Slowness & crashing on an existing file

Hi there

I was given a file to edit by a friend, I do not use Premiere on a regular basis. The file is, I'm assuming, badly organized and this or some other issue makes it slow/buffer often and it's been crashing every 10-15 minutes or so.  Occasionally an error comes up 'Error retrieving frame 1973 from time from the file. substituting frame'. and this repeats. I'm assuming these are related to the crashes.

Any tips you can give me on how someone who's not familiar with Premiere can do sort of easily to help with this error/these problems would be helpful, thanks.

Hi Ann, thanks.

Premiere version: 24.6.1 (build 2)

system: windows 11 pro //  Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14700K 3.40 GHz // 64 GB ram //

Sorry for the lack of knowledge, I downloaded MediaInfo, what do I need to use it on within the Premiere file? I have one main sequence but a lot of footage.

You said 'I was given a file to edit by a friend', but now it seems like you were given a bunch of files to edit?

Is there a reason you're asking? It's one Premiere file.

Yes, if you want help. What about the media. What type of file is the Premiere File? And you said you have a lot of footage, that's what you use MediaInfo for, to see (and show us) what kind of media you are dealing with.

The Premiere file is a .prproj file. I'm mainly editing one sequence that has footage that is .MXF and audio files. Do you need the MediaInfo info for all footage used?

It's like pulling teeth sometimes.

Here's what we actually need: How to Write a Bug Report

lol, your approach to this is interesting to say the least.

I said on the outset I have zero experience in premiere or video in general. The bug report post is not asking for the exact same things what you all asked for, so what's hard to understand about me not knowing by osmosis what I need to supply for you to actually be helpful? Having not used MediaInfo before, how should I know what to do? would you say it's a user friendly interface? do you often come into the adobe forums to antagonize people under the guise of being helpful? seems like an interesting hobby. should we try the reverse? I mock you for not knowing something that I find exceedingly simple.

go outside or something.
