Hi all: Silly me. I took an advanced used on their word that a link from adobes site to download Encore CS would be accurate and allow me to proceed with a tutorial.
Boy was I wrong.
I have a finished project in Premiere. I'm a beginner user but I do have a completed project that just needs to be burned to a DVD to be played. This SHOULD be possible with CURRENT versions of Adobe products. Shouldnt it?
Where can I find a tutorial on how to author a DVD using my current version of Premiere Pro WITHOUT having to follow non existent links to downloads to an old version of Encore?
Tearing my hair out over here in disbelief that I cant find that information.
Thanks in advance.
yes the setting was moved to preferences | apps sub tab

What I want to do is download ENCORE but so far it appears I have to download PR cs6 first. I do NOT want to override my version of Premiere!

Encore does not come separately its part of Pr cs6.
Pr CS6 does not overwrite any program.
Once installed you can remove cs6 and leave Encore on your computer.

I want to be absolutely sure before I open that particular gate to that particular corner of hell.
I now have two different opinions regarding CS6 possibly overwriting the CC version. Only one can be correct.
It makes a bit more sense that a CS version would not overwrite a current CC version.
On another note, looking at the instructions for using Encore, I notice no reference to Adobe Encoder. If I use Encoder am I eliminating an extra step between Premiere and Encore? Adobe Premiere Pro Help | Exporting to DVD or Blu-ray Disc

I’ve recently installed CS6. It did not overwrite my CC version of Premiere.

AME cs6 is also automatically installed as it is part of Pr cs6. (CC works differently).

DVD Styler is a free program for making DVD's. It lacks some of the features of Encore CS6. It will accept MPEG2-DVD videos created in Premiere. DVD Styler does not Transcode the video.

hehe...
This isn't a gate. It's more like the off ramp ( exit off nice highway) following sign that says, "Encore this exit."
Once you actually GET encore and begin to try and figure out how THAT works...you will have gone through the gate.
Tips: use single layer DVD R ( I forget the best brand to buy but there is one )
Otherwise MANY DVD players will not be able to play the thing.
Use the most simple and dumb settings to do your first project... ( settings for remote controls, etc. )
When you export for DVD (using CC you have ) it will create 2 files. Those are the things you put into encore.
SUGGESTION: export and ISO instead of using encore to 'burn disc'. Then use another nice simple program like IMGBURN to copy the ISO to disc. That would NOT be a data disc, it would be copy ISO to disc. Finalize disc.
hehe, you have a ways to go before you get to the gate of hell.

Amendment….
when I said use dvd R I meant the one you want to give to someone.
If you absolutely KNOW that your computer drive can play dvd RW.. then use those to test stuff, cause even when you choose 'finalize' you can still overwrite the thing with next effort at creating disc. Otherwise you could be using a lot of DVD R's as windchimes or those things you put under glasses on the table.

I don't have cc version, only cs6. Encoder has nothin to do with doing stuff once you export for DVD from your CC thing.
You choose settings for SD ( dimensions, frame rate, field order ( or none), etc... when you export for DVD from CC.
It makes 2 files.
You put those in encore.
Now you're into the gate of hell... you have a choice... burn DVD or export ISO.
I prefer the latter.
whether stuff gets messed around with to get the SMPTE standard ( and copyrighted DVD specs ) has nothin to do with you.

Now that you are in the gate of hell... here's another fun fact....you might want to get into later, once you are experienced and actually start playing around with Encore.
Most stuff now is 16:9. Or wider. 1 85, 1 39, (anamorphic) , whatever. It's NOT 4:3.
So how to you FORCE letterbox doing DVD ??? That will be fun !
hehe.. I hope you do this cause it's really fun to make DVD and BD stuff... so you can send to people you like etc.

Well now its true confessions time and you will understand what levels of hell I am actually looking at. I am using the DVD to playback a multimedia work- visuals and audio. There will be live audio mixed with the DVD audio. I chose this method to not have to deal with any sync issues at the venue which normally has non synced audio and visuals (visuals playing back behind the performance).
In my case, Ive written this work, its done and now Failure is not an option.
I have to have this in time for the show in September. Right now my only purpose is to test this burning thing,

Like many users, I have several versions of PrPro installed at all times. Currently 2015.3, 2017, and 2018. I have Encore but uninstalled PrPro CS6.
When installing any app from the CC menu always check the "advanced options" item, then un-check remove previous versions.
