P: Premiere Pro 24 issue with the GPU on Macbooks Video Preview

This is happening on all of my premiere pro projects. Started when I updated to Premiere 2024. When I look at a video in either source or the timeline, it glitches (see photo). I haven't found anyway to view my footage. The only way to see the real video is by playing the video. This makes it impossible to color correct or colorgrade footage. Please help fix this, it basically is preventing me from editing.

I found a similar issue right after I posted.

 

I changed my rendering setting to "solo software mercury playback engine" and this fixed the issue.

Hi all..

I've just updated my Macbook Pro's system to Sonoma 14.4, and my Pr and LrC got this glitch on playback and display.....

 

I searched a lot of websites, but I didn't find any post that is a similar problem.

 

Do I have to change any settings in pr and lrc? I have no idea what to do, and I am in the middle of work..

If that doesn't work, try resetting the preferences:

Hi, everyone. 

I've been facing this issue with Premiere pro when I play the video on the timeline, it shows a glitchy video (much like white noise in old CRT televisions). Even the rendered video file has those same glitchy parts. 

Checked the "effects", it isn't any effect either. The glitches appear to be random.

I am having an issue where the video is corrupted in the editor, and also when I export the edited video.

 

This seems to have started happening after installing the latest Mac OS update, so that may be part of the problem (I have a 2019 MacBook Pro).

 

The clips are not corrupt when viewed in another app, like QuickTime player.

 

I also don't believe the project file is corrupted.  I was having the problem with one project, so I went back and loaded a different project that I'd already exported successfully and it has the same corruption issue now.

 

I also tried un-installing and re-installing Premiere Pro, but that didn't help.

 

I've attached a shot of what the video looks like in the editor (sometimes it appears normal, sometimes like this).

 

I'm not sure what to do next.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

I have the exact same problem, started happening after the latest mac OS update.  Have tried installing older versions of Prem Pro but still does the exact same thing.  Is it a graghics card issue?  I'm using AMD Radeon Pro 5300M 4 GB with 
Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB

Try resetting the cache. Hold down shift when you start pp, then choose from the dialog.

This isn't something being experienced by others, indicating it is probably something with your machine. Have you set the project acceleration to software only? If that fixes this, then it is a GPU issue.

Yes, it would be. Have you tried setting the Mercury Acceleration option in Project settings to Software Only? If that fixes this, it demonstrates it is the GPU or it's driver.

 

I have seen a couple other posts by Mac users ... perhaps similar to yours, I'm not sure ... with the same image pattern.

I am working for the first time with 3x2 aspect ratio and Lumix Cameras

  • Is it possible to try the Beta version?

I could try. 

  • Do proxies or transcodes work?

No. Proxies I don't know... But they are not important for exporting. I transcoded the file to Prores and the problem persist.

I installed version 24.3 and for now it works

Hope someone knows how to fix this in Adobe Premiere Pro.

 

After making a new sequence and loading in videos or images or GIFs, the preview screen shows the content all distorted. This also shows (to a lesser extent than in the preview) when I export the file. Does someone know how to fix this?

I’ve been using Premiere as usual. Suddenly without any change to preferences or updates. No plugins or anything added.

When the playhead is paused, it shows a layer of noise. When I hit play, it disappears. Exports render with the noise. The attached images show it with and without the noise.

 

i9 Intel Mac 32GB ram
