I think you are losing sight of the fact that it is you that has a configurational problem not the majority of Photoshop users-the issue is far from generic to every Photoshop user Take for instance Rob. He was here, not sure why as he claimed to have no issue with 2017, but then when asked to do the text-tool test he also has the problem. There are ten fold people out there that have simply not ran into the problem yet because they don't or have not used a particular tool in PS yet. You are only claiming that the majority of Photoshop users do not have this because of their absence from actually reporting it. Many may just look at this thread and not chime in. Some - like me, lived with it for a month without reporting it. Many may have not even upgraded yet. This is to illustrate how you are willing to believe in just your perception of the issue. By the wide variety of machines described here - Mac AND Windows, clean install AND well-working season installs, I can pretty much guarantee that it is more widespread than engineers are reporting. Also, after the HiDPI issue, Bridge PNG issue, Premiere GTXxxx issue, and many others, many users, myself included, just resign ourselves to downgrading and ignoring issues altogether until Adobe fixes it. My personal opinion is that it is due to third party developer CPU integer instruction code that is being used. Well, when the only thing that has changed is the CC version, then perhaps Adobe should buy a front page ad at the Times telling all other manufactures in the world about their change to the type tool. Give me a break. A manufacturer getting their software to work with a computer running other software is kind of a standard expectation. Perhaps Adobe bit off more than it can chew. Or, maybe this is the new way - as we go forward, people will have to eventually have a PC JUST for Adobe CC. I'm getting tired of Adobe. If you read this forum many people are reluctant to let Adobe engineers 'Remote Desktop' to machines, but even if they did this problem is related to high CPU and disk activity-at the best of times RD'ing is slow, can you imagine what it would be like on a machine with it's processor maxed out? I guess I missed the "reluctance". Having remotely supported thousands of users in my lifetime, I can tell you only a problem with the internet is a deal breaker. Nothing else posses impossibility. Even with an event-related CPU issue, you could service 6 people in the time it takes to physically visit one. My point is you should not be having people experiment - you should tell them to roll back a version and wait. Their time is for them to put food on THEIR table, not to put food on YOUR table. Asking them to jump through hoops is insanely disrespectful. The mere fact that Adobe does not realize this exemplifies the subscription-based attitude - "We're going to make money no matter what, and you'll get what you get". If the software is bad, perhaps the subscribers are not doing their part... Cause you know, the subscribers are unpaid-interns in Adobe's software testing department. I know for developers it's gotten to be a major task to get software working properly on all the OS and hardware platforms they have to deal with now plus mobile platforms. It would benefit everyone if Adobe just abandoned the Mac OS platform. We all know it is no longer relevant and costs everyone money to have developers of all softwares also build for it. Installing latest version vivifies all issues. I'm no expert, but that tells me something is wrong with the latest version of software. Nonsense. 32GB Ram, Quadro M5000 (with up to date driver), all SSD's and a super fast CPU - everything works great except when using the TEXT TOOL. I tried with GPU performance disabled. Text tool is hard to select text and once selected, there is delay before you can use menu tools. Taskmanager does not reveal reactions to anything when text tool is in use. There is literally ZERO possibility nobody at Adobe can reproduce this. Stop buying time and just fix it. Trevor, that is so funny. When we setup clients, we have this decision tree and part of it goes something like this - if the person is over 50 and does not design or program, then they automatically are marked for a 27" 1920x1080. That is an unrefined resolution - to large to do meaningful graphics as pixels are too large. But it is great for failing vision, or people that put tons of crap between them and their screen (hence they are farther away) - something designers and programmers don't do. You essentially use an even more ridiculous one. I use 4x 24" screens, all at 1920x1200, as like you I prefer 16:10. But there is no way in heck I'd use 1920x1200 on something over 24". It would be like playing with Duplo blocks, when you know you really want to play with Legos. I have never, in my life, seen a professional designer use a 30" screen on such a low resolution. Even Apple's quite popular 30" Cinema display is 2560x1600 - giving you about the equivalent of 1920x1200 on 24". Also, I have never seen a designer, myself included, that WORKS at 100% zoom. Unless somehow the resolution of the file serendipitously is that 100% is tight enough to do meaningful edits. I have no idea what your infatuation with 100% zoom really means. I really don't think zoom level has anything to do with this issue. It's like someone who is using Word for the first time and keeps misunderstanding the relationship to font size and zoom. Again, as many have pointed out, this might not be their main computer. Some people are so valuable to their clients, the client wants them available. I am freelance, I work from home, but I am so important to my clients that I have to be available to handle any issue - ANY issue, even when I am visiting my parents, for example. Not JUST Photoshop, programming, tech, design, a server borks, commission checks not generating. ANY issue. Being that I pretty much feel obligated to be available so easily (because they compensate me well), it means I have to have tech with me, usually, all the time. I'd probably find another line of work if that meant lugging a 17" laptop around all the time. My Yoga Pro - I don't even notice it. I always have a small backpack anyway. Lastly, Illustrator is already fixed. So, why are essentially visually-identical UI's programmed so differently? Maybe Adobe should have programmed the UI of Photoshop as it did Illustrator, instead of requiring Microsoft to be able to do the same thing in multiple ways. I guess that's Microsoft's fault? At a Convention we put on recently, I had to use my Yoga to change some last minute things. Though not comfortable, I was able to do it - easily for Illustrator, much less easily for InDesign. Or, they were thinking they didn't want to buy two laptops, because they normally work on a desktop, and want a secondary machine - not to work on, but to be able to work on. I'd hate to have to travel with a 17" laptop. Having 4x 24" screens like I do, I hate to work on laptops-period. I didn't buy a tiny notebook for image editing. I have a desktop with 4 screens I work on. However, I have been finding it a little hard to take my desktop and 4 screens, with keyboard and mouse to clients, or on trips. You now, there was a time when we all used 15" screens on our desktops. Then 17", then 19" - all at rediculously large DPI's. So placing importance in this conversation on "what is visible of the art" is not logical. People design billboard and building sized art, you know. I google "Photoshop HiDPI support". First result is titled "HiDPI and Retina Display Support | PHOTOSHOP.COM BLOG". First line in result: "The Photoshop and Lightroom teams are pleased to announce we will provide support for HiDPI displays in the coming months" Date of article: August 30th 2012. The user base of Photoshop is tiny - Photoshop itself is not well known. So you really should't assume it will work on 4 year old tech, even though they say it will in the first result in google. ...
