Throughout all time until today my option click usage of the paint brush would allow me to sample and fill my foreground color rapidly. Today it is suddenly sampling the background color for some unknown reason. Is there a setting for this that anyone knows about, or is this actually a program bug? Thanks

I recently upgraded to Photoshop 2024. In the new version, the default use of the green + button in the top left corner of a file window has switched from the classic MacOS input of "reisze window to match its content" to the newer "enter and exit full screen mode". This is both unnecessary as the letter f in Photoshop already toggles among the 3 full screen modes, and it's also actually a trap - since Photoshop doesn't have any way to exit that window from full screen mode once I’ve clicked the familiar green button (expecting it to do what it’s always done). Please upgrade Photoshop so that the green button reverts back to its traditional functionality? Or at least please make a way to exit full screen mode once I’ve accidentally activated it? Thank you

Thank you for your insight. I just tested the idea on a new document, and found that I can go 10 nested folders deep, but no more than that. Now I have my answer

Bitmap layers and smart layers are in this group. Many have layer masks.

Well there are many layers and folders in the existing group - but none are locked. What other reasons could make it unable to group?

Sometimes when I'm working on a document in Photoshop, the application refuses my group layers. I'm attaching a video screenshot. I make very many layers in all of my files, and I make nesting groups of them, but only maybe once per month do I end up with a file which Photoshop won't let me group a certain layer or folder. Why does this happen, and can it be worked around?

I'm having an issue on 2 of my M1 macbook pro's where Photoshop has a bug when turning on and off layer visibility for folders. One mac runs Mac OS 12.6.5, and the other has the most up to date version of the OS. They are both running Photoshop 24.7.0, though I've had this issue intermittently for years... Large squares of the display will update as I turn the eyeball on and off, but large square sections also will not update as I toggle the eyeball. And sometimes they become out of sync, where quarters of the screen will be on and then I click the eyeball and the opposing quarters turn on - the original quarters turn off. Zooming fixes the issue, and the issue is most likely to happen at 100% zoom In the attached video, it appears that the problem goes away after a second, but that is rearely the case. It often persisits until you zoom in or out.

This keeps happening, and I don't think the UXP folder switch changed anything. I'm now on Photoshop 24.7.0 and it happened again today

Is there a way to asign any key command to open and highlight the clone source angle text entry field in Photoshop 24.6? I love using the clone source angle in my work, and I find that the most time consuming part is using the pointing device to leave my sampling region and go click on the clone source angle text box when I need to align my source and destinations. Is there a way to set up a key command or function key to select the clone source angle text box, so that I can just start using the arrow keys right away as soon as I want a different alignment, without having to go look and move my stylus away from my sampling project?

I did this - I loaded the gradients window, and selected legacy gradients from near the bottom of the hamburger menu - but nothing changed. Do you have any other ideas.... Oh but I'm using 24.6.0 Maybe this is a whole new gradients problem.

I worry that I'm left choosing between the software not correcting for the fact that the image size changes as you rack focus through a focus stack - or it continuting to bend the edges in ways that aren't rectangular... I'll give it a try and let you know.

When using the Auto Align feature of Photoshop, is there a way to forbid the function from changing the geometry of the frames it is aligning? I use the Auto Align feature primarily for focus stacking product photos. Is there a way to limit the function to only those transformations that preserve the geometry and aspect ratio of the layers? This would help eliminate many problems where the align function gets confused. The function gets distracted by possible operations such as key-stoning and stretching corners, which are never valid solutions to my alignment needs. Please see an example of an error in my screenshots.

Bridge 13.0.1.583 has removed the ability to have 2 bridge windows open. Please add this feature back. I understand that Adobe has added tabs to Bridge windows; which I'm sure is great for some people. But the tabs don't let you browse 2 folders side by side to visually compare them. So please keep the tabs, but also allow users to press Command N or to right click and ask for a folder to be opened in a new Bridge Window too. Thank you.

I use the apple trackpads (the magic wireless one on my iMac; the integrated one on my macbook pro). @chrisdpage, you summarized my issues perfectly. @Scott_Avery I am sorry to see that when they fixed my problem, that caused an issue for you. A checkbox in a preference file would be amazing... it could read "quantized scrolling" for people who want that and "smooth scrolling" for people who don't. Adobe actually met halfway - they simply decreased the size of the quantized scrolling units, so it's much more fluid for magic mouse and trackpad users, but it's still not smooth like scrolling a website is. This is much easier on me than the old version of quantized scrolling was, but I still really wish for completely smooth scrolling - like I get on websites and in Finder.

I just had the issue again, for about the 10th time this year. Your workaround worked! I knew I couldn't use the open command to open a document, because Photoshop came up with errors, but I didn't think about using the Open Recent feture. That actually worked. I opened a recent file from the list, saved my working layers on top of its contents, and was able to fix things from there. Thank you so much for this work around. Adobe, please fix this though. Photoshop should never loose the ability to save. a screenshot of the Open command's failure. @J453 how do I get you that UXP folder, as well as a narrated video of the problem today?

For about a decade (in many versions of Bridge for Mac os - from CS2 on up to the latest version) I've been observing that bridge gets really confused when you browse through the files in a stack. Sometimes things go well, but often if you play through the stack and pause part way through, then click - the whole stack sort of explodes, and Bridge looses its grasp on weather the stack is open or closed. And even if you use the Colapse All Stacks menu item, the problem comes back when you click on that stack, or arrow past it with the arrow keys. Please see the video. The problem has gotten Much better in recent versions, but it's not gone completely. The only way to fix a broken stack is to select it, then upgroup from stack, then make a new stack out of it. Bridge is an awesome tool... please fix this bug.

Over the past year, on multiple Mac OS versions, on multiple Photoshop versions, on my old Intel MBP and on my new M1 MBP Photoshop has lost the ability to save files. A video is attached. (The MBP was up to date with all OS and Software updates at the time the video was made.) When I got the new MBP I also did not migrate user data over, but instead set up everything from scratch, so this definitely isn't a preference file that was carried over in migration or anything; let alone that the troubleshooting with Adobe Phone Reps in the past led to me deleting all preferences on my Intel machine. The problem went away for many months, but it resurfaced last week... it seems to be less frequent now. The autosave seems to be uneffected, at least some of the times.

Please switch out the integerized scrolling in Bridge, which only lets you scroll in disjointed whole-photo jerks, for the smooth scrolling every other app allows. It's actually hard to understand the scrolling that's happening when I scroll in Bridge because of this integerized, jerky scroling that Bridge enforces. It would be much easier on the user if the scrolling was smooth just like all other scrolling experiences (at least in MacOS and Photoshop)

Please switch the SHARE button to a middle gray. This bright blue is surprisingly effective at distracting from my work. Adobe obviously knows that their interface should be nearly monochrome; that's why they allow for it to be largely middle gray. This SHARE button is putting their corporate goals of forcing us to use adobe's cloud storage servers over the actual usefulness of the program. Please upvote to have Adobe switch the button back to dark gray, or remove it entirely.

That is a nice work around, but it would be intuitive to be able to search within the preferences window directly, instead of needing to remember to go find some other tool somewhere to perform the search function within the preferences.

I often spend long enough hunting through the preferences tab in Photoshop that it makes me seriously consider how much I really want to change a preference.
In mac os preferences, however, I just go right in and search for what I want. I never even try to hunt it down manually; the process is so simple and fast. Please impliment this in Photoshop.
