File Opening Error on Some Files

Some large files crash the program when reopened after saving — they simply won’t open. I’ve updated both the regular and beta versions of Illustrator to the latest versions, converted the files to PDF, and tried dozens of times, but the program keeps crashing. Why does every update make compatibility worse and the system less stable? Are some of my files permanently lost, along with my work itself?
