Dang, that sucks.  So, I paid for that and two upgrades (not useable) and end up with a piece of software I can no longer use, but paid for. Let's try another tact.  I still have my original drive (I was trying to migrate to an SSD).  Is there anyway to move that activated copy from that drive to a new drive? I just want the software I paid for to function like it has for many years.  There should be nothing stopping Adobe from releasing a patch to correct this issue.
