I’m working on making my PDF exports more robust and accessible, and therefore including Articles. In a recent project, I fumbled through InDesign’s Articles panel (not a great experience) and managed to see the <Art> tags appropriately names and exported across into the resulting PDF. But in Acrobat, there’s also an Articles panel that shows nothing. What gives?Is there a separate, different thing in Acrobat for articles outside of Accessibility Tags? Or did I miss something to have InDesign automatically build these, too? Any insight is helpful. What is the recommendation regarding the use confidential text with InDesign's Style Packs Auto Style feature?The feature works well, but I’m curious from a technical standpoint whether the AI Auto Style/Style Packs feature transmits selected text or derived representations of that text to Adobe or any subprocessor? If yes, are there encryption controls, and what are the retention periods, logging, backup handling, and deletion schedules?Also, is the text used for product improvement or model training?I don't have any evidence of this happening, but the “processing on cloud” message compelled me to do my due diligence before diving fully into using this feature.

The properties panel, when on and open, creates freezing trouble when working on older files not created with the current version of Indesign I’m using.  It’s a significant freeze/delay when clicking between text and image containers and text or select tools.  Even having the type tool open, things like highlighting a word can fail.  I might get 3 letters out of a 4 letter word highlighted before it freezes.  Selecting two image boxes and a text box might lock it up for 2 to 8 seconds. Or it may just skip one of four items I tried to select, such as the third item because it was in the middle of a freeze while I was clicking that one. etc...This very specifically was detailed by another user 7 years ago and the topic was closed stating version 14 had fixed this issue. I’ve seen this problem mentioned in the InDesign Community a few times in the past, but has anyone recently had problems with Share for Review comments unmapping from their pins? 

When having a file open in InDesign 2024 on my Macbook Pro (Sonoma 14.2.1 OS), close the lid, plug into my LG UltraFine external monitor and wake the computer up, the InDesign window is still open and all the tool bars are visible and working, but the area where the artwork is becomes black/blank and I can't see the work. I can see the bounding boxes if I select all, but no image or text. The window is entirely blank. The same thing happens if I'm working on my LG monitor, unplug the display and then open the Macbook to work. I always have my Macbook closed when plugged into the LG display and use both an external keyboard and trackpad. The solution is to always save, quit InDesign and reopen. If I go through that it works again. Is it a bug with Apple? Is it a bug with Adobe? My LG firmware, OS and Adobe InDesign are all updated to the latest versions.

I’m saving 175 inside pages in InDesign of a novel to be uplaoded to Amazon KDP, as a HD pdf using the default ID settings. After multiple errors uploading, they said the issue was that hey don’t support a LaTeX/pdfTeX formatted pdf. I’ve never heard of that, but would like to know if I can adjusst that in the settings before saving the pdf. They said they prefer PDF/X-1a formatted pdf.

I’ve designed two reflowable ePubs in the last 48 hours with same image alignment error. I design them all of the time, so it’s not me. Images are not center aligned though I’ve selected align center layout and even manually added object export custom alignment center to the image with same result of left alignment. Please advise. Thank you.

PDF Comments panel corrupts Czech diacriticsInDesign 2026 on Windows 11 displays corrupted Czech characters in the Window → PDF Comments panel.The corruption affects:imported PDF comments, the search edit box while typing!The same INDD and PDF display correctly on other machines - but not all. Rest of UI has no problems.Verified:identical InDesign installation (hash comparison of files), identical PDF, different Acrobat versions tested, Czech and English UI tested, reinstallation of InDesign tested  identical UI fonts (Segoe family)Therefore the issue appears to be specific to the PDF Comments panel text rendering/input subsystem rather than PDF parsing.This should be á č ď é ě í ň ó ř š ť ú ů ý ž, the same changes appears in comments  

I installed Adobe 2026 on my imac. Now undo doesn’t work. It’s permanently grayed out. ID 21.2 on a Retina 5K running Ventura 13.7.8. If you look at screen shot, I can’t undo the neon effect I made or undo the letter ‘M’ I deleted. I’m opening 2025 ID to see if that helps. 

I would like to understand why the new Generative AI options for inDesign that cost credits, were on by default?Briefly, I have ended up with an annual medical report full of hundreds of unwanted, incorrect alt texts that I have had to remove.To add insult to injury, these unrequested alt texts cost credits! There is no simple way to strip these out (tip: please add this feature) I have had to resort to a python script to clean this document This could have been avoided if my inDesign update had offered me this feature via an opt-in dialog.

HiEach time I import an image into Indesign, the image loads okay, but I get the blue swirling ‘loading’ icon that never stops. I can save my document, and the menus still work but I can’t work on the actual page, and the only way I can clear it it to Force quit Indesign using Task Manager. This started about 2 weeks ago, and was fine before and I haven’t made any changes to my PC. I thought maybe it started after an update of Indesign, so I tried reverting to an older version, but still had the same problem.I have tried re-installing Indesign. (version21.3)  I use Windows 11.I really hope you can help please?Thanks Chris

Hi all,I’m hoping someone has seen this before, because I’m running out of things to try.I’m using the latest version of InDesign on Windows 11 Pro. While working on presentations, InDesign initially behaves normally, but after several minutes it gradually starts to malfunction.The first symptom is usually that Ctrl+Z / Undo becomes unavailable. After that, other problems begin to appear:Images become difficult or impossible to resize or place Scrolling through the document becomes intermittent The spinning blue Windows cursor sometimes appears I can usually close and save the document, although occasionally saving also fails InDesign itself will not close normally I have to force-close the application through Task ManagerThere are no error messages and the application does not fully crash. It simply becomes increasingly unresponsive.The issue happens during normal work, including selecting objects, editing text, moving items and placing or resizing images. It does not appear to be lim

When I try to delete Indesign files from my desktop, even if the files are small - it can take up to 60 seconds for things to fully delete. Same when using box or google drive folders and copying to desktop. These are small files, and no other program’s files take the amount of time the Indesign files do. Sometimes even renaming takes up to 45 seconds. What’s up with this? Mac OS 15.7.7, Indesign 21.4.1. 

Why I can’t report a Bug in the Indesign Community?The names in the “open recent” menu are not readable. the are lay over by other letters.Indesign 21.4.1 on MacOS 26.5.1  

We have InDesign files on our company data drive which is storred on a server.Some of the external content we link to from InDesign are storred in a MS Teams site.When person 1 adds linked content, the path is something like C:\Users\person 1\company name\site name\folder\file name.extension.If person 2 edits the InDesign document, the link is broken as InDesign seems to use adbolute links, so the linked content is pointing to a location (C:\Users\Person 1\… and not person 2.How do we use InDesign with linked content on MS Teams or SharePoint, when the paths change for each user or is this not possible? Thank you for your help. Chris.

Hello, I have a multi-page AI file placed in my InDesign document. After making changes to the AI file, I save it. When I check the Links panel in InDesign, the yellow triangle alert appears. I ALT-click the update button, and InDesign updates all the links, but the changes I made in the AI file are not reflected in InDesign. This is a process I've done many times before without any issues. The same problem occurred with a different file yesterday. I've tried restarting my PC in case it was a glitch, but that didn't help. Do you have any idea why the link update function isn't working as it should?   <Title renamed by MOD>

InDesign 21.4.1 on Mac Studio M1 Ultra Tahoe 26.5.1. Pretty simple and annoying bug. I am unable to stack/group panels on my workspace. This only pertains to the bottom 1-2 for some reason. You are able to place more panels below  I would confidently assume this is a reproducible bug. This has been present for the past few versions but I am just now reporting it. The workspace panel is one of the most important features for InDesign workflow and this is the second (albeit, not as annoying) bug I found that I didn’t even need to try to find…   From the gif you can see it seems like the bottom 2 groups cannot be stacked. It doesn’t seem like it matters what panel you grab.

I’ve been working on medium sized branded documents (20-30) pages and every time, EVERY TIME, I open indesign I have to troubleshoot the activated Adobe fonts. Every time I open the document - the font’s aren’t activated, so I have to spend sometimes 30 minutes trying to activate them by restarting both Indesgn and Adobe CC. I find this system and process ridiculously clunky and sub-par to the price users pay for CC. Why is this happening and what is the fix? 

I’m looking for a way to read the value app.findColorPreferences.findWhat, and find out what swatch it’s currently looking for. It gives the error 30615 The property is not applicable in the current state.I am able to set it:app.findColorPreferences.findWhat = app.activeDocument.swatches.item("SWATCH_NAME")Is there a way to read what swatch is currently selected in the dialog, similar to findGrepPreferences and findTextPreferences?

In the latest update of InDesign when I have multiple shapes and frames on the page selected, if my cursor is above something like a rectangle with content/picture inside it, I only move the picture that is below it at the time. Rather than the whole selection of objects as it used to. I tested before and after the update and it was something that only broke with 21.4. If I cursor over a solid shape object while still selecting the entire group (including the photo frame) that then moves the entire section but only if cursor above a placed fill object does it break. What could possibly be happening?

I am trying to create a paragraph style like the following:The problem is that I am unable to control the space between the first and second lines. Is there a flaw in the way I have set it up if I can’t control this?
