Dimension tool crashing when changing scale

Been happening and reporting for a while on various updates of Abode Illustrator.

When trying to alter the scale.......selecting a new scale then trying to click on save, the tool will not save.

closing the tool options box does not solve this problem

Closing and restarting Illustrator does allow the change but problem occurs again  reason later without any obvious reason,
