I have Reader X , Windows 7, IE8 with Adobe PDF Link Helper add-in enabled and virus free with plenty of free hard drive space.  When I print a PDF text document, whether 1 page or 5 pages, the progress bar takes a very long time to load.  After loading the pages print fine.  Its waiting for the progress bar to prepare the document that causes my frustration.  Is this normal?  If not, if there anything I can do to speed things up?  Thanks in advance for your help.

It is looking for something, like a network printer that is off line.  Make default printer that is not on a network.
