I do not have anything Apple (I switched away from Apple a decade ago), so I cannot help debug the issue further. Adobe has posted something about Apple issues recently, and that Adobe is working with Apple. But I did not pay atention to what are the exact issues or even the OS release number. Tim

@Rikk Flohr: Photography True, I totally glazed over that. Same point still applies, a local service should not be able to crash the application. It might make it so it errors and is unable to perform some function. But the application should not crash. Tim

Rikk, Not to nit pick. But a server crash should not crash LrD. That means LrD is not correctly handling bad data or excepton processing. Tim

Try moving some of the images to a direct atteched storage, e.g. a local disk. There have been some reports that the "Local" fucntion in Lr is having issues with NAS. If Lr can read and view the files locally, the problem is with the NAS. In which case, any information you provide will likely help Adobe (if they decide) to address the NAS issues. If Lr has problems with the files being local, then there is an issue with the files. And that can be dug into separately. Tim

To change plans, you can either manually cancel your plan and buy the new one. Or you can contact Adobe customer service and they can help you. Otherwise, here is a blog post to help you with the steps: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-move-from-lightroom-cloud-to-lightroom-classic/ Note: I have not done this. I went from Classic to the Cloud. Therefore, please read up and understand what you are doing first. Last point is curiosity on my part. Why are you switching to Classic? Tim

I have never looked into the OS internals for either Cell phone platform. So I have no idea how this is effectively done. However, I have noticed that many applications for Android have effectively been split to two components if they require an ongoing background service. For Example, Sony Imangine Edge. There is the core application which has the UI and controls a second service tier which provides Sony cameras with all sorts of connectivity information. The much smaller service which is what actually runs in the background. I have seen multiple times the main application is stopped (could be bythe OS, I never installed a logger to check), but the service is still be providing GPS data to my camera. I still have the notification at the top of the screen that GPS is active, bluetooth still shows connected. But when you look at the open applications Imagine Edge does not appear to be running. Click it, and you get the usual startup screen. Somehow, Sony has managed to make the service run continiously even when the application is closed (assuming you have set the correct battery permissions). I would hope Adobe can ask Sony how they did this 😄 Tim

Make sure you are using the latest version of LrD. Version 7 was released within the last couple days. I do NOT have the release notes handy, but I am fairly positive that there were multiple disk space bugs addressed in this release. Tim

One image per half hour sounds like a problem. It should not be that slow. I do NOT know what Adobe is comparing, but Adobe downloads all the meta-data for the images, and compares the meta-data to the local file, and if it matches, Adobe will not download the file again. I would suggest doing some file/drive tests outside of Lr to start with. Tim

I have not tried this; but it was suggested on another thread for a similar problem and seemed to work. Go into Lightroom, turn off keep originals locally. Restart Lr. Enable keep originals locally and point to the new location. Restart Lr. Good luck. Tim

@stevem38895022 You need to sync through the cloud, with a caveat. All meta-data will have to go through the cloud. But I did think of a hack for the images for which I have not tried. If you have LrD setup to keep a local copy of originals, LrD might be smart enough to not copy down the image if you manage to store them in an identical structure. Unless you are on a metered connection, this is likely more hassle than it is worth doing. In any case, I would make sure to test all this at home first. You can disable the WiFi connection on the tablet to test all the offline capability and processes. In addition, until you have completed the sync, your images could be lost. So ensure you have enough SD cards to NOT erase them until you have completed the sync. e.g. Do not depend on the single copy on your tablet. Tim

@Ási2812102879vo @ Just to be clear, a phone overheating is because the manufacturer failed to provide adequate cooling, in this case Apple failed to run sustained performance tests. Many phones are designed for small bursts of activity to make the phone feel "snappy" and fast. They really are not designed for sustained processing. There are really three common solutions which might help: 1. Go into you iPhone settings and look for peak performance management. Make sure this is set to prevent the phone from overheating. I can never recall if that is enable or disable. 2. Assuming Apple has temp sensors, and exposes the information, Adobe might be able to implement a watcher thread which can monitor phone temperature and automatically add processing pauses in the application. This is technically difficult to implement and has many variables involved, and will slow down the application. 3. If Apple exposes the management interface, Adobe might be able to implement the second option via the system interface which is less work (this is an option on Android, I am no longer current on iOS). Two parts to the question. 1. Does exporting from Lr affect the quality? 2. Does the print engine you use affect the quality? For 1. that is up to you when you export. For 2. I left the Apple world in 2013. So I do not know what they do now. I think it likely Photos would have a fairly good chance to maintain the image quality. Preview tool, that is a complete shot in the dark for what it does. Tim

@graymarcy Ah, when I export images for friends/family I never export keywords or other meta-data. So I never noticed. I would suggest instead that what you are rally after the ability to include people in the export. This is likely a much smaller lift for Adobe. Tim

Go with whatever your local tech support is used to. (e.g. when you have a computer problem, who do you go to? Friend, kids, spouse... Use whatever they like and are willing to help you with) These days, the difference between a Windows and Mac is more about what options you pick than about which is actually a better deal. Tim

Yes. When I was migrating from Classic to Cloud I often blew away everything locally to run the migration again (I was finding issues with the results not being what I wanted, so I would make changes in Classic and do it again). I found two solutions: 1. Turn off the keep originals locally. Restart lightroom, let it sit for a bit till TaskManager shows Lr is not doing anything, then set the originals property where you want it. 2. Complete wipe of the local config, and let Lr download a fresh copy. Tim

That sounds more like a card reader or system problem than an issue with Lr. You need to use a simple file manager on the phone and make sure you can reliably open, view and copy files from the SD card. Lr is for the most part dependant core OS functionality.

Try using a normal file manager first to verify that Android can see the images and folders. This will help determine where the potential issue is.e.g. is the issue internal to Lr? Or is there a system problem? or an issue with the cards or card reader? Where is the problem? Tim

Because the old account "owns" the shared album. When you close that account, the shared album will disappear. One other idea, if you still have access to the old accounts email address, and have not loaded anything yet into the new account. Check with Adobe if they can change the email address associated to the account. I have never asked, or seen anyone ask this that I can recall. Tim

There are plugins for Classic, some of which do a pretty good job of finding duplicates. There is nothing yet within the cloudy ecosystem that will assist in this. The closest workaround is to use all photos and sort by capture time. This is still a manual effort, but will at least place most duplicates near or next to each other. Tim

This is the first I recall seening a comment where a DSLR combines multiple exposures into a single file. So I am not sure how common this is. I was a Canon DSLR user for twenty years before recently switching to Sony. Both of those brands when doing braketed shots place each image in separate files. You then select the images to merge in Lr. This has paid off multiple times where I might do five shots separated by 1 EV, and find that the top end might be blown out and actually makes a worse merge. Note: This is different then pixel shifting that my Sony does, which is not supported either. Tim

You need to switch plans. Contact Adobe support for assistance. If you have not migrated yet, pester Adobe support for some transition time. You will find there are some bulk functions around meta-data and organizing which are easier to accomplish in Classic. So it can be beneficial to go through multiple "test" migrations until you have the Classic catelog organizaed the way you want before loading into the cloud system. Tim
