Good news... I can fairly confidently say that todays offical macOS update 10.12.3 has fixed the glitches and crashes for me. After editing a number of projects today including some 4K timelines with grading and LUT's I've had no issues. Previously Premiere was crashing after a few minutes of that workflow... unlike some who have only had this intermittently it was constantly crashing from the get go for me so this is a great relief. Touch wood! I had taken the 30 days trial of Final Cut Pro and started getting used to a few things and loving the render speed but now I'm back in Premiere again I feel like I make that time back up with how much quicker I can do simple things in Premiere. Now that an official Apple update has come out mentioning the issues with Premiere... what I'd like to know if you can find out Kevin-Monahan is whether that's intended to be 'the' fix or is it only part of it... i.e. is Adobe yet to release an update to make the two work nicely or has Apple made all the changes at their end to work with the existing version of Premiere? Secretely I'm hoping whatever allows Final Cut Pro to run so quick has been opened up for Premiere by Apple (the conspiracy side of my brain whispering that they've been throttling Premiere on Mac to make FCP more competitive)... totally dreaming with no technical foundation to this but imagine if whatever was holding Premiere back on speed was in fact the only way to fix this issue and they had no choice but to give it the same access!   ... Interesting that it also mentions improved graphics switching too... after starting to use the graphics card switcher app from gfx.io I mentioned a few posts back it was certainly helping somehow even if I left it in dynamic switching mode... it's almost like because it was monitoring the switching it was making it more stable?! Does anyone know of anybody else (friends, family colleagues) who are NOT getting this issue specific to Premiere on the new MacBook Pro? I mean there seems to be quite a variance of how regularly it crashes for different people but that could be due to any number of factors... would love to know if there is an overwhelming number of people who have simply not had this problem, which would point to a hardware issue (bad batch of cards etc) though I'm still hoping it's just a software issue. shaunk83531422​ - do you think this whole thing is related to overheating? I've not seen anything in this thread so far that relates the issue to overheating? My test above was to see if selecting the AMD card specifically would eliminate the crashes (on the off chance it's related to some kind of switching) however I noticed with the switcher running that the moment you open Premiere the AMD card is activated so I doubt it's switching during project anyway. No I wouldn't recommend limiting it to the Integrated Intel card for a Premiere Edit either... using the software render setting is probably still better (though slow) if Metal is still producing glitches for some people. Otherwise I'm finding the method of editing in Software render and exporting in Metal is working for now for me. >> Your Mac is crashing because it is overheating. Limiting it to use just the Built In GPU will limit the crashes but in the end you have a problem with your Mac. Could be dust or a faulty discrete GPU. wideangleprod​ prezmc​ Kevin-Monahan​ Has anyone tried the following? I saw this program 'gfxCardStatus' (www.gfx.io) as a way to help with battery life issues. It allows you to select which graphics card is in use or dynamic switching (by using Integrated only i.e. the Intel card it apparently uses a lot less battery)... however to see if by any chance it's the switching that's causing the glitches/crashes I turned it to 'Discrete Only' i.e. the AMD card and played down a 4K video with a few adjustments layers of Film Convert and grading (something that was crashing my Mac within 30 seconds previously). It didn't crash. That's just an initial result and I've not put it through rigorous testing to see if it will handle a full edit but curious to see if others get positive results that way. Maybe I was just getting lucky in my quick test! The switcher doesn't allow you to change the settings while Premiere is open and you can see how choppy it gets if you select Integrated only before opening Premiere (but that might also eliminate crashes... but probably slows things down as much as Software only). The switcher is a bit buggy in that it doesn't always refresh to show correctly which one it has changed to in the drop down on the Menu Bar... though the menu bar icon seems to show correctly (i.e. 'd' for dynamic 'I' for integrated) but if you open 'Activity Monitor' and look under the Eyes nerdy tab it shows which card is currently in use at the bottom. UPDATE: Still no crash after making some further edits and scrubbing, playing down the timeline on a few more projects that were previously crashing... however I then changed the Switcher app to 'Dynamic Switching' and still had no crashes. I then closed the switcher entirely and re-opened Premiere with one eye open to see if I could reproduce the crash under the original settings and it's now not glitching/crashing anyway! Hmmm... I have updated to the latest Adobe Premiere update put out last week but from what I've seen that had nothing to do with a fix for this issue. Maybe I'm just getting lucky now? ... View more

schmollywood​ Hey that's interesting about reverting the previous version... only on mobile connection for the next few days and working off my 30 day Final Cut Trial (not finding it at all intuitive compared to Premiere I have to say!) - keen to hear if this eliminates the crashes for anyone so I can revert when I'm back home. Thanks RameezKhan​ the reference I made was to the following post over at Macrumors forums: Graphic card freaks out with brand new MBP 2016 | Page 27 | MacRumors Forums  - Interestingly he found that going into "Color Profiles" seemed to temporarily reset the glitch he was having (though with the problem most of us are having we wouldn't get the chance to do that because the screen freezes entirely). Another comment in that forum said "It's been stated several dozen times by experienced users that the 'glitch' is a Quartz rendering bug caused by the switches in the colour profiles and drivers." - not sure if that explains anything or relates to some way Premiere could be more likely to trigger whatever bug still exists. Apple thought they had got rid of it with the fix back in December but it seems they didn't dig deep enough, hopefully between your teams they can resolve it quick... Just started a 30 day trial of Final Cut so I can at least work on something but I don't want that to be a permanent solution... I like Premiere! ... View more

sueh6011233 it's not specific to 4K... mine first crashed with simply 2 minutes worth of 1920 x 1080 H.264 footage in Premiere. That's not the case for everyone but it's unpredictable. I've read of someone getting weird graphics glitches as soon as they installed the Creative Cloud app and hadn't even installed Premiere and other apps yet... whatever profiles Creative Cloud installs is perhaps causing the problem and Premiere just triggers it the most often? This has suddenly got a lot worse! My whole desktop is now glitching out. Only got this MacBook Pro 15" yesterday (2.7Ghz Radeon 460). I started getting the same problem in Premiere Pro CC last night which would freeze up my screen with the red pattern and crash the Mac. I thought I'd see if I could get through exporting a 4K video this evening and half way through it must have crashed in the same way, not sure how long it was like that as I had walked away for 5 mins... so I hard rebooted. BUT when I got to my login screen I noticed that pattern from when it freezes was faintly emblazoned on the login screen. When I logged in my whole desktop started glitching out with that faint pattern. Videos showing all of the above including first two crashes then the login screen and desktop as it is now are in the following Dropbox: Dropbox - Macbook Pro Problem I'm totally gutted because I figured oh well I'm sure Adobe will find a solution soon and I'll live with it till then... but it seems to have corrupted something and now the whole Mac appears to be screwed! However I see reports of the desktop glitching on the early releases of the new MacBook but I've not seen any recent reports here. To confirm this desktop glitching is happening without any Adobe software running. Regardless of what has caused this I'm now facing the reality of the long drawn out process of replacing the machine I just spent the last day setting up. So disappointed. Contacting Apple next. UPDATE: Next day my desktop is back to normal again but I feel like I'm "working on thin ice!"
