I wrote Bug 9622 back in 1/29/2021 for FM 2020. It has 2 conditional tags by default that should not be there. We are a shop that heavily use conditional tags. Having extra conditional tags is not acceptable so we have remained on FM 2019. This is the second time that the bug's status has moved from Open to another status (like maybe it is being worked on) and as of this morning I noticed it is now back to Open (I check every Monday morning). I was promised that this would be fixed for the next release so I also check weekly for any news on the next release. Can someone from Adobe please provide some kind of an answer of when this will be fixed and if in the next release, when that might be? After waiting nearly 1 and 1/2 years, I think we have been patient. thank you

Ok. I just checked and PDF Review is in FM 2019 that I use. However those conditional tags do NOT display in FM 2019, therefore they were hidden in that version. They are not hidden in FM 2020. Therefore I consider that a bug. I do both documentation and program testing here. And where I work that is definitely considered a bug. Sorry. I don't know what Adobe considers that. Feature requests are normal new items.

On 1/29/2021 I entered a bug about 2 default conditional tags (which cannot be removed) in FrameMaker 2020: FM_PDF_Comments_Highlight FM_PDF_Comments_Underline Where I work we heavily use conditional tags and having 2 that cannot be removed is not acceptable (which is why we have remained on FM 2019). I have posted about this roughly 5 to 6 months ago where I was told it would be in the next release, but my bug is still listed with a status of Open. The bug has 18 votes from other users who also want this fixed. How many people have to vote for this before this gets fixed? In May I posted the following concerning bug 9622: I entered a bug for Framemaker 2020 back in January in Adobe's tracker tool (bug 9622). It had to do with the following conditional tags being added to the product by default: FM_PDF_Comments_Highlight FM_PDF_Comments_Underline 5 others also requested that the bug be fixed also. However, it is now May and it is still Open, not fixed. I have been waiting for this fix so i can upgrade Framemaker where i work to Framemaker 2020. We use conditional text heavily here and won't go to FM 2020 until this bug is fixed. How do we get Adobe to fix this bug? Does anyone have any ideas? Since that time I have been monitoring the bug. The status went from "Open" to "To Track" to "In Development" back to "To Track" back to "Open". No explanation in my original post as to why it is not being fixed. So I am concerned the bug I found will never get fixed. So I am posting again in the hope this will be fixed or at least I will get an explanation as to why it will never get fixed. Note: Since that time one other person also requested that it be fixed so now we are up to 7 requests. Thank you to all for reading this.

Thank you, that would be greatly appreciated. We have a lot of conditional tags here and having 2 that are not used and making sure they stay that way will some day cause someone to make a mistake. One of the others that approved this bug mentioned they do translations and can't have any conditional tags when sending over their translations. What's is involved with all that, I don't know. Also forgot to mention, by automatically adding the Comment tag back in, we go back and remove that. That is annoying, but doable.

We use conditional tags a lot in the manuals. Some have expressions. The expressions take into account the tags that have been configured. We don't want to change our expressions because 2 additional tags have been added that should be hidden. The tags mentioned cannot even be deleted like the Comment tag can.

I have my own set of templates, however I just created a document from Framemakers doc template and those two tags mentioned in my original message are there along with the Comment tag. The Comment tag was also added to my files, but that one could be deleted.

I loaded Framemaker 2020 and everything is going smoothly except the following two conditional tags are provided by default: FM_PDF_Comments_Highlight FM_PDF_Comments_Underline Since I use conditional tags all the time for my work, the last thing I want is two more tags. However, no matter how hard I try, I cannot get rid of these two. I delete them, they seem to be gone, save the file, but when I open the file again they are there again. Does anyone know how to permanently get rid of them. I have lots of manuals and I do not want them in every file in every manual. thank you

Been working really hard on this. Here is the outcome: 1. I am now able to work in both RH 2019 and RH2020 at the same time. What happened before I do not know. Previously I was not on the last version of RH 2019 or the RH2020 update 1 when I tried it. Whether that had anything to do with it or not, don't know. However, I do know to only open 2019 projects in RH 2019 and 2020 projects in RH2020. Now I have the lastest of both and at least operational on all help files. 2. In that one file I found other files that RH2019 must of named for me with J&C in it. I was able to rename those manually. Also since you said there were many updates to the TOC, I went through the TOC very detailedly and found areas where I forgot to change J&C to Prob Docs. So basically I looked at EVERYTHING. 3. I did delete my 2 presets I had and recreated from scratch like you said. 4. After all that, no change. I received the same error message. 5. I tried requesting permission to send you the file, however, that was denied. No judicial information, even a help file, can be sent outside the court. So I will have to recreate the help file from scratch, import the htmls, skin, etc. So, I will like to thank you very much for ALL your time and assistance. Even though we didn't get this help working, I am at least working on both RH2019 and RH2020. So I can make updates to the help file until I have time to completely recreate it.

I did some more digging. I have two presets for this help file (one for the admin and one for the users). This is what I found When I viewed the preset in the GUI it showed it was picking the toc ProbDocs but the html file is showing <name>J&C<name>. The path is correct. I will manually change this and see what happens. Is there another place I should be checking for the TOC name?

Okay you are correct, you can open projects in RH2019 when RH2020 is installed however the problem comes in generating them to make sure they are working. To make sure it was working right, I did uninstall RH2020. After the rename to ProbDocs.toc, everything worked in RH2019 including the generation. I reloaded RH2020 (uninstalled RH2019 so nothing would interfere with it) and the same error message occurred. I even checked around when I had RH2019 installed to make sure there wasn't anything else still having the J&C name and I didn't see anything.

So if I am understanding you correctly. 1. Uninstall RH2020 2. Install RH2019 again (I know I cannot have both -- went through that when RH2020 didn't support IE) 3. Change the Toc name to only have letters. 4. Uninstall RH2019 5. Install RH2020 6. Try the upgrade again. I'll give it a try. thanks

No. It was a newer project that was started in New RH2019. I have been trying to dig into the project to see what it could be. The old project name was J&C. When the product name was changed, it was changed to Prob Docs so I changed the project name and whatever I could in RH. RH2019 worked flawlessly, and was generating files with no problem. I now see the toc file is still named J&C.toc but RH 2019 was handling it but I don't know if that could be causing the problem in RH2020.

I have 15 help files to upgrade. I got to my last help file for upgrading to RH2020 and RH will not upgrade it. It works fine in RH2019. The message I get is If I Restart RH and try again, I keep getting the same error. The only thing different with this help file from the rest of them is that the project was renamed in RH2019. However RH2019 handled it flawlessly. Does anyone have any ideas why this one may not be working? This help files does require frequent updates, so I would hate to go back to RH2019 (yet again) for one help file. I have kept all the RH2019 files so I can go back. thank you to anyone that responds.

okay. I did send an email to Adobe Tech Support already because I assumed it would come to this. I did go around and around with this same problem when I installed Adobe 2019 until everyone realized it really was an IE problem and Adobe sent me a fix. I hope this doesn't cause any problems. But I truly thank you for all your time and effort. Any help on your end to get the fix quicker would be greatly apprepriated. If I load the same help file in Chrome with azure_blue skin. no problems at all going back and forth with the tabs.

I added Azure_blue and the same thing happens. I generate and when it displays the TOC displays. However, go to the index and nothing. Go back to the TOC and now the TOC doesn't display. Same problem

I had trouble when I first included the image in my post and the post didn't go through. so i first sent the text and then the picture. But to answer your question, I have the exact same version of IE as you. I sent the picture because I don't remember the name of the skin because I changed the name to the product name.

Just a note. When the help first displays, the TOC does have information. However, if you go to the index and back to the TOC then there is no information in the TOC. So the picture was taken after I went to the index and back to the TOC.
