Just discovered that if you enter a screen name with, say, an apostrophe in it, the forum software actually displays the backslash escape character before it. I'm guessing the same would have happened with a double-quote character.
Either support punctuation in screen names or don't, Adobe.

There have been reports of some characters not playing well. Unfortunately, those characters are allowed (for now) in the Adobe ID. It would be great, if they were completely forbidden, when one creates a account - that would solve several issues.

On Mac There are Forbiden Characters that are not allowed in Hard drive, Directory, File and Folder names When you using Office and also affects other application as well:
Some of the forbidden Characters are:
Numbers before names, Superscript/Subscripts, " ' \ | / < > { } [ ] << >> : and ::
Numbers after Names are okay. None of these characters can be used in name of Hard Drive, Directory Names, and any File Names.
And on servers no names can have the name File or Fileserver in any path names.
You can use _ (underscores).

Well, I have posted many times in this forum that very long screen names, and email addresses as screen names, should't be allowed. Unfortunately, Adobe allows them in their site and so thay have to be allowed here as well. As Adobe owns both places and dictates the rules, and doesn't seem to care much for what the users of these forums think, I don't think that the issue you are reporting is going to produce any result.

Claudio,
We are together in this [twin sons from different mothers?] - if a character creates a problem, it should NOT be allowed in an Adobe Account.
It's that way in most forums, that I frequent, and both for the ID/User Name, and for the PW too. There should be a filter on the Adobe end, IMHO.
