Tried again with latest macOS 14.5. Latest version of Illustrator still dumps the contextual menu onto the wrong screen. Added 2-screen screen shot illustrating the issue.

It is the latest. 14.4.1. This wasn't an issue a few Illustrator versions back. I already read that ancient link before I posted here. No help there. This is new and Adobe did something that caused this.

I have a Macbook Pro M1 16" and a 27" LG 4k arranged so the LG is above the Macbbok monitor. WHen working on a drawing in the upper monitor (all the palettes are in the lower) an I right click to bring up the contextual menu to unlock guides, the menu shows up at the bottom of the lower LG monitor. About 4-5 versions back, this was not the case. The contextual menu should show up in the vicinity of where the mouse was clicked.

I know this post is 8 months old, but I just bumped into this issue on a brand new MacBook Pro Max. I did a Google search and found this thread. Thanks, Jason, I would have never thought to switch the GPU off. Seems like something Adobe should investigate and improve.

Are you using AI with an M1 Mac in Native mode?? I bought mine with a beefed up GPU. Wasted money as far as AI is concerned. Have you tried resizing a container with GPU active? The blinking/jumping result is enough to initiate an epileptic seizure. The only solution is to shut the GPU pref off. Using the GPU pref is currently next to useless on an M1 in Native mode.

What Monika suggests. I did just that and had a live chat with a rep. He sent me a link for the 2020 version and that was it. Worked like a charm.

Oh gosh, had I seen the other post about 2 down from here, I'd have never posted this. The Apple Accessibilty cursor setting was slight larger than default. When pushed to the left, the Precise cursor behaves correctly.

In earlier versions of PS, if the Precise cursor was used with a 100% hard brush tip (and no options), it would paint or erase precisely up to the border of the cursor. It doesn't seem to perform that way in PS2022 anymore. I haven't found a setting or Pref that will make it perform like it did in earlier versions of Photoshop. Is there some new setting or Pref in PS2022 that I'm failing to use, or is this function broken?

Thank you, Monika. Yes, you were right about your first two paragraphs... none of that helped at all. But your last paragraph? Yep, going to a live chat (not the automated one), connected me to a rep who sent me a link for the AI 2020 (24.0.0) version. After making double sure Wacom didn't sneak a driver update while I wasn't looking, I downloaded and installed the AI 2020 version and ran it. Pen Pressure worked fine in it. I quit AI 2020 and launched AI 2022. Pen Pressure was restored... so yay...and again, thank you. It would appear that the AI 2020 version installs something that the AI 2022 version is apparently missing to make Pen Pressure work with (at least) on a Wacom tablet and an M1 MacBook Pro under OS 12.1. As I've noticed quite a number of posts on exactly this subject across the forums, you'd think Adobe might release a small installer that adds those fixes to AI 2022... or simply release an official update to AI 2022 to address the issue. I mean seriously, don't you think it is overkill to have to track down the older version and install it to fix a problem in newest release version?

Hi, have you checked if there are any updates available for your Wacom? Have you also tried to do a new driver installation? By @italosan Yes and yes. Pressure still greyed out. Again, If the Wacom driver is working for Photoshop, Affinity Designer and Photo...why not Illustrator?

Would someone kindly tell me why my Wacom tablet (PTH-450) pressure sensitivity works just fine in a fresh installation of Photoshop 23.1.0 but not a fresh installation of Illustrator 26.0.1, using Wacom driver 6.3.44-2 on a brand new Macbook Pro M1 Max? I have tried every suggestion on this board, the web and at the Wacom site. No matter what I do, I only have the Fixed and Random settings available. Pressure is greyed out. Again...works perfectly fine in Photoshop (and in Affinity Photo and Designer, for that matter)....but totally dead in Illustrator. If you have a suggestion besides "trash prefs", I'm all ears.

We're working on adding more memory to our jive servers to help with the lengthy load times.
Thanks for your patience as we work to fix this!
Thanks for the heads up....but what Noel said:
even if everything were to work right, the overview screen has lost all its utility.
...is the main point of this issue, I believe. Faster is better...but if basic functionality remains in its current crippled state, all the extra memory would do is just disappoint us all quicker.

I could not agree more with the title of this thread. Every mouse click now takes 20 seconds or more before anything happens, impossible to tell who the respondents of a thread are and each page of threads is now an extremely short list. These forums are no longer fun or easy to participate in.

Unfortunately, I'm not seeing a significant difference when changing the Tip Double Click Distance. Sorry that didn't help much. Did for me on PSCS6. I'm using an Intuos5 Medium with Driver v633-3 on 10.6.8 though. There seem to be a number of issues out there depending on PS version, Intuos model & driver and Mac OS. What exactly are your specs? That info might be helpful.

If you gentlemen don't mind, I'd like to interrupt this thread hijacking with a suggestion to Ezra Ekman. You remember him, right? He started this thread with a question about the brush lag he was getting with his Intuos tablet in Photoshop on his Mac? Here's my suggestion: Open the Wacom Tablet panel in System Preferences and turn "Tip Double Click Distance" to Off and see if that speeds things up a bit.

JET: All good points. Just thought I'd mention an alternative to the list. This point: "One has to worry about breaks in compatibility when the host program changes versions." ...is especially painful with Cadtools. Everytime Adobe brings out a major rev, it breaks Cadtools and requires a healthy chunk of cash and a fairly lengthy wait for the update.

Illustrator provides no dimension tools, no user-defined drawing scales, no proper radius / chamfer features, no callout tools, no connector lines. All of these features are available with Cadtools, an AI plug-in made by a company called Hot Door. They actually work quite well within AI.

Just ask yourselves: is there anything that Adobe is offering that's going to prevent you from doing your work with the tools you presently own, for the next couple of years? If the answer no, then let Adobe enjoy watching their sales plummet. The customer is alway right. Boycott 'em.

I just read through this post. Near the bottom, I read this: 17. Advertising and Your Content. You agree that Adobe may display advertisements adjacent to Your Content, and you agree that you are not entitled to any compensation. The manner, mode, and extent of advertising or other revenue generating models pursued by Adobe on or in conjunction with the Services and/or Your Content are subject to change without specific notice to you. Are they kidding? This is just nuts.

I don't know if this is a more recent addition to CS6, but at least now there's another way to get rid of that bounding box. Select the move tool, and there should be a check box to "show transform controls", which ought to do the trick. The original post was about a different kind of "bounding box" that was showing up as a lazy non-tracking grey annoyance as you dragged layers around in the first iteration of PSCS6. Adobe provided a plugin to deal with it (mentioned above) and that worked. The latest version (13.0.4) doesn't seem to have this bug anymore and the plugin appears to be no longer neccessary. The Transform Control "bounding box/handles" element has been around for quite some time. Two different things. However, your post prompted me to check the plugin fix. I removed it and discovering it was no longer needed. Leaving in place does no harm either.

Who deigned this as the "correct" answer? Now that it's parked at the top of the thread, it gives the illusion that the problem is solved. Anything but. Has anyone investigated suggestion #5? Disable Beam Sync? Google Beam Sync and get a load of what they are asking us to tackle. Are you kidding me? As stated by Mathias17: "Why is it necessary to jump through these hoops just for Illustrator CS6? Because no other Adobe software requires these measures, the finger is still pointed right at Illy CS6 as the culprit of it's own performance issues." I couldn't have said this any better. That list is mostly a wild goose chase. It's as though they threw darts at a white board filled with everything they could think of, short of their own programming. This is a stall.
