"I think Adobe should offer it in the watermark tools." I agree. Unfortunately, people have been asking for years for watermarks that could pull dynamically from metadata.

But if the discussion gets split between the two forums, with conflicting, duplicate, or incomplete suggestions, as sometimes happens, then we all waste time and lose, especially the person asking the question. Since three people had responded in the other forum and just one here, I recommended using the other forum as the focal point. If it had been the other way around, I would have recommended making this forum the focal point (as I've done in the past). Others coming here for help can easily click the link to the other forum.

Unfortunately, there's no good solution. Adobe inexplicably omitted "exact match" from smart collections and text filters. You used to be able to do All of
filename starts with xxx yyy zzz
filename ends with xxx yyy zzz but that broke in LR 13.3. If your end goal is to find files given a list of file names, you could use the Any Filter plugin's "matches lines" operator: If your goal is to write a plugin that provides that functionality, the plugin could call catalog:getAllPhotos() and then catalog:batchGetRawMetadata () to get the photos' file names. It could create a temporary collection in which to store the matching photos.

@Patrick Cunningham, there is an open bug report about Starts With and Ends With, acknowledged by Adobe: https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-bugs/p-starts-with-text-filter-on-captions-or-filename-incorrectly-matches-words/idi-p/14729614 The original bug was fixed many years ago in LR 6 or 7 (I think), but then it regressed back to the buggy behavior in LR 13.3. "I want to find pictures which have a caption which contains only a certain phrase, eg: "Trafalgar Square, London, England." but NOT "Trafalgar Square, London, England. A man walking with his dog."" While you can refine particular searches using smart collections (e.g. "contains words Trafalgar Square and doesn't contain walking his dog"), in general, there's nothing in smart collections and filters that will solve this general issue. Consider using the Any Filter plugin, which has correctly working Starts With and Ends With, as well as exact match and many other operators that LR lacks and the ability to search 880 different fields. It's not as convenient as having it all built-in, but it gets the job done.

Similar recent reports (on Mac or unspecified): https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/lens-blur-halo-effect/m-p/15339521 https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/black-outline-to-subjects-when-applying-lens-blur/m-p/15350918 One person reported the following helped, but they never responded when asked which step helped: 1. Try setting Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor to Custom and unchecking Use GPU For Export. Does the problem still occur? 2. Do you see any red dots under the icons in the Develop tool panel at the top? If so, that means you've applied Remove on top of the lens blur, and LR needs to recompute the Lens Blur mask. Do the Develop menu command Settings > Update AI Settings. 3. If neither of those help, upload a problem original photo to Wetransfer, Dropbox, Google Drive or similar free service and post the sharing link here. We can see if the problem occurs on other LR installations, and if so, file a bug report.

When the SDK method photo:setRawMetadata("gps", coordinates) changes the GPS coordinates of a photo, the Library Metadata panel doesn't show the new coordinates. The same problem occurs with the fields "gpsAltitude" and "gpsImgDirection".
To reproduce on LR 14.3.1 / Mac OS 15.5:
1. Save the attached file "setrawmetadata-gps-bug.txt", rename it to have the .lua extension, and move it into the LR Scripts folder. Restart LR.
2. In Library, select a photo.
3. In the Metadata > Location tagset, set GPS to these coordinates:
37°19'50.6"N 121°53'40.1"W
Observe that the address suggestion matches the coordinates:
5. Do Scripts > setrawmetadata-gps-bug, which sets GPS to these coordinates:
40°43'42.3696" N 115°28'58.9836" W
Observe that the address suggestion has changed to match those new coordinates, but the GPS field still shows the coordinates from step 3 (incorrect):
6. Restart LR, and observe that the changed GPS coordinates are now displayed correctly:
The same problem occurs with the fields "gpsAltitude" and "gpsImgDirection". Modifying the test script is left as an exercise for the reader.

1. Try deleting the Camera Raw GPU Config.txt file, following steps 2 - 5 of this article: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-gpu.html#solution-4 2. Delete any TempDisableGPU2 or TempDisableGPU3 files. Read the instrructions carefully about the Lightroom Classic subfolder: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/acr-gpu-faq.html 3. If these steps don't help, do the LR menu command Help > System Info and copy/paste the entire contents here so we can see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running and important LR options that are set.

@CapturingTimePhotography: "There was a hand in the edge of my photo that needed to remove and it will only take it to a shadow of the hand." 1. Uncheck Detect Objects before brushing a selection -- it doesn't work well, especially with skinny objects and along the edges of photos. 2. See this short article for how to remove objects more reliably: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/generative-remove-replace/ Most complaints about Remove are addressed in the article. But if it doesn't help, please attach a full-resolution JPEG exported from the unmodified original photo (not a screenshot). @Virginia Photo: "Generative removal failed. We detected a problem with your results. Please check our guidelines and try again." To see the "guidelines", click the miniscule "?" icon in the upper-right corner of the Remove panel and then click Generative AI User Guidelines. Adobe's AI is a repressed Victorian and often faints at the slightest hint of skin or small children. In geek speak, it has a high false-positive rate for adult and child p o r n (not allowed to type that in the forum), making it unsuitable for many kinds of innocuous professional use.

Unfortunately, there have been many, many reports about Denoise "Uknown error", most of which don't have posted solutions or workarounds. The few that do don't apply here, e.g. out-of-date graphics drivers. It's unfortunate that LR doesn't log more details about the "unknown" error -- it has those details but the programmers weren't motivated to record them.

Building on that, another cause of computer crashes is overheating due to a faulty cooling system, e.g. fans that aren't spinning or fan vents that are clogged. You can download a free CPU temperature utility to monitor the temperature of your CPU/GPU as you use LR (which uses a lot of power and generates a lot of heat).

With your sample .arw, preset, and profile, I'm not able to reproduce the problem in my LR 14.3.1 / Mac OS 15.5. Here are the steps I took: 1. Do File > Import. 2. Select the .arw. 3. Set Apply During Import > Develop Settings to the preset Sony A7CR 100-12800 adaptive Preset 2204 11 27 V1. 4. Select the option Copy As DNG. 5. When the import completes, I observe that the imported DNG has that preset selected, with Profile: Linear-Sony ILCE-7CR, and all the slider settings set by the preset. See the attached screen recording. Are you doing different steps? Perhaps a full-resolution screen recording (not a phone video) of the entire LR window showing what's happening would clarify. If Adobe can't reproduce the problem easily, they won't pay attention.

"whether Lightroom should be able to recover this data if the folder wasn’t backed up" Yes, LR should be able to recompute the exact AI masks, Generative Remove replacements, and enhanced-profile LUTs if the .lrcat-data file has been removed or not recovered. LR sometimes corrupts that file, and a workaround is to delete it, restart LR, select all photos, do Update AI Settings, and then wait a long time while LR recomputes everything. A few people have reported that when they do that, they're not getting back the same exact masks and removes, though I'm mildly skeptical of these reports.

"I also came across some mentions that .lrcat-data can be related to LUTs and/or Look tables. " An "enhanced profile" (sometimes called "creative profiles"), a .xmp file that appears in the Profile browser, can contain LUTs. The LUTs get copied into the .lrcat-data file. If you delete the .lrcat-data file, LR will get the LUT from the enhanced profile (.xmp file), as long as it's still accessible. There's more detail about this in my posts in the long thread that Rob linked to.

I'm trying to reproduce the issue you're observing. But the preset you attached, "Sony A7CR 100-12800 adaptive Preset 2204 11 27 V1", applies a camera profile "Linear-Sony ILCE-7CR". You'll need to share that file as well. It's a .dcp file, so you probably can't attach it here. Instead, upload the file to Wetransfer, Dropbox, Google Drive or similar free service and post the sharing link here. To find the file, in Finder do Go > Go To Folder and copy/paste this line into Go To Folder: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/CameraProfiles/Imported
