How do I open a RoboSourceControl Project in RH

Hi Guys

I setup RoboSource control, added 3 existing projects and checked in all files.

I go to RoboHelp and select open project -> Select RoboSource Control -> Select the connection -> Browse to the root folder ($/ProjectName) -> Select a local folder (I assume this is the checkout location)

All it then does it open a regular File Open Dialog.

What am I missing? Surely I don't have to use the RoboSourceControl Explorer to check out projects?

Hi Mark

Not sure which version of RoboHelp you are using but it probably doesn't matter. Take a look at this Adobe Captivate demo I did a long time ago.

RSC-OpenProj1stTime_demo

It walks you through the process step by step.

Oh, there's another one I did on placing a "virgin" project into source control for the first time.

RSC-Add1stTime_demo

It might be a bit different if you are using SVN or SharePoint, but the process is the same. Check it out and let me know.

Thanks

One more thing. It is considered best practice to not use the RoboSource Control Explorer for routine actions. Rather, do all of your adding, checking in, checking out etc. from within your RoboHelp authoring client application so that all the proper files are managed behind the scenes.

Thanks John

Fixed it. I'm using RSC for my source control. I created the projects in RSC with Explorer. I deleted them all and used add to version control from RH and after that they checked out fine. I also updated the RSOMiddleTierService.exe (see here: Re: Opening a project from version control)
