Area Type Bugs Colleciton:

In the latest version of Illustrator Beta, creating an Area Type object creates the following problems:

  1. You cannot use the mouse to position the insertion point within the text. You can only select the beginning of a line, not within the line.
  2. You cannot double-click a word to select, nor triple-click a sentence to select. It always starts selection at character 0.
  3. When inserting characters from the Character Panel, no matter where your insertion point is positioned, it inserts the characters at the beginning of the Area Type object, not at your insertion point.
  4. Cutting or copying text, then trying to paste, does not work. Cutting works, but not pasting.
  5. When multiple elements are selected, including an Area Type object, resizing the Area Type object should only affect the Area Type's defined boundary, unless grouped. When grouped, all grouped elements should be resized. When selected as one of multiple items, it should retain its resize/reflow without affecting the rest of the selection.

As you can imagine, itrems 3 and 4 ruin the Area Text object. You can't insert a custom character anywhere in your text. Cutting and pasting a special character inserted at the beginning just doesn't work.

And PS, the topics you list for these bug reports is delusional. They never relate to the problem at hand and clicking one or more is being dishonest and making it harder for developers to address.
