It may be a separate issue. I've contacted Adobe and they were supposed to follow up, but I never got the call and 3 weeks later they changed my ticket's status to "Closed". I'm trying to contact them again; truth be told, I've been working with Adobe systems 10+ years now and the low level of professionalism I've experienced from them in the past month is close to convince me that they can no longer keep up. We've been having a very hard time since 2017.1. As far as drives, we are working with a mix of SSDs and highly-powerful RAID, and although our main footage is 8K R3Ds, we did not have any problem working with them in the past. It didn't seem to change anything on my end. I'm seeing 20 mins+ lag. Import progress bar fills normal speed but once it's full, I get the spinning rainbow wheel and the app registers as "Not Responding". If I wait patiently, it does finish importing eventually anf the app comes back to life. ... View more

I can confirm that Premiere used to handle import of 8K R3D very well until 2017.1. I've been trying tonfind  solution for this issue ever since, and was disappointed to see that today's patch did not fix it. Takes me around 20 mins to import anything right now. ... View more

So I've run a bunch of tests and there definitely seems to be something wrong as projects get larger when it comes to importing assets. Please do note that I am speaking of large projects (mine is over 10,000 assets big so far) but I am running into issues as soon as I have over a thousand or so files in my project. I've tried moving the project file to a different local drive, moving the assets, clearing the cache, moving the cache directories to a new local drive, clearing the preferences, re-installing all Adobe products, and ran a few different tests on dummy test projects to see if there could have been a Legacy issue stemming from my older master project. All points to something Adobe changed in the latest version; so... please let's try to find the source of the problem and let's roll out a quick-patch as soon as possible?
