Hi, Personally it depends, is it for personal use, or business. For Personal use, yea man, you can make some awesome stuff, especially if you have a tablet and have some drawing skills! For Business use, if your just making a video like the link you provided, there are far more cost effective solutions. Hi there, Your using an Animate button symbol and a mouseover event listener simultaneously, this is the cause of the weirdness. They are conflicting as the button symbol has default mouse state listeners, even if you don't populate it with over/down/hit keyframes. Convert the button into a movie clip and you wont have that issue. The next issue is that the mouseover eventlister actually picks up the gap between the stroke and the fill, so you need to add an extra layer behind the graphic to fill the gap. Regards, ... Interesting post ! Colin, Clay, Joao, have you looked deeply into the animate JS final output file? From a glance, the load order/queuing of code within the final animate may be influencing this ? The lib is processes from the get go, so you can at any time call anything from the library directly. Then, the rest of the content, as animate uses a timeline approach, is loaded as separate functions as dictated by your placement in the timeline on your stage. Adding to that, if you have 1 frame with code, and a movie clip, it looks like the timeline functions are processed first, then the stage items. Layer order with regards to the code seems to be ignored, its always loaded first, even if the code layer is at the bottom. Which falls in line with the recommend" placing code on the second frame, not the first" to ensure all the visual elements have been loaded that many people here have said ? Its up to you to create / integrate advanced functionality that is not done through the GUI but all tweakable through the C# functionality, which created the asset store, something like the cloud addons. Hmm... Just from my perspective, i would do the following: Create an array or a var to hold the currently selected bird. Create a "mousemove" event listener: This will set your currently selected array number or selected bird var to your mouse position on the canvas when the mouse moves around. A mouseover and mouseout event listener; This detects the symbol name and set the array number or selected bird var to the one the user has, well moved over. Then i would also set the initial state of the bird in the center of the screen, and only allow the bird var to follow the mouse once you have exited the bird selection area. Or use an initial tween to make the bird fly into postilion once the mouse has excited the bird selection area. If your using chrome do a network log and check where the bottleneck is, a single 1.4 meg file is large on slow connections. Even using concurrent preloading it will bottleneck, as it it sitting there downloading the file before it can continue.....the next issue is that the larger sprite sheet using the default jspreloader, occasionally trigger completed while the file is still downloading. If your using loader.setMaxConnections, personally, you would be better off not using spritesheets. For our content, we have completely moved away from spritesheets, it also allows one to make custom code to pre-load images in a more dynamic fashion, either loading them as the user scrolls down, or only load whats needed on the loading page, then load the rest etc etc. Regards, ... Collin is spot on.... Part of the issue is that there is a core level mouse enter icon state for animate buttons and your trying to override it / take it over. So you move your mouse over the button....default animate over button icon triggers....your custom code icon....click the button, more custom code....default animate over button icon triggers......ah confusion and explosions..... For me, creating custom buttons worked best to avoid weirdness....use a movie clip or graphic, add .mouseenter / .mouseover and .mouseleave / .mouseout event listeners and they need to communicate with your .click or .mousedown event listeners. Animate CC HTML5 Canvas Mouse Over so based on Collins example, you would just replace "yourCursorMC" with "yourCursorOverMC" for .mouseenter and "yourCursorClickMC" for .mousedown. Personally and for various technical reasons i do not like placing the code directly in the HTML...... If you place that within frame 1, and ensure that all the images you are pre-caching are not in your animate library, then it will work.
