Certain transform tools don't show a live preview of changes while editing (e.g. the rotate tool won't show previews of rotation before releasing). Some notes:

  1. This is a new behavior, as of a recent update.
  2. This only happens using "View using GPU"; the preview works normally with "View using CPU", albeit slightly slower. 
  3. This occurs even if "Real-Time Drawing and Editing" is active in Preferences>Performance and GPU is selected as active on the same page.
  4. This behavior isn't present in the current non-Beta Illustrator version using the same hardware and GPU settings.

    Hello ​@Simon38989986lvdr thank you for reaching out. Illustrator's live preview during transforms works by continuously re-rendering the canvas as the transform handle is dragged. As GPU and CPU use different settings, the behavior varies. 

    I tried the scenario described by you but seem to experience the same behavior in both the Beta and non-Beta Illustrator versions; i.e. I’m unable to replicate your issue. Kindly refer to the attached videos. 

    If you are still experiencing these issues, please share your Beta build number, your system configuration and a short video of the issue for us to understand the exact issue.

    Hey ​@Smriti Capoor. Thank you for your prompt response!

    The issue specifically happens while using the Rotate (R) tool in GPU mode, and not the bounding box rotation tabs you use in your videos.

    For reference, my AI Beta version is 30.8 28 on Mac OS Sonoma 14.6.1.

     

    Actually, I just updated to version 30.9 and the issue appears to be resolved now. Guess it sorted itself out.
