I installed Premiere Pro fresh. There were no previous installs. When I launched it I get the same error. Again I go back into Creative Cloud's installers and tell it to install an earlier version and it works.

Previously it gave me a screen that would allow me to check options like settings, etc. It now jumps to update with no option to change settings.

This problem is still an issue for me as well. I have multiple Mac users that are unable to update to the latest versions of InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. When they do and launch the updated program it errors out and quits. The only solution is to go back into the Creative Cloud app and install a version earlier than the newest one. Once I do this additional install the software works. This morning I updated Photoshop and InDesign. Once updated I launched them both and both failed. Installed version before though Cloud app and now they work. This has been going on for months.

I have one Mac having this same problem in Bridge and one in InDesign 2018. I've re-installed the 2017 versions as a work around until we can resolve the 2018 issues. I did perform an uninstall and reinstall on both mac's for the problem 2018 programs with no luck. I also tried creating a new user and launching the 2018 InDesign. I still received the same error launching 2018 with the new user profile. Update: Removing the preferences as suggested does not have any effect. Still receive the same error. My Mac workstation that had the InDesign error now also has the same error in Bridge 2018. Currently it's one Mac with InDesign 2018 and Bridge 2018 giving the same error and another Mac workstation having the error only in Bridge 2018. Update: 2-16-18 I have completely wiped several mac's clean, zero'd out the hard drive. Installed CC apps Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Bridge and Acrobat. I was able to set up the preferences on all of these but when my user started working Photoshop did the same lock up and we had to go to an earlier version of that software to get it to work. This still continues to be a constant problem.

Jane, I've been following both threads for a long time now. None of the fixes shown there worked with the lag issue we are experiencing. What do I need to give Adobe to get this corrected?

I am using InDesign 2017.1 Release, 2.1.0.56 Build It occurs with multiple documents. I have not tested if I recreate as a new document from scratch but will. Most of our work is pulling previous jobs and updating the art for the new year. We use the formatting, perf and die lines etc. Not reinventing the wheel saves a lot of time, at least when there's not this terrible lag. My work space is essentials. I work off two monitors. I had posted previously on a thread that is now locked and wanted to continue this discussion. The thread says that the issue was resolved. It's not. Every action I take in my InDesign files has a 20 to 30 second spinning beach ball lag. These include, but are not limited to, clicking a text box, saving a file, opening a file, pasting a graphic, pasting a text box, zooming in or zooming out, switching pages, selecting an object, placing an object, pasting an object... you get the idea. In a previous thread I tried every solution that was given with no results. This included: 1. Un-mounting all servers and working strictly off my Mac's hard drive. 2. Saving the file as an IDML, opening that and saving over the previous InDesign file. 3. Saving as template, opening the template file and saving over the original. 4. Installing Adobe's text patch. 5. Unchecking type preferences. 6. Turning off the preflight panel. etc.. This issue is killing my own production and my entire teams. It is not specific to my Mac alone, or to any single file. It is global in our company using InDesign. It has taken processes that should take 5 minutes and turned them into 45 minutes. Please help me find a solution to this. Thank you for your help.

This was already turned off on both the Mac systems having the bulk of the problems. The problem persists even with this turned off.

I have tried all the fixes mentioned here including this most recent plug-in. Nothing has fixed my issue. Saving, clicking, select all, moving from one page to another, zoom, every action I try results in a 20 to 30 second lag watching the spinning beach ball. Every once in a while I get 3 or 4 actions in before the beach ball starts again. My gut tells me this is document specific some how. Some documents that have VERY large file content lag more than others. Also I'm suspicious that reusing older files that have sizes, etc set up hold on to old links that can drag down InDesign. I had hoped, as was suggested here, that saving as an .IDML then opening that to start working with would fix the lag. No luck there either. I agree with everyone here that this is unacceptable from Adobe. This thread was started back in late 2016.
