I’ve been having major issues with InDesign locking up ever since this update. It doesn’t crash so it doesn’t send a report either. At least two times every day, I need to either force quit the app or restart. It is very frustrating!

InDesign killer file, anyone?

In InDesign 2026, when you go to use the new “Open PDF” option, all the images open as 72dpi and in RGB mode. Is there a way to change the preferences on the images so the PDF opens in InDesign with a higher dpi and in CMYK mode?

I used the richpaste plugin (https://indiscripts.com/post/2015/10/richpaste-copy-and-paste-with-minimal-formatting) in InDesign to transfer text from Word to InDesign using the ctrl + c, ctrl + v commands. It helped me maintain formatting without complications when I selected a specific paragraph/character style. However, the plugin seems to have lost compatibility with the latest versions of InDesign.When I copy text from Word that is italicized and bold and paste it into InDesign using the Ctrl + X, Ctrl + V command, I select the paragraph style, but the font does not change. I need to either configure a character style or do it manually.With richpaste, I could just select the paragraph style and use the “paste with richpaste” option, and it would paste the paragraph formatting and character style all at once.I work with academic texts, so I need this process to be more agile, and richpaste helped a lot in that regard. I can't use the Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V commands with the option to

I am trying to open a file roughly 6MB in size. I have done this thousands of times in the past without issue. However, today, the system just shows the loading beach ball and completely stalls. If I click on another screen to complete a different task while waiting for InDesign to load and then hover over the icon in my dock, it says “not responding”. I have no idea what is causing this issue given the fact I created the original document without issue prior to today’s incident.

I am modifying a template I purchased and trying to get the paragraph styles and baseline grid to work together nicely. At the moment, when I set the paragraph style leading equal to the baseline grid (best practice, correct?) InDesign adds extra line breaks at the head of the paragraph. Example:Two blank lines between paragraphsThis is all in one text frame. There are two blank lines between the first paragraph and the block quote, and between the block quote and following paragraph. The baseline grid is 14pt. The leading for the paragraphs is 14pt. When I reduce the paragraph leading to 13pt, it goes back to one blank line between the paragraphs, which is what I want.Paragraph styles do not include any spacing before or after paragraphs that I can see. Am I missing something? Why is the grid/line spacing behaving this way?EDIT: Apologies, never mind, I found it. I have this same issue with every accessible document I export from InDesign and open in Adobe Acrobat. Under the Oder panel, everything is sectioned out correctly but under the Accessibility Tags, the sections are divided into individual lines (see the purple boxes). The only way I have found to fix this is to manually drag the containers together in the adobe Content panel. I have gone through every variation within the export settings and have combed through paragraph style settings (like turning off baseline gridding and optical margin alignment) to try and figure it out with no luck. I am working with a very simple test document with minimal formatting to try and solve it but am out of ideas.  

I was busily importing and editing graphics on page 68 of a large document, when suddenly the pink margin guides around each page suddenly disappeared!  I was using some keyboard commands and must have accidentally done something ... I have looked at various sections of the InDesign guidelines and have tried several things. Nothing brought them back (yet) & I've reversed each thing I tried in various dropdown menus. Can anyone help me restore those Margin Guides?  I can't work without them. Thanks

There is a really boring problem with simple tasks like selecting text or using the Find/Change feature in large documents. For example, this task has already taken about 1.5 hours, and I don’t know how long it will take. As you can see, the task is very simple: just find/change text elements. The exact query is not important; it may be selecting a sentence, changing a word, or something similar. And every time it takes ages.It started with about InDesign version 2022, but was not so noticeable. And for now, it has grown to disrupt the entire workflow.What could be done? I can divide the document into smaller parts, but it’s unwanted for this project, and there aren’t any warnings in the documentation about the document’s length. Problema al importar texto con ecuaciones matemáticas en indesign (MAC) de un documento word en .docx . Las fórmulas fueron creadas con el creador de ecuaciones. El texto ingresa y las ecuaciones no se ven. ¿que puedo hacer?

Indsign 21.2Mac OS 15.7.4 Hangs randomly on open and save of .inddl files. Happened with 3 separate files so far.Open for 2 files would simply freeze with spinning beach ball.Save just started- file will open, then the last text change made by contributor populates on my screen and the asterix comes up showing I have unsaved changes, so I cannot close the file unless I save. Sometimes get a save progress bar that does not move. Sometimes not.Restarted, reset prefs and cache. Logged out of CC. No difference.Only workaround is to open file in cc app and duplicate it. This creates a new file that has to be shared again for editing and review, which is to say a pain resharing and updating links to our editors.

Hello all,We are an Architectural firm where we are working towards moving to cloud storage (away from traditional servers across network).  We are primarily moving towards Autodesk Construction Cloud, however we recently found INDD files are not supported and recently seem to be having issues.It appears that the Adobe Cloud may be a great solution for storing, and working with InDesign files, as it appears this also allows for co-authoring, which would be terrific (assuming it works like Microsoft co-authoring).What I am unsure about and would like some clarification on is if/how InDesign linked assets can be stored and shared in the Adobe Cloud.  I don’t see anything about this in the help documentation and after going through, it sounds like links need to be local or on a server.Any clarification on this is appreciated, thank you.

Hi,noch nie untergekommen, dass eine einfache Linie “zu viele Anfasser” hat.Ich möchte die Linie per Maus einfach nur verlängern. Kann aber den mittleren Anfasser nicht anfassen… Hab ich versehentlich irgendeinen speziellen Modus in ID, Windows, neueste Version erwischt? Grüße!mycc  

I’ve seen this problem mentioned in the InDesign Community a few times in the past, but has anyone recently had problems with Share for Review comments unmapping from their pins? 

I have a top of the line machine. i9-14900k, Radeon 9070XT, 64gb DDR5 RAM, and a fast NVME drive.InDesign lags more than any adobe program, because of the AI Generated Alt Text, which is enabled by default and I cannot disable it, as I have a pro plan.Every time I drag an image onto a file, it lags for a good 5 seconds while the AI generated text does its thing. I want to disable this feature fully. I do not use any AI in InDesign.Please recommend a way to permanently disable this feature, as it nearly doubles my working time on any document, lagging with every adjustment. If I have to edit something in the registry to do so, or block something on a firewall, so be it. Please release me from this torture

So I have sets of illustration in separated artboard (same layer) in Illustrator. But when I am importing it to InDesign, some parts of the illustration is missing. It occurs on some illustration, especially reused graphic asset from Freepik. Funny enough, this isn't happening using the previous version of Indesign. Right now I am using the current latest 21.0 (not beta). What I have done for the workaround;saved into a new file, only the error artboard. not working.saved the error artboard into EPS, works. But I wish everything works in native format.  

The new feature auto generates pornographic alt text in pictures it cannot seem to identify. It does seems to work ok on real photos but all complex icons have nude people and body parts described. It seems to me instead of giving a warning that it can’t identify a content it correlaties it to pornographic content. I don’t know if there was no introduction/pop-up to this new feature or if I simply missed it, but auto generating nsfw text is not okay. Why is there no filter that stops it from doing so?   

When I go to update a review link in InDesign, I keep getting this error message "there was an error updating the artifact". After that, the link does not work for most people. I am signed in to Adobe. Everything is up-to-date.... But this issue still persists. Can Adobe please fix this issue? It's emarassing when I go to send the review link to my leaders and they just get an error message when they try opening it.   <Title renamed by moderator>

Hello! I am on MAC OS TAHOE and when i package, my link folder is empty, and i have an error message - i mean, i REALLY have to package with all the links… What do i do to resolve this issue! Thanks!  

I’m running the latest version on a MacBook Pro with Tahoe 26.2.So far I've noticed:Undo is unavailable (grayed out in the menu) Extreme lag time when importing large images Cursor gets stuck in the previous mode. (For example, if I switch to the magnifying glass to  enlarge the view then go back to the regular arrow, it stays in the magnifying glass. 

I installed Adobe 2026 on my imac. Now undo doesn’t work. It’s permanently grayed out. ID 21.2 on a Retina 5K running Ventura 13.7.8. If you look at screen shot, I can’t undo the neon effect I made or undo the letter ‘M’ I deleted. I’m opening 2025 ID to see if that helps. 

For the past year this program has become slow and unresponsive to the point of being completely unusable. Any command that I give the software is followed by a 5-15 second lag on average - this is not an exaggeration. This problem persists with existing documents, INDD and INDL, as well as with brand new documents saved to my desktop.  For example: Create a new document. When the document loads, create text box and begin to type. 15 seconds later the letters appear in the box. Actions taken during the lag are ignored by the software. Other applications on my machine are also significantly impacted by this performance issue, even the mouse stutters and freezes. Trying to use other software while InD is "thinking" can often result in the other applications to show a (not responding) error. Because InD is so unresponsive, I need to use Task Manager to force close - even this process can take up to a minute to complete. I'm not certain, but I believe the problem with lag is
