Adobe Camera Raw 18.3 / Photoshop 27.6 Super Resolution Bug Report
System:
- Windows 11
- NVIDIA Studio Driver 596.36
- Canon EOS R5 RAW (.CR3) files
- Photoshop 27.6
- Camera Raw 18.3
- Dual 4K Alienware AW3225QF monitors
- HDR disabled during testing
Issue:
Standard RAW editing functions normally, but enabling either “Raw Details” or “Super Resolution” causes Photoshop / Camera Raw to fail with the following error:
“Could not open [filename].CR3 because the file-format module cannot parse the file.”
Behavior:
- CR3 files open normally in Camera Raw
- Standard edits function normally
- The failure occurs immediately when Raw Details or Super Resolution are enabled
- Ordinary Photoshop opening works when these features remain disabled
- No enhanced DNG file is generated
Troubleshooting already performed:
- Reinstalled Photoshop
- Reinstalled Camera Raw manually
- Used Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool
- Removed Camera Raw preferences and caches
- Deleted .XMP and .ACR sidecar files
- Tested multiple fresh CR3 files
- Tested from local C:\Temp directory
- Disabled Malwarebytes temporarily
- Tested with GPU image processing ON and OFF
- Confirmed NVIDIA Studio Driver current
- Confirmed Windows HDR OFF
- Confirmed Camera Raw AI features enabled
- Tested fresh Lightroom catalog
- Rebooted repeatedly throughout testing
Result:
Issue remains fully reproducible on clean CR3 files. Standard RAW editing works correctly, but enabling Raw Details or Super Resolution consistently triggers the parser error and prevents DNG generation.
