I think this is it. I guess since the default setting is 40Mbps, I was figuring 10Mbps was really really small... but really it's 1.6Mbps that is the answer! Wow... So... what's the significance of 40Mbps? Is that 8K resolution?

I see a lot of posts about a smaller video size and here's what I have: I am putting two videos together, both are about the same here: File Size: 683.61 MB, Image Size: 1920 x 1080, Frame Rate: 60.00, Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - Compressed - Stereo, Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo, Total Duration: 00:55:39:00, Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0, Alpha: None, Video Codec Type: MP4/MOV H.264 4:2:0 Now, all I did was trim about 4 minutes out of these two and merge them together into one video of about 1 hour and 40 minutes. Like everyone before, it's creating a file that is 6.86GB in size... so pretty much 500% larger. I have about 70 of these that literally need one quick edit... but 70x500% means I'll be in the Terabyte range of space before I'm even halfway done here. I brought the bit rate down from variable and 48 to Constant and 10 and that cut it from 6.93GB to its current 6.86GB... so not a lot... My export settings are: 1920x1080 (1.0) 60fps, progressive, Software Encoding, CBR, Target 10.00Mbps, AAC, 320 kpbs, 48 kHz, Stereo. Any ideas here? And to Adobe: Can we get a "export out at the same size" button someday since I went through at least five of these threads (And tried them to no avail). Thanks!

I swear that Adobe is trying to ween me off of using Photoshop... So, I routinely build artwork, then save it as a .psd and then save it AGAIN as a .jpg for social media and the like. But with this last update I noticed that my Save As dialogue box only gives me .psd and .TIFF options... in order to actually save as a Jpg I have to click the "Save As" box (in the SAVE AS Dialog box, by the way) and save it as *Copy.jpg and rename it BACK to *.jpg I have zero idea why saving as a Jpg has been removed from the Save As dialog and now needs to be saved under the Save As/Save As dialog box (with the insistance to add "Copy" to it)... What is going on? There have been a number of changes made recently which ADDED steps to everyones workflow... I almost had to ditch Photoshop after the Line tool changed... Did Adobe fire their UX/UI folks? Can we please bring back the original Save As dialogue box? Or at least bring back the various file formats? I know it doesn't sound like a lot, but those two extra steps are enough to drive me crazy when I have to make jpgs out of 263 master psds. This makes it a week long job instead of a 2 day job.

Absolutely 🙂 And thank you for helping. I walked away for a little bit and that has helped as well (Hence why it took me some time to answer). Took a walk in the park, etc. The client isn't going to get any more upset. I should still have it by midnight tonight... in theory.

Hey guys... I have a client who wanted this animation an hour ago and I've been completely done with it except for one problem for nearly 5 hours... I'm so very frustrated that I think I'm missing something obvious. I have my characters rigged and ready to go, but when I pin them, they still float all over the place. One character is sitting at a table, the table layer is in the Character layer, seperate from the head layer. I just need her head to move, but when I turn my head the table, her body, EVERYTHING moves. Like all over the scene... it's clearly tied to my body movements... but it just makes it look like It took me nearly an hour to learn that the staple tool doesn't exist anymore... I had another character whose head kept coming off... I've settled him down, at least his head is attached (I had to figure out how the layer thing works... I understood staples instinctually, but the layer thing is really counter intuitive, so I just copied "Rin" and it worked), but his mesh doesn't deform at all, so he just pivots back and forth like a piece of cardboard. I used the Rin character and tried to mimic her setup but I'm still not getting deformation nor will the pins work. Litarally the only thing I can do is disable the camera input and manually controll the animation with keyboard input and mouse input. I'm very frustrated and I have an upset client, so forgive me for being cranky sounding... can anyone help without sending me to 6 hours of video tutorials? Thanks!

@mark_dahm I know this thread is dense and hard to follow. Can I please make one more request? At the moment when I use the line tool, it changes the mode of ALL tools in that area to vector. Not just the line tool, but when I switch to the square tool after that, it's ALSO switched out of pixel mode. Can you please have the folks who are fixing this, make sure that we can put all of those tools under that tab into pixel mode? Thank you.

So, to put a cap on all of this. It's been seven days since the reinstall and so far, I haven't had to type in my username and password. Maybe we are good? I mean, I hate to jinx myself, but so far everything looks like it's running just fine...? Thanks again! ---A

I'll check... Sadly, this morning I awoke to this: So I guess that didn't fix it... 😞 I'll take a look at Task Manager a little later (It's Christmas Morning) and see if I can't see what's going down.

Aye. Me too. Ah the halcyon days of Win 95.... Strangely, that's what the defrag said on mine as well (Last run about 3 days ago), but looking at Task Manager, it was clearly running all the time... especially when I'm idle. So yeah, I'm guessing something is very borked with my defrag. That said, perhaps if someone else sees this thread and has the same problem, it might help: For those folks: Go to the Start bar and search for "Defragment and Optimize Drive" and turn off "Scheduled Optimization". It does mean you'll have to manually run it... But check to see if that helps. Again, thank you for your help on this. I certainly appreciate it. This was 5 months of serious frustration.

Agreed. Neither have I. And the fact that I've gone through all the steps here (many times) to no avail makes me even MORE suspicious of the Defrag program. I've had other strange anomolies as well (window focus suddenly being taken away, line tool in Clip Studio and Photoshop suddenly putting the pen down mid-line, etc). I wonder if this is simply a defective app in my copy of Windows? Anyway, Thank you for your suggestion! I appreciate the help! For now I'll simply schedule a manual defrag every so often to keep things clean and then take this issue to Microsoft.

So... I had sort of dismissed that as one of the 5 passes didn't show the defragmenter in the top position on the Task Manager when the crash occured... however, I totally took your suggestion and we are at 10 hours now without a crash (I left Photoshop open all night as a test). Also, the CC app is running just fine and hasn't crashed, either (It was doing the "needs to be repaired" loop issue earlier as well). So... before I close this. Obviously I can't just not use Disk Defragmentation. Is this something that is an Adobe issue or a Windows issue? What do we think?

So, I've now logged another 15 hours on this problem, here's what I've learned: First of all, this error only occurs when my computer is idle. When I walk away from Photoshop for short periods of time. First of all: I don't have screen savers nor does my computer sleep for any reason. The computer doesn't lock or anything of that sort. HDDs do not park. Heck, my monitors don't even sleep anymore. So I set up a GoPro and filmed the computer with Task Manager open on the other screen. For pass 1: the error occured after 24 minutes and three seconds of idleness from the computer. It seemed like the only process running at the time was a defragmentation process. Pass 2 the error happened after 21 minutes and 49 seconds. Again the Defrag was running at that point. Pass 3 happened after only seven minutes and 35 seconds. But this time, though the Defrag was running, it wasn't the TOP program... What I DID see, though was that just before every error all of the currently running process icons in the Taskbar flickered out and then turned back on. As soon as the Photoshop icon clicked back on in the taskbar, we got the "Would you like to save before closing?" message box. Looking back at all of the other passes, I saw the same thing happen: the icons all blinked out and then came back a second later and the save dialogue box popped up as soon as Photoshop's icon clicked back on. So I looked that up and it seems that flickering is due to the Microsoft Feedback App. I uninstalled the feedback app and stopped all reporting processes from Microsoft then restarted the computer. This worked to stop the flickering... but unfortunately pass 4 and 5 both proved that the crash still occurs. Pass 4 happened at 25 minutes and 4 seconds and pass 5 happened at 21 minutes and 13 seconds. I am fairly convinced something in Windows is conflicting with the CC authentication server in some way... Any ideas?

I think the only thing I can try is I'm not 100% sure I restarted between uninstall and reinstall... I might have... But at this point I've already nuked it, so it's only another hour or so to uninstall, restart and reinstall. I'll give that a shot and check back in. Thanks.

Hi All. I've had the "Creative Cloud needs to be repaired" loop since July. I've gone through all the steps (I detailed them on attached picture). This is driving me crazy. Photoshop will close if I leave it alone for too long. It's completely random... sometimes it only takes 30 minutes before Photoshop closes, sometimes it's 6 hours... there is no pattern (I've had 5 months of observation on this). But it does appear to be a conflict of some sort plausibly? Please see attached picture where I detail the problem. Thank you. ---Guy

I agree with this. Having been forced to use the pen version of the line tool, I've found ways to adjust my workflow to make it work (Like, do all of the lines at once, making 298 layers, then disabling the bottom layer and "merge visible" all of the drawing, which kills 297 layers and gives me my one line layer. It's totally roundabout, and means I have to do all the LINES at once, instead of doing PARTS of my pictures, but it works. If I had the option to incorporate this slowly, I wouldn't have been so upset, but all of the tools are defaulting to pen mode (Including the square tool, though I CAN set squares back to pixels) Which means I have yet another tool that I have to "set up" before I use (I use the ruler tool all the time, but it defaults to the eye dropper, so every time I use the ruler tool, I have to first click the switch on the eye dropper) Right now I'm exceptionally mad at Adobe. I'm stuck in the "Creative Cloud needs to be reinstalled" loop and have been since July. At the moment, I have to log in every time I use an Adobe app and if I walk away from my computer, Cloud can't find my authorization and closes my work. So Adobe is already on my list. I applaud the company for making improvements, but Illustrator is for pen work... I use Photoshop for quick markup. I don't NEED pen tools there. That's what I use Illustrator for. ANYTHING that slows the process down for quick markup makes Photoshop less and less attractive for me. I now have four or five "workarounds" to stop Photoshop from acting like Illustrator... If you are going to merge them into the same program (Which would be okay), PLEASE have two different "modes" so those of us who live in the world of Raster can STAY there and not have to disable Vector tools every time we want to work in raster. And really, I STILL have the "rotate bug" (Where you click next to the rotate handles on an object and it scales instead of rotating, if you click it again it will rotate, but first you must scale, hit undo then do it again) and I've had that bug since CS6... and that STILL hasn't been fixed... I'd love it if the Photoshop team would spend their time repairing these little glitches that have been in the program SO LONG that I have a muscle memory workflow to go around them.

This is my problem as well. I am also a comic artist and I'm currently working on a UV Unwrap of a model created in Blender. The way I work is to "trace" some of the lines of the model to make it look like a hand-drawn object. What I'll do is use the line tool to tap around the model, tracing this line or that line on the edges of the model. It only takes me a moment to do this with the old line tool, and any "inaccuracies" work to my favor, giving it a more organic look. I generally have felt that Clip Studio Paint is my go-to for this, but sadly, the text tools in CSP are very lacking and one of the reasons I MAKE 3D models for my comic is so I can plaster walls with warning signs or whatever and then I don't have to try to fight with text in perspective. This has severely hampered my workflow. I understand the pen-type tools and their usefulness, indeed I regularly work in Vector in CSP, however, removing the raster function altogether has introduced quite a number of steps for me. Be aware that I use a monitor tablet for work, and the "shift" key is difficult to reach (Up until now, I didn't NEED to hit the shift key while in "drawing" mode). Any workflow that requires the shift key being pressed (As in: not creating 60 new layers when each line is created as a live object) is extremely onerous. I have my "vector" workflow (On my main monitor) and my "Drawing/Raster" workflow on a drawing monitor. They are very distinct and moving some features over to one monitor and others to another are horribly disruptive. I would like to please request that a legacy tool be placed back in: I draw straight lines, then switch to brush and work around curves all the time... this puts those two things on different workflows. thank you

Hi all. I'm in the middle of a HUGE project. I recorded the episodes of our podcast on OBS and now I'm trying to do a very simple task: I need to cut the first 3-4 minutes off (Where I'm clicking "Start Streaming' and telling my co-hosts that we are live in 5...4...3... you get the idea). It's not even complicated editing. I'm having the "We recorded the file at 300mb and the edit is 2.6GB" issue. I looked around the community and found out that adjusting the bitrate fixes this problem (Mostly, it's still 300 going in and 425 coming out, but I can live with that). I have 200 or so of these guys to do, so I really can't afford the space for all of these guys to blow up 100x. But.... Every time I load a new show, the bitrate pops back up to 10mbps and we are outputting a 2.5GB file again. Forgetting this one little step costs me 15 minutes as I realize my problem AFTER the output and have to do it all again. Anyway, I just want to have Premiere remember the last settings and hold there. One extra step in this process could ultimately mean hours when all is said and done (Especially as I get tired and forget a lot more).

Hi Jeff. So I collected the data and got on with a tech. He took control of my computer and did a few things in my registry, but in the end we both agreed that all we could do was wait until the Cloud crashed. Naturally, like the watched pot, it never crashed while we were watching it. He had to go and I had to get back to work. It crashed about three hours later and I didn't hit "Repair", instead I just let it close and I just type my username and password into every Adobe program when I need it. It's super annoying, but at least this way it's not crashing in the middle of a show. I can type my password in before I go live and it stays running throughout the day until I need the resources for something else. I don't know what else to do. I guess there is a conflict somewhere. At least for now I don't need to load any other Adobe apps, so I can just let it stay crashed. I'll come up with a plan B if I want to install anything else.

Thank you, and again, I'm sorry. This forum is a little different than I'm used to and I couldn't find my original post (Otherwise I most certainly would have simply posted to it). Since I'm kinda embaressed (Having had to apologize on air for Adobe shutting down and stuff) and I am upset because of this, I wasn't too thourough. I apologize. I did get on with support and they watched for an hour and naturally it didn't do it. So I'll have to save the broadcasts until I catch it crashing on air. I can then show someone what's happening. I'll be less stressed if I know it's coming. I would like to say that the server seems to check every hour and my internet seems to DROP intermittently. I think we have a confluence of the server check happening when my internet drops. I wish we could get 24 hours or something instead of a handful of minutes to validate our license. I'm worried that my spotty internet means I'll always have this problem with CC.

I'm sorry to repost this, but I'm mad and the fact that I can't find my other post at all just makes me madder (I don't know why it doesn't have a "Welcome back, hey did you know that you have responses to your post?!?!" thing when I log in here...) Here's what's happening: I get an error message saying "Something is wrong with your Creative Cloud App, you have to repair it" So I hit repair and it goes through the reload process and then about two hours later I get the same error message. ANY Adobe apps I am using are then immediately shut down (It does kindly ask if I want to save my work... that's nice). If I restart the app, it asks me for my email and password before I can use the app (Which then works for about an hour and then shuts down and demands my email and password AGAIN). This happens once an hour or about two hours. Generally, this is only seriously disruptive to my workflow, however, I've now had Photoshop die in the middle of a broadcast and had to type my email address and password while on air... That is emberassing for me AND Adobe. Now, here's what I've done: 1) I "Repaired" the CC app 2) I Uninstalled and reinstalled the CC app 3) I uninstalled the CC app and then used the Adobe Cleaner App then reinstalled the CC App. 4) I uninstalled the CC app, Used the Cleaner, then renamed two folders in the Users/Roaming/Adobe/ folder (Or something like that) to "Old" then reinstalled the CC app. 5) I've cursed the very name of Adobe when it kicked me out of Photoshop and Premeire AGAIN. The next step is to uninstall ALL of Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premeire, After Effects, Audition and Character Animator), delete all of the directories related to Adobe, and then reinstall all of it again. But this will stop my work for an entire day (I have a LOT of specific job settings and brushes and the like that'll need to be reinstalled when I do this). That costs me money. So I'm waiting to do that until last ditch. Now, since I can't seem to find my old post. I'll stay on this page for a while just in case someone has a solution I have not tried. Thanks for helping folks! I'm SUPER upset about this. I hope I'm not coming across as too harsh. -A

Hi. I've been a CC subscriber since 2015. I ran into the "You have to login" loop because the CC desktop app is broken. I broadcast every day and last week I ended up accidentally broadcasting my email address (luckily my password doesn't show) because the CC server failed mid show and suddenly Photoshop had to close because I "wasn't a registered user". I got so flustered because I was live and was scrambling to get back to my painting I didn't think about the fact that I was broadcasting my login to the whole world... That sucked. The CC app then said it was broken and needed to be reinstalled. I did all the things: I hit repair (That didn't fix the problem)... then I uninstalled and reinstalled (That didn't fix the problem). Then I downloaded the CC cleaner (nope). Then I did the renaming of the two folders in my /Users directory, ran cleaner and did the uninstall reinstall... And that worked for a week or so. But this morning Photoshop wouldn't open because it couldn't verify that I was a legal user of this program again (It is saying "Are you connected to the internet?"... since I'm posting this on the Adobe website right now, I'm guessing I AM connected, I can even deduce that I'm connected to Adobe). When did the CC server get so militant? I remember being afforded at least 30 days to verify when my internet went down or something went weird in the past (Which it did often, but usually it stabilized inside the 30 day period). As it is, I'm going live today without Photoshop because it's unreliable. That's not a good thing for software that I have paid more for than any other software I have ever owned. Why doesn't the uninstall remove everything? Why am I renaming folders that are left behind when it's uninstalled? Why does it then REuse those broken folders when it reinstalls?!? Now, that I have ranted for a bit (Sorry), can anyone help me on a solution for this? I've run the cleaner. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. I've even done the "Rename the two directories to "old" and then run the install again" thing (I don't remember how it all went, but I did every step and that seemed to fix the problem). Yes, my subscription is up to date. Yes, I checked no more than 10 minutes ago. My internet was cut yesterday by line workers for about 2 hours, and the CC app was running at the time. I'm guessing that caused this issue. Any thoughts?

Having the same problem: Had a .psd, client wanted me to change the text color and delete a part of a graphic on one layer, The names of the layers did not change, though I had to merge two layers together, I made sure the NAME of that layer is the same. I went into the psd to change the text color, and now Premiere is giving me this error. I haven't changed anything in the original Photoshop file except the artwork in the layers. Naturally, this is a core element of my 15 minute presentation video and it has animated layers... so reassigning everything will add a day, if not two to the job. Client is very unimpressed. Is there a fast way to fix this problem without having to relink everything (At best) or make a NEW psd (Identical to the old psd) and rebuild all elements from scratch (At worst)? Premiere has updated twice since I started this project... Photoshop three times (Once made it unusable to my large computer for a while I presume it was a video card conflict, because it went away with the next update) is there any reason this isn't fixable? I am on Creative Cloud for the updates, but honestly this feels remarkably unstable... and it's rather embarrassing to be sitting with a client and have to explain that I'm going to need to stop working with them and add a day because Premiere has decided it doesn't like my psd for some unclear reason.
