I work with a colleague. We use the same InDesign files. I have recently encountered a problem. It only happens to me; my colleague does not have this problem, even though he uses the same files. Text sometimes “jumps” down a bit when I enlarge the text box, change the font size, or simply duplicate a page. I have already researched this, but have not yet found an explanation for it and nothing has helped. We both use the font via Adobe Fonts.

Hello, after the last post with at last count about 46k views, this is a major issue with a thread that is now missing? Some have said it has resolved but I haven’t been able to get it resolved because Windows Update KB5078127 isn’t available for me after checking for updates (in AUS running 25H2).The problem is that for files saved on OneDrive, InDesign crashes upon open or when trying to save.What another helpful user has said:Discovered a workaround on this, thanks to the help of our support company Air IT Group. On opening the file, make a change in the document (e.g add a cyan square to pasteboard), rather than 'save', click 'save as' and save as over the existing file name > then close the file > reopen the file again and 'save' function should now work without falling over, erroring or crashing out. Vor ca. 4 Wochen ging bei mir beim Starten von InDesign zum ersten Mal ein Fenster auf, dass mich darauf hinwies, dass mein Account von mehr als einer Person benutzt wird. Ich habe ein Ein-Personen-Abo, darf es aber auf zwei PCs gleichzeitig nutzen. In dem Fenster stand, dass ich mein Passwort ändern soll, andernfalls würde es von Adobe geändert.Der Chat mit einem Mitarbeiter ergab, dass ich tatsächlich ein Abo für zwei PCs gleichzeitig habe (schön, wenn man es auch noch bestätigt bekommt) und dass ich das Passwort ändern sollte, sowie einen ggf. 3. PC aus der Liste der erlaubten Geräte entfernen soll. Es gab keinen 3. PC, ich sollte dennoch alle Geräte aus der Liste entfernen. Das habe ich auch getan und das Passwort geändert – doch nun taucht die Meldung wieder auf.Früher konnte man in einem Fenster, wenn dort 3 PCs angezeigt wurden (meine Chefin nutzte manchmal noch die Programme, macht sie aber nicht mehr), einfach ein Gerät deaktivieren. If I have an .indd project file inside a OneDrive folder on my desktop (I like to work on the cloud to avoid any loss of data), after a few saves the .indd file gets corrupted. What is this mess? why won’t Adobe update such a simple feature and make it work with Cloud apps? This is 2026 ladies and gentlemen.

Is there a function to remind reviewers?It would be very helpful if the InDesign Adobe review function had a reminder feature that could be set to remind reviewers if they haven’t opened the link within a set period of time. My problem is that my people don’t always get to it right away and then forget. That delays the production process. If Review could have a reminder function like Adobe Sign (or if it is there and I do not know about it) that would be extremely helpful. I understand I could export it and then send it as an Adobe Sign document and then import comments back into the document but I’d prefer to keep it all in the InDesign Review eco-system. 

Hi everyone,Today on two different computers, both running the latest InDesign, I started getting this error every time I edit a file:“InDesign is unable to save this file. We tried, but it appears to be damaged.”Then, when I try to close the file, I get another message:“Could not complete your request because of a database error. The file ‘InDesign Defaults’ is damaged (Error code: 1).”I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling InDesign, resetting preferences, testing files saved locally, in the cloud, and on a USB stick, but nothing helps. I can open and save files as long as I don’t make any changes, but once I edit anything, the error appears.Everything worked fine yesterday, and now both computers are affected. Is anyone else seeing this problem, or does anyone know how to fix it?

After updating to both Tahoe 26.1 and ID 2026, I can no longer package files located on my Synology NAS.  I'm getting the "indesign could not package the document cannot copy necessary linked files" error. I can package if all of the files are on my local drive. This is fine, except I have thousands of files on the NAS that my studio works from.  Anyone have a solution for this? I'm going nuts.  My phone call with Adobe support was "if you resaave all of the linked files with new names in new locations, they will re-link up" This is a nightmare for a studio, so its a non-starter.  Affinity works fine, and would be a PITA to move to, but I'd prefer for now to stick with ID. 

I was forced to update to InDesign 2026. (Mac Mini, Ventura OS) It’s being extremely buggy. I’m now having issues where I’ll open a doc from the Book panel and the doc opens but a modal box stays up saying “Open 1 documents” and typically hangs showing the name of a placed image. Of course, as with everything CC, the “Cancel” button never actually cancels. I can’t do anything but Force Quit and then the fun of having InDesign say files may be damaged.I’m in the middle of a colossal project and basically have to be prepared for a hard crash every moment and don’t dare leave any files open. The Book features is super buggy, but these inherited files were set up this way (due to somebody not understanding text variables for RH, so every chapter is a new volume with 6 master pages, thanks).Has anyone experienced this and figured it out? I now do keep updating InDesign, hoping this is addressed.I’m syncing on DropBox, I’ve selected “Make Available Offline” to hundreds of GB of files so they

This pops up when copy/pasting a vector image from Illustrator to InDesign. Only from recent update.Needs to be fixed ASAP.   

Adobe is padding updates with AI and other “features” - your description, not mine. These are causing crashes and freezing and generally disrupting the users’ workflow, which is counter productive. Given the cost of Creative Cloud it is inexcusable that users are losing time and money trying to work this nonsense. Designers are quite capable of deciding what that want to do with their documents without Adobe forcing buggy options into our work. Kindly STOP this practice - or perhaps Adobe is prepared to pay us for lost time. If you’s like examples, simply read through the MANY posts detailing these issues.

After the most recent update I had to create a document using assets from older indesign files that previously never gave any issues. Now the dropshadows from multiple (different objects) move all over the place (away from the object as if theres a fixed lightsource) when I move these objects. When I turn off the dropshadow of the object, move the object and then turn the shadow back on it will have the shadow in it's correct position. When I move the object around multiple times it will start glitching the entire page until I move my cursor over it again. When I change the path of the object the displaced shadow will snap back into it's correct position, making me think this is a graphical display issue.  In the example below you can see how the dropshadows moved. (left one moved up when moving the object down and to the left. Right one stayed closer to it's original position but offset, middle is the original position before copying and moving).  i'm working on a

So I have sets of illustration in separated artboard (same layer) in Illustrator. But when I am importing it to InDesign, some parts of the illustration is missing. It occurs on some illustration, especially reused graphic asset from Freepik. Funny enough, this isn't happening using the previous version of Indesign. Right now I am using the current latest 21.0 (not beta). What I have done for the workaround;saved into a new file, only the error artboard. not working.saved the error artboard into EPS, works. But I wish everything works in native format.

Hello, I’ve set my text frame to have 2 columns in the text frame options, but I’m unsure how to adjust only one column. I’d like one column to be shorter than the other, but I can’t select them individually since they’re treated as a single object due to the text frame settings. Do I need to create a new text frame with a single column, or is there a way to adjust the columns separately after the fact? Thanks!

Simple enough, really. I had a bunch of layers that contained various elements for a spread.I’m not an InDesign “power user” so I’m kinda picking my way through this.I decided that the best way for me to stay organised was to put all of those elements into a single “spread” layer, so that I can have a different layer for each spread. I couldn’t move the layers into other layers, so I grouped each layer’s contents & then moved all of the groups into my “spread” layer.Unfortunately, InDesign, like Illustrator, treats guides quite differently to what I’m used to in Photoshop. (Nothing wrong with that, of course, I’m just not used to it.)Bottom line is that I went to delete all of my original layers, only to be told that they contain guides.I need all my guides.Can I move them to another layer? Can I even find out where they are? I can’t seem to see them as objects the way I can in illustrator.I suppose it’s not the end of the world if I leave all my original layers there, just so I ca

Hi, not sure if I’m having an off day or not here. I asked a college and they were also puzzled. I’m placing high resolution images into Indesign.The document size without a doubt is 1920x1080 px.The Images are large stock images, bigger than this document size at 300ppi.When placed at 100% these images are smaller than the document? For example: One image is 3840x2160 px at 300ppi. When placed into a 1920x1080px document making it the full page size indesign says it is 208.3% scaled, and the effective ppi is 144?  This makes no sense, the effective ppi should exceed 300, and the scale should be less than 100%?!  See link panel and item selection image for details.Please help. 

Hi everyone,I hope you can help me. InDesign keeps crashing on my laptop. It has always worked fine, but for the past two months I’ve been having constant problems.This is what happens:I work with both existing and new documents. As soon as I try to save them, I either get error code (2) or a message saying that InDesign cannot complete the request. After that, the program stops responding (I have to close it via Task Manager) or it crashes completely.I work on a Windows laptop and save files via OneDrive (this is required for work). I have already tried the following: Saving to a different location so the file path is not too long Using short file names Setting the recovery files to a different location Reinstalling the program Creating new files to check whether the issue is related to the original design Using only fonts that come with InDesign and no custom installed fonts Reinstalling my own fonts Creating a recovery file Saving as IDML and then editing/saving that

Hello,This issue is driving me nuts! I'm sure there's an easy fix, but I can't figure it out.On certain .indd files, I'm unable to edit any text box. This happens with more than enough files that I can't imagine these files are all corrupt, but not ALL files. When I single click on the text box, I see the normal blue frame with handles (2nd image below). When I double click to edit, the frame turns brown (1st image below) and I'm unable to edit anything. I've tried unlocking all objects (Object/Unlock all Objects), but it's grayed out. There are no other layers on top of these text boxes and they all share a Master Page (which does not include the text boxes I'm trying to edit). Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone!I’ve just updated my Indesign to 21.2 (WIN11) because I wanted to check out the new AI-Feature to generate Alternative Text directly in Indesign.I checked out my credits (500) before. But I can’t get my Indesign to recognize/ use these credits.I already checked out my CC and signed in again but the Problem ist still there: the ALT-Text-Option remains greyed out (see attached image)Anyone knows how to get around this?Your help is much appreciated, thanks in advance.
