I saved my project file and safely closed Premiere. When I attempted to reopen the file ~ 20 minutes later I get met with this error. The only autosaves that open without this error are 3 hours old.

I've attempted:

  • Signing out of Creative Cloud, resetting my PC and signing back in on prompt
  • Restarting my computer
  • Clearing my Media Cache
  • Setting the Media Cache to the project location
  • Resetting my Premiere Preferences
  • Using the Digital Rebellion project repair tool
  • Importing the project/selected sequences into a new project
  • Opening the project on a different machine
  • Opening the project file on a different OS
  • Downgrading my version of Premiere to 14.8 from 14.9

Is there anything I can do to repair this file? How do you prevent something like this from happening originally? I didn't do anything abnormal and still encountered corrupted files.

Be thankfull you still have an auto save to work with. Could have ended up with nothing for some unknown reason.

Make a habit of Save A Copy to another drive every so often.
