In the newest version of Photoshop (2023) there is no option to do this. Without an open document almost everything is grayed out, including Snap, Snap To, Guides and Grid. So there's no way to set "Snap to" for default documents.

Running Photoshop 2023, Mac OS Ventura. THIS problem just started happening. I can no longer paste smart objects into Photoshop. Anytime I copy/paste a JPG/PNG, I don't get the "Paste as smart object" option. In fact, it just pastes in as a pixel based object without any option. I reset my preferences, I have my "place objects as smart objects" general preference set, and I even RE-INSTALLED Photoshop, to no avail. NOTHING is working. I called up Adobe, and the India-based "tech support" agent couldn't help me - in fact, he seemed slow, and fairly clueless. So here I am - ANY ideas? Thanks.

THIS worked for me too: I've found the "guilty" pref, wich caused the beach ball lag. For me it was the User/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop 2020 Settings/MachinePrefs.psp . I deleted it, and the beach ball lag has gone! This way all my settings remained.

Unfortunately, that's not the issue. I have no made any changes to the photos. They are directly download from iCloud, no changes. I've been using Photomerge for years and I just seem to run into this problem more with the current version of PS.

I use Photo-Merge pretty often, and I just recently updated to Photoshop 2021 - 22.5.1 - and now I'm getting the "Documents must be saved before they can be merged." warning with almost every photo. Never had this issue previously. Any assistance on what the problem is or how to fix this or ger around it? It seems to be popping up with EVERY photo I'm trying to merge.

Moving an image, moving elements, moving a layer folder - even placing an image and it keeps snapping back to the placement origin point during resize or move. This is incredibly frustrating. Any ideas? I've asked this here before and no one from Adobe has responded or addressed this let alone solved it.

Just updated to Photoshop CC2020 on both my iMac and my Macbook Pro and now - with high resolution files - I'm gettting an occasional gray screen between processes or processing (layer transitions, resizing, changing fonts, applying filters) - I"m not sure it's a redraw or what but it's quite annoying. Any ideas what the heck is going on here? It's happening on BOTH my computers so....

I'm running Photoshop CC 2020, with Mac High Sierra. My fly-out (sub)menus from the toolbar are not working. The only way I can access various tools is by holding down the option + click on my mouse to active or scroll through other tools. Any help would be appreciated.

Yet another in a long line of issues with an updated version of Photoshop. So normally, I can use the arrow keys (up/down) to increase/decrease the type size/leading in the character panel. No longer. I can make it 1 size bigger or smaller, then it beeps and me and I can't incease/decrease the size in any of the option blocks. Any idea what the problem is? This is driving me nuts...

Another strange occurrence now that I upgraded - the arrow buttons on my keyboard no longer work within the text control panels. I used to be able to place the cursor in say, the text size or leading (or tracking) number boxes and adjust the increment boxes, but my arrow keys and adjusting the text incrementally no longer works. Any ideas whats happening here? This is incredibly frustrating.

I haven't had - until now - issues with image quality but the file size difference is immense (24mb vs 95, for just a 10x10 file that is a color layer and a fading gradient on top of it, at 300dpi) as is the noticeable performance issue with huge files (granted not too often but still...) Interestingly, increasing the file to 16 bit, reapplying the gradient, then downsizing back to 8 bit solved the banding problem.

Using 16 bit blows up the file size and uses more memory and hard drive space of course. Quite a bit more.

I'm noticing banding is more pronounced in Photoshop CC2019 for some reason. Especially BLACK banding in a gradient, especially when it fades to transparent. Anyone know of any fixes or runarounds of this? Again these seem to be old problems that keep popping up in newer versions of Adobe software that should 'know better'. Thanks!
