Add a keyboard shortcut to clear media cache

It would be very helpful to have a keyboard shortcut which clears the media cache of Media Encoder. I often have to clear the cache for changes made in After Effects to be reflected in Media Encoder. As of now the only way I can see to do this is from the menu or in Finder.

It’s not a huge deal but it would remove a few extra steps which I’m doing multiple times a day.

Thanks!

    @zh55667,

    It must be closed to reset the media cache, so a shortcut might not work. But with AME August 2025 release, a reset startup dialogue was added (re-added?).

    Hold the shift key down as you launch.

    Note that the media cache is shared with Premiere Pro (and others?).

    Ah I was unaware of the startup dialogue being added. Is that in AME 2026? I had assumed that AME had the feature before and it swiftly reset all of my preferences and window layout 🤦‍♂️

    I will admit I am using AME 2025 (25.6.5), but I’ve never had an issue by not re-opening the app, and it currently doesn’t warn about needing to. I notice AME 2026 also doesn’t have the shortcut which is why I still asked.

    I only have issues with AME cache regarding older After Effects projects carrying over. I try to keep on top of clearing PR and AE cache but I usually have a smooth experience in AME anyway if I don’t.

    Thanks for the quick response.
