AJA Software causing Premiere Pro 24.6.1 Crash Issues

I had been having issues for over a week with Adobe Premiere 24.6.1. Every time I would play video that I had in my timeline, it would go for about 2-3 seconds, and then Premiere would completely crash. It didn't matter what kind of file I would put into my timeline, how big the file was, etc. No matter what would be in my timeline, if I would try to play it, Premiere would crash.

I tried every possible suggested fix online for this, and nothing worked. I deleted my Media Cache, Uninstalled and Reinstalled Premiere, reset my preferences, and so on and so forth. FINALLY, I figured out that I could re-install old versions of Premiere. So, I re-installed version 24.6, and now my program isn't crashing anymore. I don't know if there's a bug with 24.6.1, but it should probably get looked into. This is the first time ever I have had problems with my application crashing after a software update.

Hi @David31343867hbfp - It looks like the AJA software is crashing Premiere.  Can you please try downloading the latest software or uninstalling and see if you still are receiving crashes.  Let us know what version you have installed so that we can let AJA know.  Thank you and let us know if that helps your issue.

@jamieclarke I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say "the AJA software." What is the software called, and where would I find what version I have installed?

Hi @David31343867hbfp - Here is some documentation on uninstalling AJA desktop software since it sounds like you don't use it. https://www.aja.com/support/item/7129

Run the AJA Uninstaller, located in the AJA Utilities folder in the Mac Applications folder.

I do use it - I just have several AJA applications, so I didn't know if you were referring to one in particular.

I ran the AJA uninstaller, and rebooted my computer. I then re-updated Premiere to the latest version. Thus far, I am not experiencing crashes the way I was before. I will continue to work on projects and come back to this thread if it happens again.

That's great news!  I'm curious what version of the AJA Desktop software are you using?

Well, that didn't last long. Once again, I'm having issues with Premiere crashing. So, it appears uninstalling the AJA software and reinstalling with the latest version did nothing to help the problem. I went backwards to Premiere 24.5 once again to see if that will help with the issue. Thus far, I have not had crashes. If the issue IS with the AJA software somehow, I don't know what that issue is, or why it would only apply to the latest version of Premiere.

I was dealing all day with the same problem (24.6.1 version). It was imposible to edit until I reinstall an older version (24.5_compilation 57) and it has solved my problem. Apparently is an issue with MXF files, but not sure.

You can try this.

Having the same problem on 24.6.2 -- followed the recommended downgrade to 24.6.1 - no dice.

No AJA software installed on mac either.

C'mon guys it's been a month. What am I paying you for?

I went all the way back to version 24.5, and I haven't had any issues with
crashing since doing so. I just don't update when it's recommended to me.
