P: Camera Raw Filter v18.7: Remove > People Mouse cursor stays as zoom tool even when hovering over pins

Opened image (TIFF or DNG) via LightRoom Classic
Duplicated layer
Opened new layer in ACR

Selected Remove tool

Selected remove People

Two people selected, one of which I did not want to remove

Cursor changed to Zoom tool

Unable to exit that Zoom mode to select the person I did not want to remove

Pressing H to change to Hand tool did not help
Seems there is no way to deselect the selected people

Tried restarting PS; rebooting computer..  no joy in Mudville

What _did_ work was from the main PS window, was to select the distracting person via the lasso tool and use Gen AI to remove with the prompt "remove person".

    Hi, ​@ericw92588751. Thank you for adding the video and providing the details. During my investigation, I discovered that simply opening the "Remove People" feature in Camera Raw triggers the unexpected behavior, making other variables less relevant.

     

    The team is aware of the issue, and a fix is being worked on for a future release of Camera Raw.

    Note: with People selected in ACR remove; I pressed H to change Zoom to Hand. This did not resolve the isssue.

    Resetting PS preferences (quit PS, deleted pref, restart PS)  did not resolve the selection issue.

    Apologies for this experience, and thank you for sharing the detailed steps and system information. To help us investigate this further, could you please provide a few additional details?

    • Does this happen consistently with different images, or only with this particular TIFF/DNG?

    • If possible, could you share a short screen recording showing the workflow and issue?

     

    These details will help us better understand and reproduce the behavior.

     

    In the meantime, I would suggest manually resetting Photoshop preferences after backing up your current preferences.

    After resetting the preferences, please check whether the issue persists.

         Once in PS/ACR remove people was tried. Note: I pressed H to switch from Zoom to Hand,       but that had no effect with respect to deselecting a person.

    RESET PS settings
    Quit PS…
    After deleting the preferences directory and restarting PS…
    Opened an NEF which opened the ACR window.. 
    Same behavior.  Remove people, cursor changed to Zoom and was not able to deselect AI selected people.
