Coming up on the 2 year anniversary of this post. Would be amazing if @Adobe chimed in here!

Sadly, these are the frustrations we have to deal with using software that's based on 30 year old code.

I have to say, it is truly mind-blowing that Adobe hasn't been able to get smart objects to import from PSD to AE. It's not like we're talking about two different company's products here...

Dear Adobe, it's now OVER a year later and nothing has changed with this bug. Is this ever going to be addressed?!

Yes, I'm aware that we can save our workspaces, but that still doesn't help resolve the issue I showed in my screen captures I posted above. Saving workspaces and then reverting back to the saved workspace is just another repetitive task, just as moving my panels back to where they were is repetitive. I'm looking for Adobe to stop moving all the panel borders around everytime a single thing moves.

Back here again to ask the same question - any advancements on this fix? It's been a year and half later now. I definitely waste at least a few minutes of every work day moving panels back into the correct position... over and over and over again.

@kglad regarding your comments about 2B, I could probably re-install the CC app on my Android phone to see if the problem is fixed that way. But to answer your question about notification options in the CC mobile app, if you tap on your profile pic (upper right) then you can go to preferences and there's a simple on/off slider for notifications. Other than that or the Android/iOS system-level notification controls, I think that's about it?

@Kalvyn Rasquinha thanks for the response. Here's some more details to clarify: 2a: after posting this, I looked at other similar notification lists such as Dropbox, and realized that they are often the same clunky UI where the user clicks the options button (3 dots) then has to use a dropdown to select the next option. It can be troublesome because the dropdown often goes away if the cursor doesn't move very precisely. In the case of Creative Cloud notifications, why not just add an X to dismiss the notification? What is the need for a "mark as read" option if the user could simply click the notification to get more details and therefore "mark as read" by default? Or click a single button to dismiss? It would just be a much cleaner flow. 2b: The "render completed" notification DOES alert my phone when it first appears, but then it sends the same notification everytime I click the spillover menu and everytime I click "dismiss" or "mark as read". So I might end up getting 3 or more duplicated notifications on my phone.

Thanks, but it's not the window edge that's cutting off the dismiss options. It appears as seen in the image in the OP. The render notification shows the dismiss options. I can make the window as large as possible and it doesn't change anything. I didn't get into detail on issue 2a, but I'm not sure why each notification item doesn't just have an X on the right that appears when hovering, to just do the same thing that either of these options would accomplish. What's also odd UI is that the dropdown marked "Everything" has options of "illustrator, photoshop, acrobat, indesign, adobe express" but the notifications themselves are from "fonts" and "after effects". Why is it showing filter options that don't include the actual apps or features that my existing notifications are from?

Talking about the Notifications bell icon in the Creative Cloud app: 1. I now have 3 identical notifications about "Some fonts need an update..." and none of these can be removed/dismissed so they are just going to stick around forever I suppose? 2. On notifications that I CAN dismiss, there are two bugs... 2a: first, the 3 dots to click on to dismiss it always pop up overtop the rest of the UI, so that the user has to click the dots, then move the mouse up or down, then click the selection... it's hard to explain but it's just clunky UI design. And from a company that makes software to develop UI this is very ironic. 2b: on notifications about a render finishing in AE, when I do dismiss them, the notifications each pop up on my mobile device AGAIN instead of just going away quietly.

I would also take this a step further... My issue is that the vertical dividers between panels are constantly shifting widths and positions everytime I do something like close a panel, lock an effects panel and then drag another one next to it, etc. Basically EVERY interaction with opening or closing or moving panels will also move all the other vertical panels around it, rather than keep those locked in place and just affect the panel directly next to it. I saved a screen capture to explain better. Sorry if I sound like a grumpy old man here but this issue seriously takes SO much of my time every day just to work around it. Curiously, the horizontal dividers always stay put. Maybe because I leave my timeline along the entire bottom of my screen? I'm also having the same issue with Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office. I don't think you could rightfully call Acronis a "non-major player". So again... why isn't Adobe working with anti-virus makers to stop this from happening?

Hi Tim, maybe this recording will help. Actually I'll DM you since it's an active project. I didn't turn on any indicator to show when I'm clicking and holding, but when I roll over that button and pause, that's me clicking and holding. You'll see that it works sometimes and not others.

OK, I think I have one clue - see if this is the same for you. Opened an existing project, clicked in comp timeline, then click and hold on the selection tool (aka rectangle tool Q) - nothing happens the first time when I hold. Then I release and click and hold again and then the options show up. Is that expected behavior to ignore the click and hold the first time?

I'm using this example because it's easiest to reproduce, but this bug exists everywhere the color picker is seen. Steps to reproduce: In AE, composition settings (Cmd-K), click on background color swatch to open "Background Color" picker. Try to select new color by dragging around the small circle inside the main color swatch area Try to type numbers into the fields Result: • causes that selection circle to snap back to where it was. • numbers enter VERY SLOWLY into the fields (may be part of the larger issue with SLOOOOWWWWW typing everywhere in AE) Expected: to be able to select a color! System info Application: After Effects (Beta) v23.1.0.37 OS: macOS v11.7.0, RAM: 64.00 GB GB, CPUs (logical): 32

Attention: this is NOT just a Mac/Magic Mouse issue. How do we remove this ridiculous answer as being the "correct" answer and replace it with the correct answer found deep on page 2...? ANSWER: switch the panel view to stacked group which will prevent the comp view window from zooming with the scroll wheel!

THIS is the real answer to this problem. It's amazing to me how sidetracked everyone got by complaining about this as a Mac vs PC debate, when it has NOTHING to do with what OS you're using. The issue happens on both Windows and Mac. Changing the panel type to stacked panel group prevents the scroll wheel from zooming into the image. BOOM! DONE! Now stop complaining and talking past each other, people!

Curiously, Lightroom is one of the only Adobe apps that still doesn't have a "2017" version yet. I wonder if a miracle update is still in the works? We wouldn't know because if Adobe monitors these forums, they certainly don't reply to anything to let us know we're being heard.

OMG! This is a brilliant hack solution since Adobe isn't listening to us to just put a simple "zoom lock" button on the comp window controls. The reason this works is that it's forcing AE to respond to the scroll wheel as though it is vertically scrolling through the "stack" even if the stack only has one item in it. You can see what I mean if you resize the comp window to be taller than your comp is tall - it will scroll vertically instead of zooming. KUDOS, GregCooper !
