Bug Report: Shift Key Not Constraining Scaling for Paths in Illustrator Beta

Dear Adobe Illustrator Team,

I am experiencing an issue in the latest Illustrator Beta version where holding the Shift key does not constrain proportions when scaling paths. However, it works correctly for basic shapes like rectangles and ellipses.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open Illustrator Beta and create a custom path (e.g., using the Pen Tool).

  2. Select the path and attempt to scale it while holding Shift.

  3. The path scales freely instead of maintaining its proportions.

  4. However, the same action works correctly for rectangles and ellipses.

Expected Behavior:

Holding Shift should constrain the proportions of all objects, including paths, as it does in Illustrator 2025 (Stable Release).

System & Software Details:

  • Illustrator Beta Version: 29.5 52

  • Operating System: macOS Sequoia Version 15.3.2 (24D81)

  • System Specs: Apple M1 Pro - 16 GB Memory

This issue affects my workflow, especially when resizing complex vector artwork. Please let me know if this is an intentional change or a bug. Any guidance or a potential fix in upcoming updates would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and support!

Best regards,
Mani

You're right! The new version 29.6.0 just dropped, and the issue’s all fixed now.

Same problem here. Either have proportional scaling the default (without a shift key modifier) or give us back our shift modifier...please...this seems to have come with the latest version of illustrator beta.

Does anyone know how to revert to an older version of illustrator beta?

Just use the released version.

A beta version is not meant for production work.

It's the same story for me.

I'm close to sure it's a bug, but that's to be expected in beta.
There have been a few such annoying bugs, but the Adobe team usually fixes them quickly.
In the meantime, I also have the non-beta Illustrator to help with stepping around these problems.
