No RSS feeds?

Are there any RSS feeds for the new forums? Or plans to re-enable them?

I monitored feeds in Netvibes on several forums, along with dozens of other content feeds, using Netvibes. It's like Feedly.

It's very inefficient to have to visit a forum to browse the topics to see if anything relevant is touched upon.

RSS feeds are disappearing from many sites; is the entire world's productivity decreasing as a result?

I can see a site that depends on eyeball add revenue to do this, forcing you to the site.

But a pure support contenet site like Adobe forums is not such a site.

p.s. You actually use the RSS icon in top-right user menue for "My Follows"...

Yes there are feeds - for each board and each thread - but Adobe decided to hide all the visible links to them.

You'll have to look in the source code, or your browser's "page info" tool. The URLs are not predictable, for example the feed for this thread is

https://community.adobe.com/havfw69955/rss/message?board.id=community-help&message.id=54896

which of course has no relation to the message number (10619036) in the HTML version. Go figure.

Feeds can only be accessed for public pages, they don't give any information on who said what, and the formatting is completely jacked, but at least you get the whole page in one go - which is impossible via the website!

Why did they do this? I'm trying to come up with a reasoning for this bad design of the new "Community" vs. the just fine Forum and I'd love to hear your take.. Making it harder for users?

The servers running the old Jive forums couldn't cope with the traffic. The new site supposedly can, but it was implemented in a... cost-effective manner. Apparently by someone whose only inspiration was their Facebook timeline. There are supposed to be regular updates, so keep complaining about whatever bugs you and maybe they'll take heed.

Hey there, just wondering has anything changed in the last  year... ? trying Feedly - but its not giving threads etc...  and email notifications are quite verbose and messy. Have people just accepted the forums are a bit sub standard ?

Thanks

Alan

Nothing has changed. Adobe hid the RSS content as much as they could because they don't want people using it. The cookie problem means that feed readers handle a user being logged in, and more importantly Adobe can't track you. Despite back-room conversations as to why it's useful, it's just been written off.

>> Have people just accepted the forums are a bit sub standard ?

Yes.

Forum regulars were expecting Jive (previous forum) + better features and performance. What we got out-of-the-box was truly awful. Way below expectation and nothing like what was promised.

Now we're gradually inching our way back to Jive-level features.

There are lots of promises repeatedly put on the table by Adobe assuring us of gradual improvement in forum features and performance in coming months. The feature request list is huge so they'll have to prioritize.

We have no choice but to wait for roughly bi-monthly updates and see if improvements do actually happen.

Thanks a lot,  such a pity - for scripting - invaluable resource (After Effects) - especially because it filled the gap of knowledge where Adobe never  updating the Scripting guide/object model.  So every scripter has to encounter the same issues individually and repeatedly. A quick search always threw up helpful devs and solutions.
