Hi,

Please consider adding continious/infinite scrolling to the post overview pages.

This page loading behaviour works so mutch faster then browsing page by page.

https://infinite-scroll.com/

Thanks

We had that and there were many requests for pagination instead.  Long threads were a nightmare to get to the last post.

What we really need is more posts to show on each page.

What we need is a go to last post button.

From memory, that was requested but proved to be too hard.

Pagination was the next best option.

Although I know nothing about web design and coding,  I find it difficult to believe that it would be too hard.  A lot of other forums didn't find it too hard.

Rendering the page wouldn't be hard, but fetching the posts from the database might not be that easy due to this forum software's complicated query model. That aside, I find infini-scroll pages quite annoying, especially on mobile devices. All they do is gobble up memory and then freeze or crash the whole shebang.

Maybe a combination of both technologies could be a good approach.

Use continues scrolling on the post overview pages, and keep pagination on the post details page.

I would not mind this pagination if the page setup was better; more text on one page.

So much empty space waisted.

OP is talking about the Overview page of the particular forum, NOT the actual posts.

So if you go back to this forum, Com Feedback you can scroll through all the posts, discussions.

But IMHO that is a bad idea. You would then need to go to the last post, discussion to actually see the bottom of the page.

That could be Thousands and Thousands of posts and could take DAYS to get to the end in some forums.

What needs to happen, as asked for from Day ONE, is to Drop the first 2 lines of the post under the topic title, remove the waisted white spaces, and add more topics, posts, discussions, to each individual page layout.

But it has been made very clear by the people that run this place THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

They know what is best you everyone will just have to live with it, or NOT.

Been there, done that. infinite scrolling was a catastrophe on the overview page because there was no possible way to reach the footer links.  Sorry but this idea won't fly here.  There are too many problems with it.

Hi all

yeah, I was one of those who had trouble with infinite scrolling and seeing footer links, the long scrolling pages jumped and flickered and clicking on the foooter was like a game of wack-a-mole .

Happy New Decade everyone
