Hello, I am using InDesign CS6 and I want to design a Paragraph Rule that automatically starts with a Circle shape and ends with a Rectangle shape, as I have applied a specific color to the rule and need this custom look for my layout. Since the standard Paragraph Rules options are limited, could you please suggest if there is any built-in feature, a specific Stroke Style setting, or a JavaScript/JSX script that can achieve this effect so it moves dynamically with the text? If Paragraph Rules cannot support these custom shapes at the ends, I would appreciate any advice on how to automate this using Anchored Objects or any other professional workaround. I’ve been having major issues with InDesign locking up ever since this update. It doesn’t crash so it doesn’t send a report either. At least two times every day, I need to either force quit the app or restart. It is very frustrating!

scenario…multipage pdf at size 8.5 x 11 is placed at x0 y0 on 11x17 pages in indesign. Now every placed page needs to be duplicated or “stepped up to the right at x8.5 y0so it look s like 2 of the same pages placed on an 11x17 looking for a script that can automate this copy and paste scenario for all pages

I have a column in a table that contains numbers between 1-100, and I would like the cells to fill with a color based on the numerical value. For example, 80-100 would have a green fill, 50-79 would be yellow, and 0-49 would be a red fill. Is there a way to do this?

After the most recent update I had to create a document using assets from older indesign files that previously never gave any issues. Now the dropshadows from multiple (different objects) move all over the place (away from the object as if theres a fixed lightsource) when I move these objects. When I turn off the dropshadow of the object, move the object and then turn the shadow back on it will have the shadow in it's correct position. When I move the object around multiple times it will start glitching the entire page until I move my cursor over it again. When I change the path of the object the displaced shadow will snap back into it's correct position, making me think this is a graphical display issue.  In the example below you can see how the dropshadows moved. (left one moved up when moving the object down and to the left. Right one stayed closer to it's original position but offset, middle is the original position before copying and moving).  i'm working on a

Ever since I updated to Indesign 2026, anytime I place an illustrator file, there is a fairly high chance that one or more of the layers refuses to display or the file will be in a rolled back state. Its not just a visual glitch, when I export to PDF, the placed file will still not show what its supposed to. It seems to happen more frequently when the illustrator file is larger, but I’ve also had it happen on tiny files. The ONLY fix I’ve found so far is to save the illustrator file as a PDF and import that.  

At a juncture now where it’s necessary to create a matte spot varnish file for text only in an illustrated edition. The text is comprised of body text and titles in K only, and hundreds of sidenote annotations in a custom pms spot (a Pantone grey mix), which, due to the unforeseen effects of the printer’s UV LED offset process, are rendering now as an undesirably glossy text on our matte, natural finish Arctic Volume White stock, deliberately chosen for its non-glare properties. We’re preserving, however, the richly saturated and glossy look on the imagery that UV LED printing introduced (so a flood coat won’t do), but the text, in a dense and lengthy scholarly edition, can’t be encumbered with glare. The printer uses only Toyo ink and after many conversations with them and Toyo in the EU (where the printer is) the kabosh has definitively been put on Toyo Ink resurrecting their matte formula, eliminated 8 years ago. I want to add a colored block below the numbers in a paragraph style, so I thought of using an underline.I tried it, but it didn't work.Neither id2026 nor 2024 worked.Did I do something wrong?

Just like in the Control Panel, where font selection is filtered and suggested as you type.This feature seems to be missing in the Paragraph Styles panel, the Find and Replace Fonts panel, and the Composite Font Settings.It’s very inconvenient.I wonder if there will be improvements in version 2026.Also, it’s very inconvenient that you can’t quickly jump to the current font’s position in the font list.

Currently having an issue with my undo/history function. I seem to only be able to go back 2 or 3 commands before the entire history disappears. pls help!

Linked image within illustrator file not appearing when placed in indesign.I have a map created in Illustrator with a background (flattened) tiff which displays fine in Illustrator. Once placed into InDD, the tiff won't appear (layer is ON and printing) and doesn't get included in exports (thus eliminating a rendering issue of any kind). This has happened on 2 separate files but is fine in others with the same set-up. On occasion the tiff will reappear…This is fundamental to my job.Illustrator 30.2.1InDesign 21.3OS 15.7.4 (24G517)

Hi everyone,I have several computers that have InDesign 2026 installed.On one win11 machine, the first two general preferences are missing.I uninstalled using the Creative Cloud Cleaner exe.Reinstalled the 21.2 (available just today to the east coast of the US)Those general preferences are still missing!I have reset as well as deleted cache files.Any suggestions as to what I can try to get a fully-restored version of InDesign working again?

Hello, why can't I upload files to Indd when it worked fine for years. Most graphic designers and studios work with NAS devices. I can't save anything, I have to make copies and restore files. Can something be done about it? Thank you very much rh     <Title renamed by MOD>

Out of the blue, InDesign started to hang indefinitely upon startup yesterday. InDesign v21.3.0.60 on macOS 14.8.3 on am M1. The splash screen appears, then stops at "late initialisations", and eventually spits out an error message/trace of 87 pages, and that's it.Strange thing is it starts normally if I disconnect the machine from the internet.Out of desparation I resorted to "AI" and threw the error output at Claude, which suspected that libtypekit might be involved in the problem, but ultimately could not help.Has anyone seen this behaviour? Any hints how to fix this, and get nomal startup when connected to the internet?

InDesign 2026 (21.2) x64 Changes resolution when opening a file from within the application. This resizes the window so that it is completely impossible to grab any of the corners or header bar. I have to quit the application and restart. Happens around 30% of the time when opening a document while InDesign is already open. Screenshot attached. Windows 11 laptop running multiple monitors. I should add, this started happening a few updates ago.  

Bonjour, je viens de tester la mise à jour InDesign 21.3 sur Windows 11. J’ai une petite fenêtre rouge en bas d’écran qui me demande de tenir Windows à jour. Je ne peux pas fermer cette fenêtre rouge. Et comme je suis dans une grande entreprise, je n’ai pas la possibilité d’intervenir sur Windows, c’est une version imposée par l’entreprise et sécurisée. Je ne peux pas non plus quitter InDesign qui me dit qu’il y a une tâche en arrière plan, mais si j’ouvre la fenêtre “tâches en arrière plan” ,il n’y a rien. Je viens donc de revenir à la version 21.2 qui fonctionne sans problème. Une solution ?

We are facing an issue where package generation is triggered successfully from the application UI. payload.json files are generated correctly on the Azure VM. However, PDFs are not generated. The system does not receive proper response from InDesign Server 21.1 after processing. PDF outputs are not generated. No clear error visible in event viewer logs. We are currently blocked since the upgrade. Any insights would be helpful

 Hi,I am trying to troubleshoot a color profile issue. Here is the setup:Photoshop contains JPG - channel blend applied to remove blackI believe the color profile of the JPG is RGB:This is linked into an Illustrator file, which also contains a linked vector PDFas well as some linework.My Illustrator document mode is RGB. When I export the file using Illustrator Default, I get a PDF that looks correct:But when I link into InDesign, the colors are wrong and there is a band at the top where one of the links is offset from the artboard. My suspicion is something to do with the linked vector PDF, which shows no color space when linked in Illustrator:I have been playing around with different settings and tutorials but I am not sure how to correct this. I would be very grateful for any help with this, I am new to color profiles. I assume that it is related to the way InDesign is handling the file because the output appears correct in PDF viewer as shown above.Here are the color settings of my

When having a file open in InDesign 2024 on my Macbook Pro (Sonoma 14.2.1 OS), close the lid, plug into my LG UltraFine external monitor and wake the computer up, the InDesign window is still open and all the tool bars are visible and working, but the area where the artwork is becomes black/blank and I can't see the work. I can see the bounding boxes if I select all, but no image or text. The window is entirely blank. The same thing happens if I'm working on my LG monitor, unplug the display and then open the Macbook to work. I always have my Macbook closed when plugged into the LG display and use both an external keyboard and trackpad. The solution is to always save, quit InDesign and reopen. If I go through that it works again. Is it a bug with Apple? Is it a bug with Adobe? My LG firmware, OS and Adobe InDesign are all updated to the latest versions.
