This problem persists - I've uninstalled Lightroom, reinstalled it. I've went back to 13.0 still happens. I've even deleted my Previews folder as it happens most often when I am moving through my images on the filmstrip at the bottom. There is always a short hourglass (Windows 11 reminder) that appears before it crashes/vanishes. I've even moved my catalog to a faster drive - still happens. The only constant is Lightroom's update to 13.0. I'd love some help from the Adobe moderaterators - acknowledgement that they see this post or something.........

Resetting preferences didn't fix the issue. It's still happening, but not quite as often? No idea what triggers this. No other issues with any programs on my PC, including Photoshop.

Thanks - but that was not the issue. No LOCK file in my catalog directory. I'm able to open LR and work in it, close it, open it again, etc with no issues. The only problem is it randomly just quits - sometimes when I'm not even working in it (it's just open on my desktop).

Hmmm. I did actually doa force quit when it seemed to be locked up a couple of days ago.... (Task manager in windows, end task) - how can I check for an errant lock file and what do I need to do?

Lightroom has been rock solid for as long as I can remember. Recently (version 13?) it simply closes for no reason and with no crash info - just vanishes/closes. I may not even be using it (it's running in the background) and it quits. It's totally random when it happens and there is no warning, crash or error code. Sometimes I can work for 15 minutes before it occurs. My PC continues to run fine. What I've tried: I've updated to 13.0.1 as it listed critical bug fixes and it still simply quits. I've also tried updating my Nvidia Studio drivers, and even rolling them back to earlier versions - no luck. I've done nothing to my PC other than update Lightroom which is when the issue started. I have a super beefy PC (Windows 11) with 64 gigs of ram, 13th gen i9 processor, GeForce 3080 card with 10GB VRAM. Restarted my PC (duh) I've optimized the LR catalog. Still randomly happens. I've also checked my disk drives for errors, none found. I've turned OFF the graphics acceleration in Lightroom and it still randomly happens. Anyone else or ideas?

I agree 100% with Sherry. As a working professional, I would never rely on a beta product to deliver content to a client. I tried it a couple of months ago and had slightly different issues when editing into PS from LR. I immediately uninstalled it and went back to the production versions of both and have zero issues. I worked for years without AI in my workflow - I think I will be OK for a little while longer. Obviously the fix is more difficult which is why it's not done yet. The pinned reply at the top of the thread from Adobe explain how to get back to a working setup. Do that.

I'd say due to it being a BETA it's not quite ready for prime time and Adobe is using everyone as free guinea pigs to play with their new versions and report back. I just uninstalled the Beta and will wait until they release the new features to the full version.

No - You won't lose your plug ins or anything else when uninstalling as long as you select KEEP SETTINGS when uninstalling.

So far it's awesome. I got the 16GB version and ordered a single stick of 32gb to up the ram. It was cheaper than buying the 32gb version from ASUS. It's stupid fast and the screen is gorgeous. Add the wheel that now works and I think it will drastically improve my worksflow when I am traveling. At home my desktop is a 64GB beast.

Yes! You need to update the intel chipset drivers on the laptop. I used asus chat support and was pointed to the drivers that needed updating.

I just purchased a new ASUS ProArt Laptop yesterday that has a dedicated dial that allows you to control sliders in Lightroom, Photoshop, etc. It works perfect in everything BUT Lightroom Classic or Photoshop. The dial knows Lightroom is running and pulls up the specific commands set for it (Exposure, Shadows, Highlights, etc) but the dial does nothing. Same for Photoshop. The defaults allow you to change brush size, opacity, fill, etc and the dial doesn't do anything. I've checked for any updates and searched the internet to find absolutely nothing that solves this. The videos on YouTube just shows it working perfectly. I'm thinking a recent Adobe update caused it to stop working? Here's a link to a video showing it working: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqRio29IUuA

I wanted to download and try the new Photoshop Beta so I downloaded it from the Adobe Creative Cloud and it installed fine. BUT - when I use Lightroom and choose EDIT IN - ADOBE PHOTOSHOP 2023 it opens the BETA version. It does not give me an option to choose WHICH Photoshop version I want to use. Uninstalling the Beta basically kills the ability to send an image from Lightroom Classic to Photoshop at all and the only way to get things back is to uninstall the beta and then uninstall Photoshop CC 2023 THEN reinstall Photoshop. I'd love to play with the beta and be able to choose which version of Photoshop I want to use when sending images from Lightroom Classic. Steps to duplicate error on a windows machine: Install LR Classic and Photoshop 2023. Install Adobe PS Beta Go to Lightroom Select a photo and choose EDIT IN Photoshop 2023 (there is no other choice) It Opens the Beta vversion, not Photoshop 2023 Checking Lightroom preferences: External editor is set to Photoshop 2023 and the drop down box shows no other versions of Photoshop to choose from. The only way to fix is to uninstall BOTH versions of Photoshop then reinstall PS 2023. Versions used: Adobe Photoshop Version: 24.5.0 20230512.r.500 3fc8e4c x64 Number of Launches: 69 Operating System: Windows 11 64-bit Version: 11 or greater 10.0.22621.1702 System architecture: Intel CPU Family:6, Model:14, Stepping:10 with MMX, SSE Integer, SSE FP, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AVX, AVX2, HyperThreading Physical processor count: 6 Logical processor count: 12 Processor speed: 2208 MHz Built-in memory: 32502 MB Free memory: 20835 MB Memory available to Photoshop: 24978 MB Memory used by Photoshop: 70 % Lightroom Classic Version: 12.3

I posted about this bug as well: https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/p-edit-in-photoshop-sends-it-to-the-photoshop-beta-not-2023-no-option-to-choose/m-p/13790880 The only way to "fix" this is to uninstall the Beta AND Photoshop 2023. Then reinstall Photoshop 2023. This is not an issue on the Mac version - it only seems to affect the Windows users. I am hoping Adobe can fix this in the next Lightroom Update. Is there a place to officially report this bug?

Yes - I see that. It does not add the Beta (or any other PS version). It always shows Photoshop 2023. The drop down has nothing under it when I click it. I have kept my software 100% up to date.

Hoping for some help here. I am on a PC and have the latest versions of Photoshop and Lightroom Classic. I wanted to download and try the new Photoshop Beta so I downloaded it from the Adobe Creative Cloud and it installed fine. I've seen some videos where the option to select which version of photoshop you want to use is selectable from a dropdown menu but this was on a Mac and not a PC. Any help is appreciated!
