On Mac Premiere Pro 23.2. Finally figured out the solution to this: The timeline cursor / playhead has to be at the START of the clip you want to 'frame-hold'. NOT where you made the edit at the end of the frame you want held. I've been having this issue for years; and finally decided to take the time to figure it out. Simple, yet stupid. For those who advocated for the 'export-frame' method (camera icon): yes, this works (I use it all the time) - as long as you're handling the entire edit. If you're handing this off to another editor / suite (think offline to online), the 'hold-frame' works best becaue you don't need to send the additional image files that they will need for the relink.

I hate having to re-order the headers in the project window to my liking everytime I start a new project. For example, I want the 'Media Duration' to be the first column after the file name: but I also want to keep the 'Media Start' and 'Media end' - just want to have them come later. Any way we can do this in a universal fashion / preset? I'll hang up and listen - thank you!

Hi, Just reading your response now, and I had a question: why the discrepancy in how Adobe treats text from app to app? AE, Premiere, ID, Illustrator: they all have different interfaces and features - not to mention limitations - in regards to treating text. This, I don't understand. Why wouldn't they all be similar, since they're all part of the same family of apps? The small caps, for example, should be a staple of text treatment in Premiere since we can easily do this in AE etc. Thanks Paul

Hi Stefan, The issue is that the background video, when appearing behind the text in the title tool, causes playback to stutter in my program monitor. I leave the text tool window open on a second monitor for efficiency. This way I don't continually open / close that window. When I change from one timeline to another (in projects that have multiple timelines open), the text tool automatically defaults to having the BG video appear. So I always have to toggle the 'Show bg video' icon twice until I get back to the checkboard pattern. There are times when I need to bounce back and forth between timelines in rapid succession. This means always having to toggle the icon: instead of it 'remembering' my selection. As far as your comment goes: "I don't know why you'd want to do this since otherwise how will you know how to position the title against the visual elements?". The answer is simple: I can see that in the program window. Or I can chose to turn on the 'show BG video" Either way, this is a personal preference. And besides, once the text is 'placed', I often need to make type adjustments / changes due to client whims. I certainly don't need to see placement for this. Thanks for your assistance. Paul

This happens to me all the time. It's infuriating. And the above suggestion of 'create a title where there is no video and move it afterwards' is not a solution. Especially when dealing with a zillion titles. I've had this happen to me since CC2015, constantly and consistently. Any ideas re: solutions? Mac OS 10.12.6 Premiere 12.0.0 MacPro 5,1 sequence settings: it happens on various seqs Thanks
