P: Specific Presets do Not Save when I exit and return from the application (PREMIERE PRO)

Summary of the issue:

When I import specific effects presets in Premiere Pro, they do not save after I exit and return to the application. While some effects within the preset do save, certain specific ones, such as the "shake" effect, are not saved.

Steps to reproduce the bug:

  1. Import a custom preset that includes multiple effects, including the "shake" effect.
  2. Exit Premiere Pro.
  3. Open Premiere Pro again and check if the effects have been saved.

Expected result:

All imported effects, including the specific "shake" effect, should be saved and available when I reopen Premiere Pro.

Actual result:

The "shake" effect (and some other specific effects) is not saved, even though other effects within the preset are retained.

Additional information:

  • I am not using any third-party plugins or panels.
  • Please find my system specs and exact Premiere Pro version below: Windows 11, Premiere 24.6.1.

Try v.25 to see if the issue is fixed, @N3BULA. Let us know!

Thanks,
Kevin

So I have installed some effect presets from other people online. I am able to import and use them normally. I saved the project and closed Premiere. After opening the project again, all the presets were gone.

I reinstalled premiere twice and reset all my preferences multiple times.

Why do the presets not stay saved and I have to reimport them everytime i open a file

Hello xx,

Thanks for the post. Are you still having this issue with your presets? If so, the team will need more info from you to reproduce the problem. Can you provide the information required here? How do I write a bug report?

I'll move your post to the Discussions board while we await your information.

Thanks,

Kevin

There are several PRFPSET fx presets that disappear in Premiere everytime I restart the program. While my text/transition presets are unaffected, 90% of my 3rd party shake presets disappear. I have tried following instructions from past threads about importing them to a new bin and renaming it, but that hasn't helped. All of my presets are saved locally on the same SSD premiere is installed on. This is a new issue for me as of the last 1-2 weeks.

Imported Preset "Ultimate Earthquake" (Before Restart)

Imported Preset (After Restart)

My other shake preset pack disappears entirely on restart. I also tried moving the "Ultimate Earthquake" preset pack into an entirely different new bin that isn't parented under anything else, but no use either. Interestingly enough, I named the new bin "NEW NEW NEW", and when I reopened premiere it was changed back to "presets bin 01".

@Kevin-Monahan What additional details should I post? I followed the bug report thread initially, so I'm not sure what else to add unless you need something specific.

Also, I've noticed that the names of my custom presets aren't saving when I restart. Not sure if it's related, but I made a typo when I originally created this transform/crop preset. It's supposed to say "cam" crop out, and I keep editing it to say that, but it reverts back to "came" every time I close a project.Screenshot 2024-09-19 104635.png

Hi @nicki nilla,

I'm from support and a moderator here. While we are waiting to hear from the product team, you could give:

  • The version of Premiere Pro
  • Where you purchased or downloaded the presets from
  • Any missing workflow details

Thanks,
Kevin

@Kevin-Monahan I'm on Version 24.6.1

Presets were downloaded from Cinecom.net 1-2 years ago

https://www.cinecom.net/video-packs/ultimate-earthquake/

https://www.cinecom.net/video-packs/handheld-camera-movement-presets-premiere-pro/

Workflow:
I open premiere pro and open a project or create a new one. I create a new presets bin, and change the name from the default. I import the shake presets which I've been using without issue for over a year, and move all of them into the new bin. I save the project, and restart Premiere. Upen opening the previous project, the Ultimate Earthquake presets are all gone but two, the Handheld Movement presets are completely gone, and names of newly made bins are reverted to their default. So at this point, I redo everything, but it all disappears or reverts upon the next restart. I also just tried importing a preset from Motion Array which stayed after restart, but then imported a "10 transitions" preset from another source (either google drive or envato), and 9 of the transition presets disappeared after restart.

I've also tried creating new presets that aren't imported from another site. These presets only contain one transform scale attribute. The presets are given a unique name and work fine. I restart premiere, and those presets are still there, but now if I change the names again, the new name change doesn't save when I restart premiere. This also applies to bins, as well as old presets. However, if I delete the presets/bins, they stay deleted (ie. changes saved). I don't know if this information is relevant, but it seems related since past solutions stated that users needed to just add new presets to a new/renamed bin.

Thanks, @nicki nilla. Hopefully, this will bring a response from the team. Has Cinecom support responded yet? They may have an issue, as well. The team is returning from a conference, so please excuse any delays in handling your post.

Thanks,
Kevin

This could be a file permissions issue, which can behave like this. If so, you would need to make sure the permissions for those folders and files are open to allow access. Which is different depending on your OS.

Hmm all permissions for the folder and files are allowed for all users/groups, except for special permissions (I don't know what that is)Screenshot 2024-09-28 090811.png

I am also experiencing this issue with presets missing: same version of Adobe premiere the odd thing is that only cinecom presets are disappearing since I added others and they stayed (not custom) but imported from foureditors. But I also get the same problem of trying to rename presets and they revert to the previous save state. The presets that keep disappearing are Real handheld movement (cinecom.net) I thought this was a cinecom issue but that wouldn't explain Adobe premiere not saving the renaming of presets.

Every time I close Premiere Pro my presets vanish. I've looked at multiple other posts and other "solutions" and none of them work. I've turned off my cloud to see if it was a syncing issue (it's not). I've moved the "custom effects and presets" into a new folder; and made a "test preset" to make a new custom effects file, imported my own presets, closed the app, re-opened it, and they still vanished. I've looked at every single "solution," and tested every single solution, and none of them worked. I have NEVER had this issue for the past 3 years until the most recent update. I've been trying to fix this ever since August. It's getting real tedious and infuriating having to re-import my presets every single time I edit a video. It disrupts my workflow and annoys me that I can't have my own custom-made presets (and third-party presets) readily available when I need them. Please tell me how to fix this or if there even is a fix. I've provided a video that shows exactly what I see every single time I load back into a project.
