Currently, it's not possible to read a layer's comment or label in an expression*. It would be helpful to be able to access these via something like 'layer.comment' or 'layer.label'. This would allow, for instance, changing a layer's colour based on the comment text or the label. (*If I've missed something and this is possible, I'll happily be proven wrong!)

It would be helpful to be able to properly tab through the contents of the Essential Properties panel. Currently, if I click on the first property's name and then press Tab, it'll take me to that property's value. Pressing Tab a second time takes me to Property 2's value, rather than Property 2's label. If I then Shift-Tab, I can jump backwards to Property 2's label. However, if I continue to Shift-Tab, to work backwards, it doesn't jump back up to Property 1's label or value, but rather to its slider (or other control). Pressing Shift-Tab again then takes me to the Name field of the EP panel. It would make changing the names and values of EPs much quicker and easier if Tab/Shift-Tab just cycled through each property and attribute of the EP panel in turn, including the panel's dropdowns and buttons.

It might be nice to have a way to modify the default zoom speed. Personally, at this early stage of testing, I'd rather the default were more like the Shift-zoom (ie. more like legacy, to more rapidly zoom in and out without needing a modifier key), but with the option to still control it more precisely with Cmd-zoom.

This happens a lot for me too – I have various versions in my dock, and sometimes I'll click on the wrong one, and don't want to wait to close it properly.

Request to please return to using the highlight colour in the new Spectrum UI to denote if these toggles are active. The new design of a mid-grey background for the button isn't visible enough.

Is there any chance of Adobe setting up a form to allow users to give feedback on the new UI, please? I've spoken with some of the team in other channels about some issues, and I understand that there's a risk of such a form being inundated with unhelpful comments, but it would be appreciated to have somewhere convenient to log concerns and comments about the UI, without each of them requiring a new conversation.

I'd like to request a read/write layer property (eg. layer.lockedMarkers = true/false), so that markers on a layer can be locked/unlocked (and the lock status determined). Currently the only was of doing this via scripting that I'm aware of is with the Command ID (2565), which is very inconsistent. It doesn't always work properly, it seems that it can lock/unlock layer markers but only lock comp markers. Furthermore, markers that have been locked can still be modified via scripting, so it would be helpful to have a way to determine if a layer's (or comp's) markers are locked, in order to skip that layer/comp.

On further investigation, these media replacement comps do sometimes (but not always) appear to recognise that they are in use. Sometimes when you delete an unused comp, it is immediately deleted; when you delete a used comp (and sometimes with an unused comp), it first gives an "Are you sure?" warning. It's just that this recognition isn't used by the Project panel.

Currently when a media replacement essential property is used, a new comp is created under a "Media Replacement Comps" folder. However, if you later change the source of this media replacement, a new comp is created but the old one isn't removed. In a large project, this could end up with dozens of unused media replacement comps. With most comps that are in use, clicking on them in the Project panel reveals a "used X times" indicator next to the file's preview. Media replacement comps that are in use don't share this behaviour, and in fact are shown in the Project panel when filtering to show only "Unused" items. If you were to delete these seemingly unused items, then any media replacement property is returned to its default state. I would like to request that media replacement comps also show the "used X times" indicator, and that any that are in use are tagged as such, so that they are correctly filtered.

It would be a very helpful addition to be able to replace the referenced property of an existing essential property. I could see this working in a similar way to asset replacement in the Project panel, in that a user could Alt-drag a property onto an existing EP in the EP panel to replace it. (Of course, the two property types would need to match for this to take effect.) Example use case: My EP panel has a Scale property; this is linked to the Scale of a shape object. Later, I realise that I would be better served to have the shape parented to a null, and to change the scale of the null instead. However, because this comp is already in use elsewhere in the project, with adjustments made to the Scale EP, if I were to delete this EP and create a new one, all of those adjustments are lost and need to be redone. With my suggested behaviour, if I were to Alt-drag the null's Scale property onto the Scale property in the EP panel, the reference is updated and all of those adjustments throughout the project are retained.

Currently with scripting, Dropdown Menu controls are write-only, by using setPropertyParameters() with a text array to change the list of options. It would be helpful to have something like getPropertyParameters() to output the existing control options as a text array, so that the controls are read/write.

Often when working with the Dropdown Control effect, I'll have more options than can be shown in the default height of the Dropdown Menu edit window. I can of course resize that window to be taller, to show more options. However, if I were to close and later re-open this (or any other) edit window, it reverts to the default height, meaning that I have to repeatedly resize it to be able to work efficiently. It would be helpful if the previously set height of this window is remembered, and used when next opened.

It would be helpful to have additional shortcuts (eg. Shift + [ and Shift + ]) to move layers as a selection group. Currently, if a selection of layers have different inPoints, and you press [, the inPoint of every layer is set to the CTI. It would be incredibly helpful to be able to add a modifier this shortcut, so that the earliest inPoint of the selection is set to the CTI, and all other inPoints remain relative to that earliest inPoint. Same with the outPoint, based on the latest outPoint. Even better if this could also work for inPoint/outPoint trimming: if Shift is held (eg. Shift + Alt + [), inPoints/outPoints are trimmed with relative time, based on the earliest inPoint or latest outPoint.

When exporting a Mogrt from the Essential Properties panel, you are given the opportunity to add keywords to the template. However, if you then later re-export the Mogrt, the previously entered keywords are no longer there, and must be entered again. It would be very helpful if AE were able to remember which keywords were previously entered for the Mogrt export of a comp, and to display them the next time an export is initiated.

It would be a help to be able to tab through the list of items when creating/editing a Dropdown Control. Even better if pressing Tab when on the last item creates a new item below. And while I'm asking, a shortcut to delete an item would be handy (perhaps items with blank text are removed?).

Assuming I've not missed something that's already possible, it appears that there is no way to lock comp markers via scripting. The only apparent way to do this inside After Effects is by right-clicking a comp marker and selecting 'Lock markers'. Layer markers can be (un/)locked via scripting by invoking the relevant menu command ID, but it would be helpful to also have a method available for comp markers. Alternatively, it would be helpful if invoking the command ID (2565) could toggle locking comp markers when no layers are selected.

I just came across a situation where I created a black marker (using a custom label color) which had a comment. However, the comment text in the timeline was black, so the comment was illegible. It would be helpful if the text color could switch to white if the label color is detected as being below a certain value.

That's understandable if you're trying to copy/paste between different pre-comps with different, but identically named, essential properties. However, it feels like a missing feature to not be able to transfer values between duplicates of a single pre-comp.

Unsure if this is a bug, or intended behaviour, but when copying an essential property and pasting onto other layers that share the same essential property, that value doesn't get pasted. Similarly, when copying an expression only from an essential property, it's also not pasted when other layers that share that property are selected. The workaround for this is to select that property on each layer (rather than selecting the layer itself) before pasting. This is quite inconvenient, and doesn't follow the convention for other property types.

Currently the behaviour when using the 'I' keyboard shortcut, when multiple layers are selected, is to move the CTI to the inPoint of the top-most selected layer in the layer stack. This would be far more useful if it moved the CTI to the inPoint of the group, ie. the earliest inPoint of the multiple selected layers.

Steps to reproduce: Put 'Properties' panel in a stacked panel group, and select a different panel in the group (so that Properties is contracted, or 'closed'). Select a shape layer. Click on the Properties panel to expand it (make it active). Result: The Properties panel doesn't show any information or properties – the Panel title reads "Properties: No Selection". If you click on the shape layer with the Properties panel expanded, it then populates. Alternatively, if you expand and contract the Properties panel a couple of times, it populates. Expected: Properties panel should populate with information on the selected layer even if the panel is contracted. When exporting multiple images by selecting artboards or layers in the Layers panel, right-clicking and choosing 'Export As…', occasionally there are files that don't get exported from the selection in the 'Export As' panel. It's seemingly random, and doesn't happen every time.
