Thank you for your report! Media intelligence was added on 25.2.0 - so it would be interesting to know why you would see it affect older versions too if it is not available there? Do you mean the auto transcription feature? That is available longer and only its settings moved under the media intelligence umbrella.
Would it be possible to capture a screenshot of your progress panel while you experience these slow downs? Can you also provide some information about the size and media used in projects that experience these performance issues? (e.g. how many clips, what format/codec, what total runtime in minutes). This would help us in finding a possible root cause.
Best regards, Alexander

at this point it really looks like there is something up with your NVidia GPU - all the crashes you sent happen when interacting with your GPU in a very random way - since this seems very specific to your machine, i would not rule out a hardware issue on your GPU - might make sense to test with a replacement GPU

Hi ! From the last crash report you sent it looks like you are crashing in the nvidia driver - can you try updating to the current studio driver: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/details/232934/

Thank you for your feedback. These files are part of the new media intelligence feature which powers the visual search in Premiere Pro. Premiere Pro analyzes all the video data in your project and creates a search database from the visual information. If you then hit the "search" button in the top right of the header bar you are e.g. able to search for complex expressions like "drone shot of a red car in a city" The media intelligence settings to enable/disable this feature are available on the import page or through the app preferences. See more details about media intelligence here: Adobe Helpx - Premiere Pro Media Intelligence Search Hope this helps - and happy searching! Best regards, Alexander

Thank you for your feedback.
It looks like you create the subtitles in the 708 format which does not support additional styling as it is meant to be used for embedded captions that are displayed in a very specific way by the player devices. If you want to be able to fully style your subtitles you need to select the "Subtitle" caption format which allows for a much wider selection of styles to be applied. Best regards, Alexander

This means that the index is created successfully - now we need to rule out if the index is also valid.
Could you attach the created prin file for your provided sample clip? We dont have the exact model of your GPU available here to test against - the only known problem affects old driver versions of Intel GPUs in general - but there might be specific issues to your model which we might need to triage.

Thank you for your feedback. The prin file is used by Premiere Pro to power the new visual search feature. It contains the visual information of all the assets and sequences in your project. It is saved next to your project as a way for you to e.g. share or archive your project including this index, so Premiere Pro does not have to re-analyze all the assets again. It is a bit different from data we put into the media cache as this is already condensed and closely related to the current version of your project (e.g. it is kept up to date to only contain the data you use). The prin file will not be created after you disable media intelligence and clear the media cache.

Thank you for the example file! i just tested it here and it worked as expected:
This means there is something in your system that prevents the search from operating correctly. Let us dig a bit deeper, do you see the .prin file next to your project file after you save? What is the size of that file? If you are on windows - make sure to update your GPU driver (Nvidia studio drivers / Intel GPU drivers / AMD GPU drivers) - also do not use windows update to update drivers, as it is known to actually down-grade into known broken versions.

Thank you for reaching out to us.
In the creative cloud desktop app - go to Apps - Premiere Pro - "..." menu -> Get Addons Please verify that the "media intelligence" Addon is correctly installed there or choose to re-install it from there.
If this is installed correctly, please check if you see any entries in your "progress" window when you e.g. drag new media into your project and if their analysis completes successfully. You should also see a new companion file next to your project file ending in ".prin", these contain the visual information that is used by the search. Best regards, Alexander

To unblock your work you can also roll back to Premiere Pro 25.1 - go to creative cloud desktop - apps - click the "..." menu of premiere pro - "older versions" 25.1 Thank you helping us to track down this issue. It sounds like this may be an interactoin between the color space used in your sequence vs the color space of your input clips - and in some way this conversion may cause the errors you see - which would be on us to solve. Best regards, Alexander

Given the additional information i still think this is just a side effect of your footage being the hardest to decode possible - this is independent of your system hardware as there is no GPU decoding support for this format yet - so all the load is placed on your CPU - if your CPU or your power supply hit a combination of instructions which are not hit in any other case - this could lead to spikes that crash your hardware if it is not 100% functional. There have been lots of cases of faulty CPUs, RAM, PSUs in the past which only produce a crash with very specific scenarios - and the whole PC going down is a very clear indicator of a hardware or os+driver issue. Creating proxies or transcoding in e.g. in AME to ProRes would help - but i dont think this would solve the root cause of your problem - it would only avoid the problematic hardware path.

Thank you for your feedback! Visual analysis does not require scene edit detection - these can be used independent of each other. (Scene edit detection will be more frame accurate in most cases though for the use case of segmenting a given video - in this way Visual Analysis is not meant to replace Scene Edit Detection - it just happens to also create segments of similar content internally)

Thank you for your feedback - if your whole system freezes this indicates that you have a hardware issue like e.g. overheating CPU/GPU/Power-Supply which would only happen under heavy use.
Ironically a more efficient software would trigger this more quickly as it use the hardware more per time - so the new update might just run into problems that it did not trigger before as it makes better use of all your hardware. In theory this should also trigger by running any other intensive GPU benchmarks for long enough if you want to cross check against that. Best regards, Alexander

You can switch off media intelligence indexing by e.g. going to the export screen and pushing the toggle on the right menu, or in the preferences under media intelligence. Could you help us with the specs of your system? Our aim is to not impact the editing experience in Premiere Pro even when indexing - is that the case for you? or are only applications outside of Premiere Pro slowed down? Best regards, Alexander

Thank you for your feedback on media intelligence! We are actively working on expanding the search capabilities to make it even easier for your to limit the scope of files you want to include or exclude from your search results. Are there any other specific properties you would want us to make sure to include in future search options? Best regards,
Alexander

If it sometimes works it sounds like you are recording with a stero mic and the channels have a phase shift that causes the audio the cancel out when mixed down to mono. You can try to open your source clips and choose "retranscribe" from the "..." menu in the text panel and pick one of the channels instead of the default "mix"

Thank you for your feedback! The search works best the more details you use to describe a scene and generally has its lowest precision if using a single word for searching. E.g. instead of "interview" , a search for "person speaking into the camera" should return better results. We are aware that this is very different from what people are used to searching when e.g using regular search engines - but it also comes with a much stronger power of expression. Best regards, Alexander

Currently you can only search clips in your currently open projects. What you can do is e.g. use AME to analyzer all your clips up front, and then add them to your projects, so you can start searching them immediately. Best regards, Alexander

Hi ! Given that the use of any driver with your GPU causes a crash seems like an indication of a hardware problem of your GPU. It might make senes to swap this for a different model any try if this resolves the issue. (this would also explain the sudden nature of it failing - as it might have experienced physical damage to its GPU itself or its components on the board, eg through thermal damage.

Thank you for this report.
Can you try holding ctrl/shift when starting Premiere Pro and choose to delete the cache and disable all plugins? If this does not help you can also reach out to customer support for an agent to dial into your machine to find the root cause.

We do not analyze the video frames at the full resolution, so compression shound not have a significant effect at the search result precision unless you could spot the difference in thumbnail view.

The search information is stored per file and per project. At least in theory you dont need to reset these as they are dynamically updated. E.g. if you use a clip in a sequence it will automatically show up in the search results. If you want to clear the index you can e.g. delete the media side car file .prmi / .prin , to re-generate them. Best regards, Alexander

Thank you for your report !
Uninstall Premiere Pro 2024 and 2025 using the Creative Cloud Desktop application. You do not need to also remove preferences when it asks.
Go to your Applications folder and check if there is any leftover folder called "Adobe Premiere Pro 2024" or "Adobe Premiere Pro 2025" and if there is, delete that folder
Re-install Premiere Pro
This should resolve any errors caused by left-over transcription downloads on your machine. You can also try to use the latst beta version which should now be more robust in handling this specific error case. Best regards, Alexander
