When I try to import some MXF files only some will work. Others I get an "Unsupported or corrupted file" error message. I have tried importing via through the opening import window, through the media library and by dragging and dropping. Had some success with all methods, but it doesn't make sense that some files load and some don't. They are all the same codecs and some that won't load now loaded a few months ago with no problem.
Also worth mentioning that I had A LOT of problems initially with getting Premiere Pro to even open to begin with. It kept "not repsonding" on the splash screen and if I left it long enough (40 mins+) It would open, but lag and not import any MXF files whatsoever. I tried uninstalling and installing an older version, but I had the same issues. I then had trouble updating, then couldn't uninstall. I managed to install the new version again and it began opening without any problems, but still inconsistantly laods MXF files.

Hey Leah,
I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. Please let us know if this problem persists with Premiere Pro 24.3. I can see in your other post that you had to delete your media cache files and rename your source files to import them. Do you have to do this with every MXF file you import? Please also share your source file properties (Project Panel > Right-click on source file > Properties). This will help us better understand the problem.
Thanks,
Ishan

I'm having a similar problem. I can't import ProRes 422 HQ .mxf from Avid into either Premiere or Media Encoder. The .mxf play in Resolve. Thankfully so, since I was able to re-export them from Resolve without re-encoding the ProRes. Nice feature of Resolve. It's weird that Premiere won't import these Avid-produced .mxf, since Media Encoder will wrap ProRes in .mxf and Premiere will import those files flawlesly. Anyone else experiencing this? Is it a known issue?

I am kinda having the same issue. I am editing after a 5 mins or so I hit the space bar nothing will play and every clip is just a blank black screen. I have to keep on closing premiere and open it up back for it to work and play. It very much annoying. I also can't move a clip, I have to wait 1 min for it to move and then when I hit the play button and stop the clip wont move again. I am editing with .Mxf File shot on Alexia Mini LF

Hi there,
The engineering team is currently investigating a similar issue. Hopefully, they'll release a fix soon. Sorry for the trouble.

Any resolution here? Across multiple machines (windows + Mac) my 4K .MXF fils coming out of my Canon R5c are not wokring in After Effects or premiere. I was able to update to the latest version of After effects and everything wokred fine while wokring on the first clip. I exported it fine. Then I went to load the 2nd clip and work on it and it only shows the first frame of the video and will not allow me to scrub through it or view it in any way in either application. HELP!

Also just encountered this - opened a project from March 14 in which I used a few mxf clips (which worked just fine at the time), but now getting "unsupported" error messages in 24.3.0

Hey SteveBlacker,
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue. Could you share the source and codec of the MXF file you're importing? Please also let us know if you're using a Windows or a MacOS system.
This post was split from a discussion to gather more details. (https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-bugs/regarding-mxf-file-read-error-in-update-after-effe...

Thanks for sharing the details. Does it help if you move the MXF files to another storage device? If they are currently stored in an external drive, does moving them to a fast internal storage help? I understand this issue might not be related to the storage device, but this information can help us better understand the problem.

They're on an internal SSD drive which works fine for everything else (and worked fine when creating the project in question). I moved them to the desktop (also an SSD drive) and reloaded the clips in the AE project panel and they worked as expected. I tried reloading again from original project location and they don't work and give me errors. Very strange as I have no other such problems with the storage location in question - it's a relatively new 4TB SSD drive.

Same - moving the files from the download folder to the desktop allowed Resolve to import them. Odd.
