InDesign

A recent update seems to have left me with a beta version of Indesign. I have popups like 'Generative Expand beta'. I’m not a casual user, I use Indesign for paid work so don't want beta stuff. Also I'm quite competent so don't need 'ai' doing stuff for me. Perhaps we need ‘ai’ and ‘non ai’ update options? Sorry if I sound a bit annoyed as I don't know if Adobe read or reply on this forum. I see others have posted issues with different unwanted features. Advice for how to get rid of or disabling beta features (on an iMac) would be appreciated.

I installed the latest update to version 21, and InDesign won't launch. It doesn't give any errors, but it won't start. It doesn't do anything at all. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but that didn't work. Version 20 works perfectly, even the beta version 20.6. I tried reinstalling it by deleting the preferences, but that didn't work. I tried reinstalling the Creative app and reinstalling InDesign, but that didn't work.Bridge does the same thing, but it gives me error OXC0000142. InDesign, on the other hand, doesn't have any errors. Old Bridge works, but the beta version doesn't I have windows 11 last updatedWhat can I do?Thanks a lotNicola

 InDesign 21.6, Tahoe 26.6.2Mac Studio M4 Max, 16 CPU Cores, 40 GPU cores, 128GB unified memory. My hardware should not be struggling like it is. InDesign 21.6 introduced “new rendering technology to deliver a more consistent viewing experience” and the only consistent thing I have noticed is the performance being degraded. I am unable to use CPU Preview to even see if there is a performance change. Disabling GPU performance does not make CPU Preview clickable. I am not sure why this is the case, a restart did not fix. I am experiencing near-constant app hitching when doing any action, as well as constant white flashes while moving text boxes and graphics. If I pick up any graphic and move it, it basically freezes my app for a second or two before “catching up” with the processing and showing my movement 1-2 seconds after it happened with lots of stuttering. The white flash occurs every time you mouse click + drag on an item. This morning, InDesign was updated (version 21.6), and the split-view layout no longer works—or rather, it works only partially: the open document remains visible only on the left side, while the right side of the window is blank. I checked the zoom and page alignment, but nothing is visible.

Hello everyone.I want to obtain the paragraph style of the first paragraph of the selected text, and then obtain the leading (the original unchanged leading ) from the paragraph style.The premise is that the name and grouping of the paragraph style are uncertain.

Lately since the the most recent Indesign update, I've been having a lot of trouble getting the application to actually close. I can still click everything else and run files and make edits etc, but when I want to close the application nothing happens. I also turned on "Reset preferences on quit" but that didn't really help. Anyone know how to fix this? 

This new udpate gives me a contstant spinning wheel almost after each action I try to make. Select an item, move an item, open a panel, open a menu, anything really—each interactions causes the wheel to appear for 1-2sec. My productivity has been completely obliterated. Hello good people,I have a project in InDesign. The agency that created the documents worked quite professional. However, I am not impressed the way that created the styles for Headings level 2 to 6. They’ve created a heading style using Nested Styles. The heading continues with the text paragraph. Once I separate the heading from the main text using EM SPACE, the InDesign recognize the text before Em SPACE as being the header. See below. 1.4 Definition of requirements is the heading while the rest of the text is body text. Here is how they defined the style.  Well, my problem is when I generate the TOC. InDesign brings in the entire paragraph.So, I have to manually clean the TOC deleting the text between EM SPACE and dots. The dots have a character style named DOTS SPACING. The TOC should look like that.I tried to do that using FIND/CHANGE tool.FIND: tilda m (Em SPACE) + \w (any word character)However, how I set to stop to DOTS SPACING character style?Is there a way to do this automat

I am not using a table and there is only one column (fixed number) per text box. There are two columns and three rows of text boxes, and it is unclear whether the text inside is trying to align (top / bottom) to the other text boxes. What is clear is that the text is not centered the way I need it to be. Text appears to maintain its position within the text box when the text box is moved.

In the latest update of InDesign when I have multiple shapes and frames on the page selected, if my cursor is above something like a rectangle with content/picture inside it, I only move the picture that is below it at the time. Rather than the whole selection of objects as it used to. I tested before and after the update and it was something that only broke with 21.4. If I cursor over a solid shape object while still selecting the entire group (including the photo frame) that then moves the entire section but only if cursor above a placed fill object does it break. What could possibly be happening?

Not sure if it is Adobe or Apple, but when relinking file with long path and filename, it doesn't display full filename, which is often hard to find correct file in list.How do I display full path and file name on MacOS?  

When Application Frame in InDesign is off there's a small dark horizontal bar in the upper left corner of my screen. When I turn the Application Frame on then off the little black bar goes away but then comes right back on next launch. 

HiEach time I import an image into Indesign, the image loads okay, but I get the blue swirling ‘loading’ icon that never stops. I can save my document, and the menus still work but I can’t work on the actual page, and the only way I can clear it it to Force quit Indesign using Task Manager. This started about 2 weeks ago, and was fine before and I haven’t made any changes to my PC. I thought maybe it started after an update of Indesign, so I tried reverting to an older version, but still had the same problem.I have tried re-installing Indesign. (version21.3)  I use Windows 11.I really hope you can help please?Thanks Chris

hi,all in the title i hope. .pixel pdf get the same downsizing…any workaround  for a pdf export  to get only one special pixel image in hires when zooming in the pdf… ...no post process over “acrobat pro” for example wanted... many thanks"!tommes
