Adobe Express Embed not allowing adding media

Our Express Embed has stopped letting anyone click the sidebar to add media or elements. Users can upload media but not click any of the other buttons to use any saved in files or add stock media or text.

Thanks,

Ru Howe

Thanks for fixing, but the lack of reply is really disappointing and worrying, and very different to what I’d come to expect from Adobe over many years of amazing and responsive collaboration, which is why I trusted such a key business integration to Adobe rather than the now more solicitous Canva.

It appears that this issue has been fixed. This is obviously very good news but the frustration remains that we still have no idea if our bug reports and messages aided that process, or if Adobe devs found the issue themselves. This process doesn’t provide us any confidence that this is the right forum to log issues in the future, based on the complete lack of interaction from anyone at the Adobe Express team.

I want to second Ru Howe’s frustration on the lack of response on this issue. The inability to have access to a channel where serious issues like this, which we can confirm makes the embed SDK effectively unusable, can not only be logged but acknowledged and actioned in a timely manner is troubling.

Because, like Stornaway, we have the SDK running and used by clients in a production environment we have had to resort to find other ways to report this issue. So after some searching, which should not be necessary, we found the cc.everywhere github repo (the documentation site for Adobe Express SDK) and have also logged an issue there. We can see that there has been commits to this repo 4 days ago but as yet no response, or fix for this issue.  Below is the link to the issue raised by one of our developers on the repo.

    https://github.com/AdobeDocs/cc-everywhere/issues/288

We have even resorted to sending Linkedin messages to people (we are not connected to) on the Adobe Express team in the hope that they might pass this issue onto their development team. If I get a response I will update this channel.

    Thanks

I am concerned by the lack of an acknowledgement reply to this urgent total system failure which has apparently been happening since at least Monday, reported by me here Wednesday, it's now Friday.

Since since there are two other replies about this here, it’s clearly a systemic issue, but perhaps not many other people are using Embed SDK, and I presume partners like Miro are reporting it through other channels.

For context, Stornaway was one of the first companies to use Embed SDK (after I suggested an embed SDK for Spark to the team as far back as 2021), and we were the first company to use it with video, with cooperation from the Adobe team and specifically supported by Adobe Design Grant, and with considerable marketing to and usage by our customers.

We’ve also supported Adobe through marketing and two MAX sponsorships in LA (we are based in the UK).

So we have invested a huge amount of time, money and creation of support materials in it. Our system is agnostic but our enterprise customers use Express Embed in their workflow as well as student and small business customers. It gets people into Adobe rather than Canva.

If Embed SDK has now been abandoned and effectively terminated or the SLA has changed to non-response for us, then please let could somebody email me at ru at stornaway io to clarify expectations, so I can tell my team and board, and so we can communicate transparently to our enterprise customers (who are also your major Experience Cloud customers) about what you have done, and so we know whether to withdraw Express rather than waiting for a fix, and focus on our Canva, Resolve and AI integrations instead.

    Thanks,

We are facing the same issue

    Hi there,

Could you confirm if this is a known issue?

This is happening to us as well. Clicking on any of the buttons on the side bar doesn’t work except the upload button which does launch the file directory, however all the other buttons in the top bar work fine. In dev tools no error is being logged and no network calls are being made when trying to click any of the side bar buttons. We have created a sandboxed version of the embed in CodeSandbox to test if it is our code that is creating a conflict. This demonstrates that the same issue is happing in CodeSandbox. Here is a link to the video taken of the sandboxed version in action.

Sandboxed Embed - Side Bar issue

This issue is making the embed unusable for our clients. Can this be reported to the right people so a fix can be completed ASAP please.
