Where does login take you?

This is a continuation of observations posted in the Login/timout thread.

Using FF, I open a session for each forum to visit so that I can be in one forum while loading another, and I save my sessions upon quitting and open them again when restarting. Every time I has finsihed reading/posting in a thread, I return to the forum which means that when I open FF upon restart I am taken to the forums and start from there.

It seems that when I login from one of the forums, I am not taken to the forum but to the last visited thread. Today, I made the login from the Illustrator forum and was taken to the last visited thread there, A golden floor, and not only that: I was taken to the Print Preview version of the thread which I had switched to after posting in order to archive it, before returning to the forum through Bookmarks.

So it seems that somehow the browser history determines where I am taken.

Which are your findings?

I go to the forum of choice via a bookmark.

Sometimes I'm logged in, sometimes not.

If logged in, I carry on as normal; if I've been logged out, I click on the "log-in" link, fill in the fields and resume in the forum where I was before.

If I'm logged out while in the middle of something, I just log back in and end up where I was.

Sometimes I lose the reply I was writing.

Couple of times I've landed in some obscure forum I've never been to.

Is that not a rather peculiar behaviour?

And this is the cause for a LOT of  postings to the WRONG forum, when a USER is not paying attention to where they end up after relogging in for the umpteenth time!

Yuck!

I've had similarly odd login behavior after the system logging me out, once or twice even being launched into forums that AFAIK I've never been in before.  Extremely disconcerting....
