Thanks Steve. I assume that the CC trial version will invoke automatic charging at the end of the trial? And if so, I'm keen to avoid it... I've had too many problems in the past with automatic charging. I wonder why Adobe offers a free version for Mac users but not for Windows?

Many thanks Steve. My understanding was that Mojave was the last OS to support both 64-bit and 32-bit. Is that a misunderstanding on my part? If I look under About this Mac->Software->Extensions I can see that the architecture is described as x86_64 and the 64-Bit entry is set to Yes

Firstly a disclaimer... I'm not really a Mac user but I've a Mac here that I usually dual-boot into Windows. Somebody's asked me to test an audio issue on Mac so I needed to install a free audio app and came across Adobe Audition - BUT... When I downloaded the installer it told me that it'll only work from MacOS 10.15 onwards (which is Catalina, I think) and I'm running 10.14 here, which is Mojave. So is it still possible to find an Audition installer that'll work in Mojave.?

At home I only have a demo version of CS5.5 (which I think has expired now...) However, CS5.5 is still available for download and it's a very simple problem to reproduce:- 1) Launch CS5.5 and create a new session 2) Switch to the Multitrack view 3) Hit the 'Play' key

Thanks guys. I checked the Playback preferences but only 2 of them seemed relevant:- 1) Centred auto-scrolling in Multitrack Editor The above seems to do nothing at all AFAICT. 2) Return CTI to start position on stop This one re-positions the playback cursor (after it stops) but it doesn't prevent the 'stop' from happening... 😞 I guess this must have just been a bug on that particular version...

Last week I was working for a company who use Audition CS5.5 and I noticed something a bit strange... Let's say I start a new session and switch to the Multitrack view. If I hit the 'Play' button, the cursor starts to move - but it stops at the right-hand end of the view window (e.g. it stops after about 30 seconds, depending on my zoom factor). This happens, even if I'm recording !!! From what I can remember, the 'Play' key offered 3 x options:- 1) Play to the end of the currently selected item 2) Play to the end of the current view (i.e. what seems to be happening) 3) Play to the end of the session I figured that if I added a mark at some very high timecode, that would increase the session end time and stop this problem - but it didn't work. No matter which of the 3 options I chose, playback consistently stopped at the right-hand end of my view window. The only way I could play an entire session was to have the entire session viewable (i.e. to use a very high zoom factor). Is this a bug - or did somebody think this'd be a useful feature ??

Thanks guys - am I right in thinking that Waveform View in fact edits the underlying clip? (i.e. it's a destructive audio editor?) If so, I'm just curious to know why it wasn't called (say) Clip View (or maybe Clip Edit) I'm not complaining... it's just that "Waveform View" doesn't seem to describe its underlying purpose (?)

Thanks to everyone for all the help here. I installed Audition CS5.5 and I'm just getting to grips with it. I'll ask any questions in their own threads - but just one quick question... Let's say I record a clip in the timeline but the audio's a bit low. I can increase the gain on playback but AFAICT that doesn't affect the waveform height (as seen for that particular clip on the timeline). Is there a way to improve the waveform visibility too (i.e. increase its height) ?

Thanks Steve. I followed that link and found 2 x files which looked like they might be an installer for v3 - one was called ADBEAudition_loopology.exe and the other is ADBEAudition_ESD1_WWEFGJIS.exe Are either of those the version 3 installer or is it somewhere else?

Thanks for the quick response emmrecs. Am I right in thinking that Adobe Audition used to be called Cool Edit Pro? If so, maybe I'd be better trying to find an old version of Cool Edit Pro somewhere..?

I'm a sound engineer, mostly working in the UK TV sector (BBC etc). Next week I need to work in some studios which use Adobe Audition. It's a long time since I used Audition so I figured on downloading a demo version to refresh my memory. However, this studio is still running ver5.5. I tried to find a demo product on Adobe's web site and realised that Audition seems to be up to ver10 now. So I'm assuming that a ver10 demo won't have much in common any more with ver5.5. Is there anywhere where I can obtain older demos (e.g. 5.5)? Or are the basics still pretty much the same?
