FYI: Precut, my open-source app for splitting media files without transcoding

Earlier this month I started a thread about an app I was creating that allowed source media splits to be edited/split from a Premiere project without transcoding and recompression. I've published my app today.

Here is a youtube video describing what the app does:

And here is the homepage for the app, including a download link and full online manual. The app is free and open-souce:

I, for one, am looking forward to trying this.

Although not mentioned in you video, in a quick look through the manual you list an arg (argument, as in statement, I suppose ... ) for handles, so this can also naturally create handles for each clip.

Looks very useful ...

Glad to see something like this!  I've really been missing doing this with Final Cut Pro classic's Media Manager for awhile now.

LATEST

I've been trying to get a similar thing working with ffmpeg, to edit with proxies then consolidated HiRes (remote sources, limited bandwidth).

Just found your site & going to give it a go.

One issue is going to be retaining source timecode for the relink to work.

Another is dealing with J and L cuts and non sync audio (although possibly proxy audio could be full quality & I just consolidate video).

But thanks for creating anyway
