Hello everyone!  Adobe Dimension 4.0 is now available for download from Creative Cloud!

Adobe Dimension 4.0 is being updated to incorporate some of the same underlying code components as Adobe Substance 3D Stager, particularly in areas like rendering, lighting, and material handling. This update puts Dimension on a more modern and maintainable codebase, ensuring the application is more stable and secure for users. Consequently, users will see some changes in the software – most notably in rendering capabilities and material workflow, as well as minor functionality and quality improvements throughout the application.

Here is an FAQ with more details on the changes:

The Adobe Dimension and Substance 3D Stager comparison FAQ page has also been updated:

I thing I found a bug in 4.0,  would like to know if others have same issue, on Mac Studio M1.

the background image, if I import it, it's icon on the right panel disappears after working with few adjustments to my model, if I replaced an image from left side of dimension panel, you will see it again, but then once you replace it with the image that you want from your desktop, the icon disappears again unless restarting the app I want to see if others have that before I make a report,  thank you

Is there a way to make the linked artwork to automatically update? Let's say I have the same artwork on multiple models and when I update the artwork it doesn't change on the models, I have to go into each model separately and update on each model. It use to update automatically when you changed artwork in the library. Thanks

Some objs from the Adobe stock fail to import. To name 2 so far are the z2 spacesuits, both versions fail on import.

You are right, it did not import for me, there was a warning "Unable to import Model"

But I was able to import it after opening it in Photoshop 2021 version 22.2 -(the last fully functional 3D), you can have 2 versions of Photoshop on your computer. In the meantime, I hope Adobe Dimnsion tech can look into it. see attached screenshots.

Yasir777, Thank you for the response. I also used a work around opening them in Blender and then outputting to glb. Worked and brought in the material etc.

I have been using the new Dimensions 4.0.3 with a smile on my face, I'm so happy Adobe has refined it.

a word of caution on some changes in the shortcuts. The Movel Tool is now W, the Scale Tool is R, Selection is still V. The Align & Distribute D, has moved to the left side with all other tools, the Horizon Tool N, has been consolidated with the Orbit Tool window.

also on the Keyboard shortcuts Shift+Opt+Cmd+K under General, scroll towards the bottom to changes default substance material resolution from 1024px  to 2048px or 4096px or even lower.

Generally a really nice update. Thank you for still keeping Dimension alive and relevant!
I have to say, though, that I really miss the option to publish a 3D scene online. It is a very usefull feature for sharing and presenting projects to clients and coworkers. I hope you will bring back this feature in a future update.

    Dimension 4.0.3 is out today.

    I'm installing it now.

will give feedback later. I'm sure it will be taking care of all those little bugs we encountered.

my issue is with glass and transparencies once exported.

The first image is the export from new dimensions, and the second is how it used to export.
I have experimented with camera background on/off, ground plane on/off, clear or cooured backgrounds but I either get the background colour or worse, a dark grey.
A lot of the fucntions are great, but this is for a time crucial client job, and I'm now spending time trying to figure out how to get the transparencies to render as transparent.

Seedbed if this is time sensitive for a customer you can revert to the previous version of Dimension as many of us on this thread have done.

The update is great and it's awesome to see JMathews is still involved!

Only issue I have so far is I can no longer import other DN files into the current(open) file. Otherwise, heaps of new materials. Haven't checked to see if this runs native on Apple Silicon, but it still is the fastest 3d and rendering program I've ever used.

When should we expect the next bug fix?

Hi, I've updated to the latest version and it's been a nightmare on my MacBook Pro M3. Everything is so slow, even in real-time draft mode. It lags a lot when customizing objects and adding materials. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Condolences. Unfortunately, Adobe 3D programs on Macs are a total nightmare, they use the CPU for rendering until now... I went through it and there was no other option but to buy a Windows desktop computer (by the way, its price compared to a Mac is ridiculous) with a Geforce RTX 4060 graphics card for this purpose . A cheap ~1300€ computer with Windows works and renders 5 times faster than a Mac that costs 3-4 times more... Unfortunately, this is the new reality...

oh sh*t, I just knew they using CPU for rendering. Well, I'll stay on the previous version then. Dimensions are only for making a custom mockup of my design work.
