It looks like Elements + would do it, but this may be the only time I need to. But it gave me an idea... I can take the magnetic lasso, set the width setting to about 15, draw around the jaggedoutline of the text, then expand by a pixel or two, and fill. I think that will do the trick!

Hi all - I'm working with a low-res b&w type design that I need made bigger. When I do so, the edges get really jagged and I want to smooth them out. Is there a way to make a selection and then "even out" the line? I don't want a soft edge... I need a very hard, clean, smooth edge. Any help is appreciated!

I agree with 99jon, it's a little hard to understand what you're trying to do without posting a sample. To do that, reply to this thread and click the photo icon on the tool bar. I've attached a photo of it so you'll know which one to use.

I have a group photo taken with a wide angle lens. The people on the right and left edges are slightly out of focus and stretched out a bit (makes them look fatter than they really are). Any tips on a quick way to correct this? Thanks.

And once again, I answer my own question. Simply click on the little menu in the upper right corner of the patterns pallet, and you can choose "small list" and see a small icon of the pattern, along with the name. Hope this helps someone else with the same questions.

OK, I figured this out. I simply quit and restarted PE, and my patterns appeared at the bottom of the Patterns palette. One thing still... I gave three very similar ones different names, but I can't see the names in the pallet, so I just have to remember them in chronological order. Does anyone know where the names appear?

I just defined a pattern by selecting with the rectangle tool and going to Edit/Define pattern from selection. then named and saved it. But I can't find it. For example, when I try to use the clone/pattern tool, I can see all the standard patterns, but not the one I defined. Where is it?

Thanks, that did it, got rid of the traditional crop icon and now I just have the crosshairs. I attached a photo of the "before" situation, FYI. Also - for anyone trying to fix this on their PSE 14 for Macintosh, note that I found the setting under Above Photoshop Elements Editor/Preferences/Displays & Cursors, not under the edit menu.

When I try to crop a photo in PE 14, there's a little crosshair icon just above and to the left of the crop tool icon. The actual cropping box doesn't seem to line up with either one of them. It seems like I should be able to start the crop with the crosshair, but when I start dragging, the crop box starts somewhere between the two icons causing the crop to be a few pixels off. What am I doing wrong?
