Swatches and Eyedropper are Glitchy

I am in fashion and fill vectored shirt silhouettes with repeat swatches. I noticed today that if I select my filled vector shape and copy/paste to a new file, the direction of the pattern rotates in several of the filled sections in the new file.

Also, I noted that when using the eyedropper, I cannot shift+eyedropper and collect the color from a filled section. It only shows as white. I have to pull the swatch out of the swatches window and collect the color from the original swatch. I was able to collect color before from a filled section with shift+eyedropper.
