Hi team,

I am experiencing a persistent UI/functional bug in the latest Illustrator Beta version regarding the Transform panel inside the Control Bar.

The Issue: I am unable to scale objects non-uniformly using the Width (W) and Height (H) input fields in the Control Bar's transform section. It constantly behaves as if the "Constrain Proportions" (link icon) mode is turned ON, maintaining the aspect ratio automatically, even though I have explicitly turned this feature OFF.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Select any object (e.g., a rectangle or vector path).

  2. Look at the Transform section in the Control Bar.

  3. Ensure the "Constrain Proportions" link icon is unchecked/disabled (showing it should allow free, non-uniform scaling).

  4. Change either the Width or Height value manually.

  5. The other dimension changes automatically to maintain the original aspect ratio, completely ignoring the disabled constraint toggle.

Expected Behavior: When the constrain feature is turned off, I should be able to set the width and height freely and independently (non-uniform scaling).

Environment:

  • App: Adobe Illustrator Beta (Latest version)

  • UI Element: Control Bar -> Transform Panel

Thanks for looking into this and hoping for a quick fix in the upcoming beta patch!

On checking the status with the engineering team, this issue has been fixed, and you should be able to see this fixed in the next Beta release. Please look out for the next Beta release notes. The non-Beta / GA Illustrator application will have this fix in its planned next release by the end of the month.

Hello @fatihtezel / @AJ&tone I can see it happening. It happens when you select constrain mode, and then you switch it off and it stops happening once you select deselect constrain mode again. But this is happening for me only in the non-Beta 30.6 Illustrator for me so maybe it has been fixed in Beta. I’ll raise a ticket for this just to be sure. Thank you both for reporting this; I really appreciate it.

The same thing happened to me. I’m using Illustrator 30.6 on a Mac. You have to close the app and reopen it to fix the issue.

Found this thread looking for a solution. I’m also using Illustrator 30.6 on a Mac. Restarting the program worked for me as well.

i guess i found the main problem. it works fine  when i restart my application, but when i activate and deactivate constrain width and height proportions button, i get the same error. it behaves like constrain mode on. i dont know its a local or general problem but i just wanted to report it. thanks for  help for now.

I am having the same issue on AI 30.6 (non- beta) as well.

I did see a new option to edit within the “shape” panel, which worked. But I do believe this is a bug.

Hello @fatihtezel thank you for reporting this, but this is not reproducible on my end. Please have a look at the attached video. Can you please try restarting your Beta application?

I am on Beta 30.8.7 and use a Windows machine. I tried using a Mac machine as well, but this bug doesn’t seem to happen for us.
