The above image is taken from the Adobe instructions article > How to set up multiple artboards in Illustrator. This make me think (and hope) that the "automatic placement" could be a bug, just because, if it wasn't, Adobe would have removed the option from its instructions I hope we will receive an answer sooner or later. This problem is compromising. Creating the artboards and then moving them can be a problem because the artoboards don't follow the "snap to grid" (and similar "snap"), so the file could lose accuracy and precision.
